What's For Dinner? [Seliarus]

The Wilderness of Cyphrus is an endless sea of tall grass that rolls just like the oceans themselves. Geysers kiss the sky with their steamy breath, and mysterious craters create microworlds all their own. But above all danger lives here in the tall grass in the form of fierce wild creatures; elegant serpents that swim through the land like whales through the ocean and fierce packs of glassbeaks that hunt in packs which are only kept at bay by fires. Traverse it carefully, with a guide if possible, for those that venture alone endanger themselves in countless ways.

Fall 3

For a while now, Nida's hunger pangs had been slowly increasing. While her smaller kin could live on a single mountain goat for two weeks, Nida's body required much more than that. It was hard enough that she had to control her hunger and not drag away a few humans from the camp, but they had to parade their horses in front of her too! It was as if the whole thing was a game designed to tantalize the Kelvic.

But at this very moment, none of that mattered. She didn't have to put up with the stench of smoke and cooking oil, or the clang of weapons and the wail of children. Now it was time to hunt.

Bare footed, the young girl sauntered into the tall grass, letting the tips of the greenery stroke across her outstretched palms. For a moment, a day, she didn't have to pretend to be a two-legger.

She shrugged out of her tunic and pulled off her breeches in a blur of excitement, tying them in a loose knot around her calf. Then she began to shift. Her skin dissolved into a million points of light, each flashing busily about it's own business as they slowly put her body back into its natural shape. When at last a leopard stood where a human once did, the animal gave a visible sigh of relief.

Nida turned to her Bondmate, her teeth flashing in the bright sunlight and her emotions excited and eager. Her every movement and aspect seemed to communicate one idea:

"Let's hunt."

What's For Dinner? [Seliarus]

The Dhani , as the silent type he was, did nothing to give away his feelings. He didn't for so long, now. From the caravan they were in, he stood silent. The pale skinned human, in long, endless tunnels... That made him grow uneasy. And not to mention, his last sacrifice was two seasons ago. Siku was not pleased. He just knew she wouldn't be pleased. And, mercy on your soul if you do not please your goddess.

However, now was something different. Summer was at an end, and the coldness was returning. The same coldness that was there every year. Before he'd meet the two travelling girls. Hard to imagine almost a year passed already.

But now, he had Her. The still naked blue haired girl, who acted like a child who firstly got in contact with the wilderness. The girl who, in just a moment after that, turned into a massive, oversized cat, with fangs even the Dhani felt jealousy. Yes, his Bondmate, as he was taught to call the relationship, was simply something unique in his life.

The hunt.

It would be safe to say that both of them hardly could of wait any longer. Even though the desire was different, it was yet so similar. Inflicting pain. Taking a life. Be it the animal in you, or the sadistic second you. It didn't matter. It never did matter.

So, as his Bondmate shifted, he walked to her. Silently, and unheard of anyone. His lightweight self pressing against the tall grass, as he stepped in front of the Leopard. Placing his cold, pale palm on her muzzle, and gently stroked her across her quite cat-y nose. He didn't say anything, but he also couldn't wait any more. He gave her a nod.

And without saying a word, it echoed in his head. Might as well be in hers. "Let's Hunt."
"Who knows? Life is like a roll on the dice. You can’t know if something is a good, or a bad roll until it already happened."

What's For Dinner? [Seliarus]

A deep rumbling purr came from Nida as Seliarus stroked her muzzle. She leaned forward a bit at that contact, relishing its gentleness. It seemed like they were always like this with each other, always looking for an opportunity to touch. But that kind of human gentleness was not to be found in the hunt. This was about speed and the kill, and the red blood of victory coating your fangs.

No, as much as she yearned for that simple touch, it had no place here.

She nudged him gently, and pointedly looked toward the horizon, far away from the loud sounds and smoky smells of Endrykas. Her huge paws took her forwards in the leopard version of a trot, and she turned to see if Seliarus could keep up. If he could not, she'd slow down.

As they traveled forwards, Nida's mouth open to catch any scent of wildlife, the Sea of Grass swallowed them whole. Without the clamor of Endrykas around them, it was almost dreamlike. As if there was no barrier between the sky and Sea, for she could see no landmarks nor distinguishing features that interrupted the horizon.

It felt like she and Seliarus were the only ones alive.

It was a chilling thought, but somehow it also managed to comfort Nida. But she reminded herself not to be distracted, and pushed it out of her mind. That was unimportant, a useless fancy. All that mattered was the hunt.

After they had run for what seemed like an eternity in the never ending grass, the Kelvic picked up a scent. It was vastly different than the smell of deer, bears, or cats. Those kinds of creatures lived in the artic climes, and she was well familiar with their scents. This, however, was nothing like theirs. In a brief second, Nida's mind compared it to that of an eagle or another bird. She hadn't had much opportunity to smell birds before, and the scent of one confused her. Was there nothing that had more meat on its bones here on the Sea of Grass? Nida hardly wanted to bring a tiny little chicken back to Endrykas.

The scent grew stronger, and a rustling in the grass before her made Nida's eyes narrow in wariness. A tiny bird should not move that much grass as it walked. Something was very wrong here.

In a flash, the strange animal was upon them. It was nothing like the oversized chicken or crow that Nida had guessed at. The Glassbeak sped towards the smaller of the two creatures - Seliarus - but was promptly met by the snarling maw of a furious leopard.

As soon as the Glassbeak had erupted from the grass, Nida had thrown herself in front of Seliarus. He was too vulnerable in his human form! He needed time to shift! The brief moment of elation at protecting her Bondmate passed as the powerful legs of the Glassbeak kicked up and fastened their talons to her flesh.

Nida roared in pain and fury, lashing out with her claws and lashing at the Glassbeak's body. But it too was focused on killing her quickly, raising its beak to tear at her even as Nida prepared to fasten her teeth around it's neck.

The Dhani in his human form ran besides the big leopard. Even though still human, his actual running was way faster than your average pink-skin-boy. The grass on his legs, the rapid breathing. Heart beating faster and faster, as the body pushed every inch of his blood throughout the body for energy and oxygen. The excitement filled his body. The thrill of the hunt once more flushed every other feeling aside. In his head, he started to calculate where he should bite first. Where should his fangs enter his victim. And why there. Gruesome, bloody images filled his head, filled his mind. Filled.... Until.

Until.

Until something flashed trough the tall grass. It all happened in one eye-blinking moment, but he didn't miss a bit of it. A feathery creature jumped out, and went airborne on the human Dhani, yet, before he could do anything, his bondmate jumped in front of him. That gave him just enough time to stop thinking on his own safety, and start worrying about Nida's. Damn it. They both wanted to protect each other, and disliked being protected. Oxymoron statement.

But, quickly as he could, the Dhani dropped his backpack on the ground, and with one swift motion, pulled his shirt off as well, going to reveal his seemingly starved out body-built. Yet, the snake-man didn't plan on charming the Glassbeak with his good looks. Not just yet, that is. The Dhani felt on his knees, and closed his eyes, focusing on the transformation to his Dhani self. And, as he was changing, as every bone in his body changed shape and position, he'd slip out of his clothing, before growing in size. His hair retreating in his head, leaving a hairless face, which slowly began to grow scales. Soon, his two legs merged into one big tail, and his skin changed colours as well.

Now...He could charm the bird with his looks.

A ear-piercing hiss was released from the lips of the Dhani, and his long tongue was now poking out of his snout. His palms clenched in a fist, and his tail waving elegantly trough the air. Before his tail coiled underneath him. Made contact with the ground, and the Dhani bowed down.

Sel did whisper out the name of his goddess, much as presenting this as her gift, to Siku, before he did use his tail to catapult himself up in the air, the coiled tail serving as some sort of trampoline. He tried to jump over his bondmate, and take the fight with the Glassbeak as every snake did. On surprise, from behind.
"Who knows? Life is like a roll on the dice. You can’t know if something is a good, or a bad roll until it already happened."

What's For Dinner? [Seliarus]

Nida cried out in agony as the bird sank its razor sharp talons into her flesh, coating the Glassbeak's legs in ruby red blood. She kicked out desperately, trying to get the bird off of her, but only suceeded in slicing deep gouges in the beast's belly. It ignored the pain and its beady eyes seemed to glisten with excitement.

With a roar, Nida tore herself free from the Glassbeak, the edges of her vision blurring from the excuisite pain. She was a predator, but she'd never met such an animal as this. The bird's surprise attack had gained it the upper hand, and as droplets of Nida's blood smacked against the crushed grass at her feet, she realized that it was very likely the deadly bird would win.

But that would mean...

"Sel!" the word shook through her massive frame, rendered incomprehensible by the sandpapery language it was spoken in: the tongue of cats. She would not die at the talons of this... this over-sized chicken! Nor would she leave Seliarus to face it alone.

In a blur of snowy white and crimson red, she launched herself at the beast, ripping at it with wild abandon. The bird only hesitated a second before doing likewise. It pushed her against the ground, baring her belly before preparing itself to tear into the soft flesh there.

Her blurred vision began to blur even more. Soon she could see nothing but her enemy. Nothing but shapes and confusing colors. Nida couldn't let herself fall into unconciousness. She wouldn't!

But then a shape appeared behind the bird. A dark and sinuous shape, like smoke on the wind. No, much more familiar and dear than that. "Sel" she growled again, choking on the blood in her throat. Whether it was hers or the Glassbeak's, she could not tell. Nor could she conceal the panic that ran unchecked through her side of the Bond.

OOCYou can go ahead and kill the Glassbeak, Break :) Controlling its actions is up to you too!
