New Meetings (Vayl)

Postby Redd on April 28th, 2014, 11:45 pm

She had stayed near the entrance of the cave, silently watching the outline of Vayl in the dark as he inspected the hole and ran his fingers over her back pack. Redd, wasn't exactly sure what he was doing, she actually hadn't been expecting any kind of reaction in truth.

Her ears flickered forwards as she heard him mutter about being a Kelvic and she began to wonder, not for the first time that day was, what was he talking about? The young wolf had never really known what she was, having been chased out at only two months of age and giving her a good dose of weariness towards humans.

Her mother had called her un-natural, a demon in human disguise and she had often thought that that was exactly what she was. Yet, she had chances some times to sit in the dark shadows while human told tales around their fires about demons. How demons would often come along to devour human souls and that there was magical protection for it. Whatever magic was, she never understood everything the humans said.

In her three years, never had she met another like her and it often made her believe that she was a demon, but hearing this word Kelvic, put more questions in her mind and she couldn't help but feel frustrated at not being able to ask these questions.

Redd's golden gaze had drifted to view outside the cave as she delve back into her mind, trying to work out the never fitting puzzle pieces of the world around her. She had to learn mostly everything she knew from travelling humans, but not once had she heard the word Kelvic uttered late at night when a lone howl would pierce the quiet.

Upon hearing his words about sleep, she glance back to the outline of the male, he was offering to stay awake for her while she slept? Another kindness that she did not understand, he was kind and different to humans, did that mean that he was also a demon? Were demons kind to other demons? Did demons smell the same as other demons?

Angling her head to the right, she allowed her train of thought to take over for the moment as she pondered what to do. Should she sleep, should she hunt or should she watch over him? Redd wasn't exactly sure whether the other wolves would be out tonight, it wasn't a full moon so maybe not.

The next question that cropped up into her mind was, but would he stay? Slowly, she made her way over to her bowl shaped hole, turning once clockwise and then once anti-clockwise before settling down into the hole, curling her form around and tucking her tail in, but her head rested on the edge of the hole, because she knew her rib would complain if she also tucked her head in.

Redd's golden hues would focus on Vayl for a moment as she wondered would he really leave during the night? She couldn't be too sure, but then again, she was never too sure when it came to others. Her mother was loving and kind until Redd shifted and out the door she was beaten, until she found herself out in the cold like the dog she sometimes felt she was.

Taking a deep breath, feeling her lungs expand before they began to push the air out slowly, she closed her eyes. Maybe this was what some humans called, taking a leap of faith, not that she understood what faith was, but she often wondered why humans would leap if it could killed them by accident.

Slowly, the young wolf would drift off into a sleep. It was never a fulfilling or a fitful sleep, as often she would whine or her ears would twitched. Her head would sometimes angle the other way almost like she was shying away.

However unfulfilling it was, she slept however, for it was the first time she would not have to watch over herself.

Vayl smile as the creature settle down for some attempted sleep. Pulling his hood over his face again, he walked out and stood outside the entrance to the cavelett, his eyes reflecting the moon's pale light as he looked along the horizon. To his left there was the slumbering docks, and out ahead of him, with a very faint glow reflecting off the water, was Ravok. Vayl shivered slightly. He was certainly going to miss his hammock tonight. But all for a good cause.

Still, in his travelling from Kalinor he hadn't learnt nothing. A night was never to be wasted. On the way to this cave he had noticed some rabbit holes. He'd catch some food for the wolf. She certainly looked as if she needed it, her ribs were easily visible, and he'd seen many better fed wolves try to attack him or scavenge off the remnants of whatever he had left while he was travelling from Kalinor. Calmly humming to himself, he walked around slowly, scanning the ground. When he saw a rabbit hole, he'd kick some dirt into it and seal it up. It was night time so they'd all be asleep inside there right now.

Once he was sure that he'd sealed all but two entrances to the den, he started gathering some dry leaves. Thankfully it hadn't rained the previous day, so nothing was damp, and he was even able to use some small twigs and bits of wood as well. Carefully poking them down one entrance, he produced his flint and tinder and started working furiously to start a fire, small beads of sweat dripping off his hair and slender nose. Eventually, he got a small ember burning, and he blew on it gently to kindle it. The orange glow reflected harshly off his violet eyes. When he was satisfied he pushed the growing fire with a stick into one of the entrances, sealing it up behind. Walking to the final exit he waited. Either the heat or the smoke would wake the rabbits and they'd try to escape, where he would catch them. He placed his jacket over the entrance as a net of sorts. and prepared to bag anything that ran out.

--------

Morning arrived and Vayl had three rabbits. Two adults and a year old child by the looks of its size. He was cooking one over the smallest fire he could make without producing too much smoke, and had left the other two raw, because he didn't know which form the Kelvic would show up in. His eyes sparkled as they looked sadly across the vast lake. He hated killing.

New Meetings (Vayl)

Postby Redd on April 29th, 2014, 11:14 am

The first thing Redd noted when she lifted her head to take in her surroundings, was the fact that the male whom he had called himself Vayl had gone. His scent within the cave was faint, so he had been gone for quite some time. A pang of loneliness crept through her once again and she drew in a deep breath before letting it go slowly, sighing inwardly. Well at least she had company for a little while, she told herself as she made slow progress in getting onto her paws, wincing slightly as her fractured rib gave a sharp stab reminding her that it was still there when she had attempted to stretch.

Her hunger came back in full force and her golden hues glanced back to the cave entrance, she would have to hunt today or she wouldn't live to starve through the next winter at all. She padded forwards and out of the cave entrance, greeting the day with silence.

It must have been some kind of divine torture, or so she had heard humans say when they spoke of a taunting smell or sight, when the wind picked up and carried forth the scent of meat cooking. She recognised the scent only because when humans built their fire they also cooked meat.

Lifting her nose to the air, she began to follow the scent, her hunger pushing her paws into a lope, making her fractured rib send small bouts of pain but it was her stomach carrying her forwards, not pain, so she had pushed her body's pain back as she entered the clearing where Vayl currently was.

She slid to a stop, her claws gripping the earth underneath her form, which, ironically almost sent her nose diving once more, but instead made her stumble a few paces forward as she allowed the momentum to carry her forward these few paces so then she wouldn't nose dive.

Redd's golden hues locked onto the cooking meat and then her nose picked up the familiar scent of Vayl, her gaze turning to the male. A small whine passed her maw as she suddenly dropped her head and her ears lowered as she realised that she must have looked like a blood crazed beast and she lowered her form so she was lying on her stomach once again, resting her head in her front paws. Her golden hues looked to him in an apologetic way.

Vayl recoiled slightly at the sight of the much more bestial looking Wolf that approached him. Opening his mouth a little in surprise, he very, very slowly pulled the cooked rabbit off the fire and lay it on the ground next to the two uncooked ones, pushing them towards her.

"Go on, they're for you. I can't eat them anyway." he smiled weakly, slightly depressed at this fact. "Well, not without having to sink my teeth into it for a couple of bells" he shrugged, looking at his feet. He frowned in thought. He wondered what enjoying food was like.

"Why is it that you've stayed as a wolf all this time?" he asked her, not entirely expecting an answer. Using the ever cold fingerblade, he sliced a leg off the cooked rabbit and sank his fangs into it, sucking contemplatively.

"I guess it would not be unreasonable to prefer your animal form as compared to your human one. Normal humans are so..." he sighed and looked down. "I.. I don't know" he muttered in symenos, "Evil?"

"I don't know how much you know about my race, Kelvic, but aside our birthing process, I'd pretty much hazard and say that all of our problems come from humans and their 'societys' and 'Gods'"
He smiled faintly and looked at the wolf. "But hey, when was life meant to be easy for outcasts like us? I'm a rejected child of a rejected and despised race."

Inside he secretly feared quite how long it would take before the wolf tired of his company, he guessed it would be when she had no more use for him any more. She was now fed, rested and healed. Slumping a little he sighed, lavender eyes glistening softly. Well it had been an enjoyable night, he should be thankful for that at least.

"I'll have to go back to my 'house' in Ravok soon, kelvic. If you want to come with me, and I appreciate that is a big 'if', then you're going to have to look human. They don't take kindly to your kind there, even moreso than mine." He frowned in anger. "And that really is saying something.."

The Rabbit leg wilted as its insides were sucked out and Vayl chucked it away into the bushes, sighing inwardly.

New Meetings (Vayl)

Redd's golden orbs watched as he pushed the rabbits towards her, telling the young wolf that they were for her and her ears pricked forwards at this. No one had hunted for her before, well, no one human or human looking anyway, so this came as quite the surprise.

Slowly, she sat up onto her haunches as she leaned forward her jaws opening wide to reveal sharp white teeth as they closed around one of the raw rabbits, pulling it close to her being while putting a paw on top of it protectively. It was then that her teeth began to work at the rabbit, grabbing small chunks of skin and fur to rip it away to reveal the insides.

Sometimes she would swallow some small pieces of either intestines or small pieces of meat, occasionally pausing to remove small bones. As he spoke, one ear was forwards listening to the male as the other one was pressed back against her head as she also focussed on eating the rabbit. Occasionally she paused to take a break and looked up to stare at Vayl for a moment as she focussed fully on what he would say before returning to the rabbit.

She had just finished the second raw rabbit when she sat up, her tongue darting out every now and then to lick the blood from her maw, her ears flickering forwards as she felt the rabbits settle quiet nicely within her stomach. It was definitely food that she had needed.

When he questioned why she had been a wolf the whole time, she realised that he did not know that she needed food in her stomach to actually be able to shift. She listened as he mentioned humans being evil and also being an outcast. Despised? He seemed too nice to be despised or rejected and... Lonely, she noted, just like how she felt.

The moment he said that he would have to go back to his house, she shook her head as she glanced over at the lake in the direction of the city. He would have to go back there? Alone? The young wolf felt as if she owed him for the meal he had taken time to catch and would feel guilty if she didn't make sure that he would be fine in a city full of humans. She moved to stand back up on all four of her paws and shook her fur out, her teeth working at gently removing the bandage from her hind foot before she felt the familiar shift take over, the process of borrowing her human form as a pale red light surrounded the wolf.

As soon as the light surrounded her, it began to fade, revealing a pale, thin, naked woman standing before the male, her straight, long, brindled red hair fell down her back, the streaked colours of black and brown clearly visible as well as an occasional streak of white. She still had her usual injuries, the jagged claw wound still upon her left side but much more visible now because she didn't have fur, but was not as deep as the bite around her right ankle.

Her eyes had been closed during the shift, but they now parted to reveal hazel hues instead of golden and she angled her head to the right, taking in the sight of the male before her, clearly comfortable being naked as she was.

Taking a deep breath, her tongue darted out as she licked her lips before speaking once again, "I didn't reveal my human form earlier because I couldn't, I was too starved to." Her hazel hues looked away from the male as she nervously shuffled on her bare feet while her right hand lifted to gently rub her jaw line.

Vayl bowed his head in reverence as the Kelvic finally shifted. He'd never seen it happen before, but he felt too lowly to watch what must have been such a marvellous transformation.

When he saw the glowing had stopped out of the corner of his eyes, he looked up slowly, hair covering his eyes. They widened slightly when he saw that the girl was unclothed. Thankfully, he now realised, she didn't look enough like a female Symenestra for him to think of anything... untoward. Well at least yet. He kept his gave thoroughly fixed on the girl's face, determined to keep his imagination in check. She certainly had a very elegant face, and eyes.

I wouldn't mind spending my life with this Kelvic...

Vayl frowned and ran his hand over his chin. Why had he thought that? Was it true? He looked away to one side. He guessed it was true. He'd only heard her speak one sentence yet somehow they felt like they knew each other since birth. He looked into the girl's eyes again.

No he could tell from that, he would love to spend his life with this girl. She understood him somehow..

Tensing up Vayl abruptly moved forwards and did something he had never, never done before. He hugged the girl. Being a good foot taller than her he wrapped his arms around her back and pulled her forwards, letting her head rest against his chest. He felt so protective over this girl, and he couldn't place why..

His eyes widened as it dawned on him. She was the closest he had ever got to meeting himself. Self exiled, struggling with life despite the brave exterior. He held her frail form to him tighter.

"I know how you feel" he whispered with infinite sadness. "It's... it's ok to cry alright? You don't to always be tough"

If she felt anything, anything like he did she'd be relieved. At least he hoped.

Vayl tensed slightly, hoping this wasn't some huge miscalculation of his.

New Meetings (Vayl)

Postby Redd on April 30th, 2014, 11:42 am

Redd had felt his gaze upon her being, well, more like upon her face but it was still odd to be stared at and she felt a little like a fish out of water. Yet, it felt quite natural to be stared at by this male for some reason. An oddity perhaps?

She angled her head to the right as she pondered this line of thought further, maybe it was the kindness he showed her by hunting down food for her and the loyalty she now felt towards him. Or maybe... It was because they both shared a common lonliness, a want for a companion. She didn't want to let this go, but what if she had to?

No, she had shifted because she had recognised some part of herself in this strange man, she knew she wouldn't let him go without her by his side to offer protection and companionship. She could tell, before even realising it that this is who she wanted to spend the rest of her life with, because it seemed like he some how understood her. He had understood that she was hungry and had hunted food down for her. Even when he saw a more feral side of her, he didn't even turn to grab his closet weapon.

It was then that a movement had brought her out of her thoughts as Vayl had abruptly moved forward and she felt his arms wrap around her form, pulling her close to his own being in a hug. Something the woman had never felt in her entire being, was comfort and the arms of another wrapped around her being with her head now resting upon his chest.

She felt only shock for a moment, still processing the fact that someone, a being had pulled her into their embrace, an embrace which then became an even tighter embrace, which then made her fractured rib protest, but she didn't care about that for now. All she felt in that moment was, if she wanted to, she could just let go of all the loneliness and betrayal that plagued her.

Redd felt his words rumble within his chest as he spoke, his words like a balm to her heavy heart and she felt something she never thought that she was capable of feeling, relieved, for once in her life she felt relieved that she was not the only one.

As this feeling washed over her, her whole being relaxed within his arms her own arms lifting to wrap around Vayl's waist and her hazel hues slid to a close. She drew in a deep breath and her voice spoke softly, "Thank you... For understanding."

Vayl slowly, reluctantly let his grip on her decrease. He had seen the boat cross the horizon.

"I have to go home now... the boat is arriving." he slumped. "I'm sorry." As he looked back up into her eyes his eyes seemed even more intensely violet than usual.

"Are you always living here? I'd like to meet you again some time?"

Vayl assumed she wouldn't accompany him, after all she was a Kelvic, and she seemed pretty happy to be where she was now. Ravok and Kelvics weren't the best combination either.

A slight smiled pulled the side of his mouth up slightly, revealing a still slightly bloody fang.

"You still haven't told me your name yet you know." His gaze flickered down and he suddenly remembered she was naked. He looked away fast.

"And... you need some clothes to wear if you're going to stay human. I assume they're in your backpack inside."

Hesitantly he turned, slumping visibly.

"I.. I really have to go now I'm sorry. And if anyone needs thanking, its you."

Slowly, painfully, Vayl started traipsing back to the dock, back to normality, status quo.

New Meetings (Vayl)

Postby Redd on April 30th, 2014, 2:45 pm

She felt his grip on her loosen before he finally let go of her and her hazel hues snapped open as she shuffled her weight evenly onto both of her feet, listening quietly to his spoken words and she tried to understand their meaning.

Clothes? They were important to being human? She often did wondered why they were always covered, maybe they are ashamed of their naked body? Animals don't feel the need to wear clothes, they just walk around in...

Wait, what did he say? It took her wayward mind to catch up, but catch up it did when he turned to leave. He has to go back to the city? A hand began to follow in his direction, but she stopped herself and let her hand fall back to her side, taking a moment to fully process that he was going back.

Spinning on her heels she half ran, half limped back to her cave, ducking her head as she made her quick way to the back pack pulling out the black pants and black shirt. She quickly slipped these on, trying to ignore the sudden pain she had put herself through as lastly she pulled out the black cloak, tying it up just under her chin.

Picking up the back pack from the ground and slipping it over her shoulder, her hazel hues looked around at the small cave once more before making a quick dash outside to follow Vayl's scent. She would miss the cave, it had been where she had lived most of her life in, but now that her ties to the local pack had been severed and the pull of her to be there for Vayl was strong, she had to follow.

Her bare feet made quick work of crossing ground, but her ankle's bite began to bleed once more and her fractured rib complained about this extra activity, her progress was some what hindered, but she pushed forward.

As she caught up to him just before the strange floating beast, she took a lung full of air, wincing at the pain it caused but called out anyway, "Vayl!" Her right hand lifted to clutch at her right side, as if to quell the pain there, but her gaze was focused upon the male in front of her as she spoke, "My name is Redd, just Redd and I wish to come into the city with you, So then we can fend off the... Evil humans together."

Vayl span round at the call of his name, seeing the girl frantically trying to catch up with him, her feet bruised from the travel. Eyes widening in shock he ran back and caught her in his arms to support her. He pressed his nose to the side of her neck and inhaled deeply. She smelt so.. wild. It was refreshing compared to humans' stale sweat. Carefully supporting her, he looked down into her eyes.

"Nice to meet you Redd." he spent a sweet moment of silence simply relishing the fact he could take this girl with him. He had finally found a purpose to his life. Protecting this innocent creature from the rest of the world.

His Mauve eyes scanned towards the boat. Logistically this was going to be a problem. Evidently she knew very little about society, or at least civilisation. Kneeling down he put his hands on Redd's shoulders and looked her in the eyes.

"I'm so grateful that you're coming Redd, trust me, but you are going to have to be extremely careful when we arrive. Your kind are hunted and put into slavery. So you will have to pretend that I own you.. like an animal."

Vayl sighed and looked down at the floor. "I can't even imagine how degrading this will be for you, but it's the only way to survive in Ravok. Every person fends for themselves in there. The strong prey upon the weak." A dark glint flashed through his eyes. "Let's be thankful I'm strong then shall we?" he rested his left hand on his katana to emphasise his point.

Vayl smiled, cupping Redd's cheek momentarily, then stood up slowly.

"Ok I'm going to carry you to my living quarters. I need you to not speak a word and not do anything, I will be pretending you're my ill wife. We can use your real injuries for proof if we need it."

Vayl glanced suspiciously at the boat. This was going to be one terrifying journey. He'd always hated water. Steeling his expression he put on a smile and held out his hand to Redd to pick her up.

OOCThink this is a good place to end the thread? If so submit to grading. When I see you've done that I will start a thread in my apartment in Ravok
