So I Really like the idea of kelvic but the idea that the age is that of the animal is a big turn off. So heres the question, is there a way to allow the character to live a human lifespan is the animal of choice only lives a few years?
Nope. The lifespan of a kelvic is the lifespan of their animal, period. If the kelvic is well cared for, you can probably use the lifespan in captivity over their lifespan in the wild, but there's no getting around the age issue.
I suppose you could always have your kelvic become a Nuit, which is the typical go-to method for extending your lifespan... but then you have to be a Nuit
And you can always create a human (or some other race with a longer life span) and make your PC learn Morphing if it's the shapeshifting ability in the race that interests you. It's a little different, and it is dangerous if you use this magic too much, like any other magic, but that's also an option.
