IC News travels slowly in Mizahar. Fortunately there is a constant stream of news from around campfires, from caravan to caravan and from merchants to merchants. Within this forum lies the best of the best of this talk. Also, within this forum, OOC news from the staff and players can be found. This forum requires all posts to be 'approved' by a Founder before they are displayed. So if you post within, be patient. Your post did display - it simply will not show to everyone until approved as actual 'news'. Please keep all Introductions, Status Updates, and various other discussions in their appropriate forums and leave this area for game news!

September's Featured Thread: Return to Ahnatep

Our last month's winners - Dor and Duvalyon Hellebore - have selected a thread for this month of September they'd like to Feature. Dor wrote the review. Please enjoy!

Return to Ahnatep

Suffering. Emptiness. Regret. Longing. Wrath. Revenge. Death.

These are the choices lining the path of this month's thread, eloquently stamped upon the opposite side of the previous months' coin where love was the larger of the themes. They are shown to the reader with descriptive words and a lack of excess, ultimately constructing a narrative as layered as an onion. This is a solo thread composed with a very serious set of writing chops.

Faroul has emerged from the darkest pits of Mizaharian hell only to be placed with deadly deliberation at the steps of ancient Ahnatep more like the pawn he is than the baggage he could be perceived as. He has beyond all expectation survived the tangled trap of political plots only to find himself at the feet of yet another; and, more to the point, he is clever and damaged enough to be aware of this probability.

A whirlwind rocked these gilded streets of Ekytol last Faroul walked them and in the gathering night it is suggested that another builds. His player depicts humanity -- humanity as defined by people, not by races -- with an unrelenting courage to confront the blackest truths of them. As for Faroul himself, he incapable of being labeled, not boxed by words such as hero or villain. Fresh from the pit, it remains to be seen which, if either of these, he will become.

Go read it. You will enjoy.

You are one of the "Benshirans" I know (granted, there aren't a lot around)... and I am glad that you continue writing for Mizahar.

Your thread with (at the end) Bina and Siiri? Totally wicked! ;) I find all your threads fun to read. Hope you keep writing! Thanks for "coming back"!

I am nothing special, of this I am sure. I am a common woman with common thoughts and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me, this has always been enough.

Congratulations! I've quietly enjoyed your writing too. Also, I want a welcome mat that says "Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'intrate", but I have yet to find one. Sadness.

Hey, I just wanted to say how much I loved this thread. I can remember thinking how well you captured the flavor of the desert, the city, and the people.

Good job, Faroul! Give us more, and please come back to Yahebah. We can play games. :)

Thank you for your kind remarks, everyone! Thanks also to Dor and Duvalyon for the selection. I'm very glad that all of you enjoyed the thread. The funny thing is that it isn't finished yet - I really should get on that! :embarrassed:

Yahebah, huh? *scratches chin* Very tempting indeed. I'll have to concoct a reason to get down there sometime!

In any case, thank you for reading. :)
