Home of the Konti people, this ivory city is built of native konti stone half in and half out of the sea. Its borders touch the Silverwood, and stretch upwards towards Silver Lake, home of the infamous konti vision water. [Lore]

A Day's Pay (Open)

So much attention was being drawn to Keyta, anxiety was building inside of her, too many people saw her fall, too many people were worried about her, too many questions were being asked. Keyta could only nod her head 'no' as she backed up against a wall to all of the questions being thrown at her. Feeling cornered, Keyta jumped up and then used the wall to jump even higher and forward at the same time. Launching over the crowd just barely, Keyta landed on her feet quietly and began sprinting toward the other side of the building to grab her bag once again. Only the sound of her feet smacking against the stone streets, the kelvic ran as fast as she could, but spurts of pain shot from her back with every impact of her feet. Trying to ignore the pain, Keyta reached low to grab her bag and jumped into a crate nearby, quickly pulling out her clothes, she peered out of a hole to see if anyone had followed her.

A Day's Pay (Open)

Postby Quelen Dran'Sora on July 24th, 2011, 11:40 pm

Quelen gave a surprised gasp as the girl performed an impressive bit of jumping, and then ran off. With wide eyes Quelen watched, unsure what to make of all this. In Charbosi if someone was hurt they would gladly accept help from the other Charodae, but it seemed the girl, even though she was hurt, didn't want any help. Was this something landwalkers did?

Turning towards the Nuit, along with the newly approached Konti, she asked, "Should someone go after her? She doesn't seem terribly hurt, but do landwalkers normally run off like that after having a fall like that?" she stood up on the tips of her toes to peer over in the direction she had seen the girl last, and it looked like the girl was now peeping out of a crate, "Or maybe it's something that happens in Mura?" she turned her curious gaze to the Konti, the one most likely to know the answer.

Vapis shook his head in resignment as the girl flipped back and then forward and over them. Some people were like that He supposed Though it would make more sense if she was a magic user afraid of being discovered and attacked for it. He wondered, not for the first time what the flash of light had been and if the girl was simply not human.

"No, we don't," said the Nut, still shaking his head "Normally, we allow ourselves to be helped by trustworthy people instead of running away and possibly making our injury worse." He pitched the last bit so that it would be clearly audible by anyone in the market, hoping the girl would hear it and come out. "But I don't know anything about Muran customs"

Keyta quickly returns her clothes to their original locations and tries to calm herself down enough to re-emerge. With a silent breath, the little girl comes out of her hiding place and bows in front of the crowd with closed eyes. Her straight face showing no emotion as she comes back to a standing position and slowly opens both of her eyes again. She was ready to face any questions they asked, but wasn't sure how she would answer. She takes a seat with her legs to the side as she pulls out an apple from her bag and slowly begins gnawing on it.

Quelen tilted her head curiously at the girl as she listened to the musician's explanation. Was there something different about this girl that made her scared of others? Quelen couldn't think of why she would be scared, everyone on Mura had been so nice, and that just made her more curious.

WIth the girl coming out and sitting down Quelen smiled and approached her slowly. She intended to introduce herself, but the strange item the girl produced from her bag caught her attention at first. She thought for a moment, trying to remember landwalker food, and then her face brightened, "Is that a good pear? I've heard they're really delicious, what does it taste like?"

Vapis smiled at the fish-woman trying to make friends with the scared little urchin. They were clearly going to be fast friends soon, even if Quelen had trouble understanding what was what above the surface of the water. For now, though, Vapis chose to keep his distance. He didn't want to frighten the girl and risk scaring her off when he had so many questions to ask her.

He racked his mind for any type of magic he could think of that would make the flash of light he'd seen, and came up with only 3 possibilities. He went over these in his mind.
1. The flash of lights had been non-arcane, the result of some sort of explosive or refraction of the sun
2.There had been no flash. In the excitement, the glare off some metal object had tricked his eyes.
3. The flash had been the result of some unknown form of magic.
Given that he had some small experience with pyrotechnics, and the lights had been too complicated to simply be glare, he was inclined to think possibility number three was the most likely.

Vapis nodded thoughfully, rubbing his chin as he did so. He definitely had some questions to ask the girl.

The small girl sat up as straight as she could as the first person approached her, but started to slouch and tilt her head when the strange woman called her fruit a peach. She was certain for a long time that this fruit was called an apple, but with how certain Quelen was when she spoke, it confused the poor kelvic. Keyta started at the fruit, looked back up and noticed a smile full of teeth, really sharp teeth. A small shiver of fear ran from the top of her spine to her toes but she only flinched a small amount and remained seated anyways. Only then did she notice another man, also strange by her standards, was just standing there staring at her. Thought started to run through her head, trying to figure out just what this man was thinking, or what he was looking at. She lifted her apple and looked down at her tunic to see if there was a stain, with nothing there she checked her sleeves next. Not able to figure it out, Keyta gave up and went back to her gnawing of the apple.

Quelen tilted her head as the girl looked around, as if hearing Quelen's words, but didn't utter a sound. She looked at Quelen, flinched at Quelen's smile, and then she looked at the Nuit. After a bit of silent contemplation the girl then went back to eating her fruit. Had Quelen's presence bothered her? So far everyone she had met had been excited to meet a Charoda, but Quelen should have known that not everyone would feel that way. She certainly didn't want to be a bother.

"Well, you seem hungry. I'll leave you to your eating," Quelen said brightly, giving a brief smile to the girl before getting up and starting to walk away.

As reasonable as she was trying to be about the situation the thought of anyone, especially a young landwalker, being afraid or disliking her presence was a rather large blow to Quelen's confidence. Maybe it would be best to return to the lake for now, and try to figure out how to be more pleasant in the future...
