Gods is it cold up here! (Kaito)

Time Stamp: Late at Night on the 35th of Fall
Location: A few days' travel from Avanthal

Tessa stood in the lee of a snowdrift at the edge of the caravan’s camp, the three wagons drawn into a rough circle and scanned the land around herself again. Still all quiet, quiet was good. The cold however, wasn’t. She curled and uncurled her toes inside her boots to keep the blood flowing, reassured that she could still feel them. Gods it really was cold up here. She’d heard stories about it of course, but even so she hadn’t been quite prepared for the reality. At least the spot she’d picked was out of the wind, and there was a bit of a break in the near constant snowfall they’d had for the last two weeks. The smouldering fire looked particularly appealing right now, off in the centre of the camp with her watch partner crouched by it, but she resisted heading towards to it. Luke’s words of advice were still there in her mind, his gruff voice echoing away, “Never be close to the fires. It gives someone a better chance to put a shaft in your pretty chest.” just as it always did on the nights she was on watch. She wasn’t quite sure what he’d make of this though, he’d probably curse a lot. Then again, would it be so bad to spend a bit time at the fire? She couldn’t imagine anyone desperate enough to be a bandit up here in this weather, and apparently they were only a few days travel from Avanthal itself and those giant ice bears that kept watch over it. She sighed, her breath misting in front of her face thickly and shook her head, a little cold was better than getting a knife in the back, and for all she knew maybe there were people up here who lived out here, some sort of snow people who wore animal furs and hunted with weapons made of their teeth? Or she could be being silly, the latter was more likely.

She had to grin though as she looked around again, who’d have thought she’d come so far? For all the cold it was glorious out here, everywhere she looked, for as far as she could see was the same pristine glittering white, the cloudy skies about an odd pinkish yellow colour that she’d never seen anywhere else. Still, she was glad to know they’d be reaching the city soon, if nothing else she could buy some warmer clothes there. She was already wearing practically everything she owned, including the nightshirt she’d picked up at the Bazaar in Syliras. She’d chopped some lengths from her blanket too, wrapping her hands and feet in them in sort of makeshift socks and gloves. True it made her boots a little uncomfortable, but better that than her toes going black and falling. She still wasn’t quite sure if she believed the guard who’d told her that, Povril she thought his name was, but what with how cold it was she wasn’t about to take that chance. But even with all of that and her now shortened blanket wrapped around her shoulders like a shawl it wasn’t enough. She’d thought about bringing her bed roll out with her and standing in it, but then she’d not be able to move were something to happen. Well she would, but she’d end up falling on her face and lying there like some sort of great woolly slug. A warm woolly slug maybe, but slugs weren’t exactly useful on watch, were they?

At least she only had another couple of bells ‘til her spell on watch was up, and then she could crawl back into her tent and get about as warm as she could up here. Though if that letch offered just one more time to help keep her warm at night she’d…. she’d… ahhh who was she kidding? She knew she couldn’t do anything to him, not without upsetting her employer, and given that it was his good graces she was relying on to get a decent wage out of this trip she had to keep him sweet. So she’d just have to put up with him for a few more days, and then be glad to see the back of him. Maybe if the Gods were good to her they’d grant that she’d never see him again. It was a cheering thought to speed the night on by, all that time to come when she’d not have to see him and his irritating smile, or tolerate the sheer amount of time he spent staring at her chest. You’d think he’d have gotten bored of it by now wouldn’t you? She wriggled her fingers and toes again, lifting the former to her lips and blowing on them before shoving them under her armpits and clutching tightly to herself. Just another couple of bells to go, and then she’d be warm again. It wasn’t that long to wait was it?

Gods is it cold up here! (Kaito)

Postby Kaito on October 3rd, 2011, 8:29 pm

Day 35 Fall 511 AV. Evening.

The small fox wandered within the woods trying to locate a source of food. Her ears twitched, Fire? the thought raced through her mind at the sound. So many questions floated through her mind: was it controlled, if not would it keep burning; if it was, who was controlling it? She had to investigate it. The adrenaline fueling her short limbs as she pushed herself forward. As she grew closer to the sound, she could hear breathing. People perhaps? Would they let her accompany them? Was she saved from her own demise?

Slowing her pace, the young Kelvic grew cautious. What if these people were not friendly? Maybe they hated all Kelvic. She had never been outside of Avanthal, so her knowledge of the world was limited. The soft gleam of the fire grew closer as she padded her way over the snow. Her furry paws cushioned any sound and allowed her to maintain her location unknown. White fur blended with the snow as she began to creep towards the camp.

Her ears twitched as she heard someone move, her head whisking to meet up with the noise. Not far from her sat a girl, human she believed, with blue eyes, the girl was wrapped in a variety of bits of cloth, but the fox couldn't quite tell what all it was. More than anything, she felt as though she had known this person, but wasn't quite sure how. Kaito turned more fully towards the human, but dared not move closer. She continued to stare, seemingly lost in her own thoughts.

Time seemed to stand still for the fox as she lost track of time, then she heard it. That glorious sound of crunching under the snow. Her ears perked up and her eyes gleamed as she scanned the surface for the sound. Locating it, she stormed forward, before diving into the snow her back half stick out above it, tail wagging furiously. She stayed there for for a few moments silently celebrating, before pulling herself out to reveal the fat, limp mouse within her jaws. Looking back at the human, she found that the distance between them had closed considerably. Not wanting to seem threatening, the fox laid in the snow, tail wagging as she set the mouse down on her paws and made a soft yip, before she started to pull the fur off of it's skin.

Gods is it cold up here! (Kaito)

Postby Tessa Poe on October 3rd, 2011, 11:10 pm

If there was one thing she knew she’d never get used to, it was how boring being on watch could be. She knew that there could be danger anywhere, in fact there probably was something dangerous within a mile or so of the camp, but making herself remember that, particularly towards the end of the night was always difficult. She was freezing, exhausted and quite frankly sick and tired of standing in the snow checking to make sure her fingers and toes weren’t about to fall off. She huffed out another breath, trying to see patterns in the way her breath twisted and curled in front of her eyes, it was better than just standing there. Maybe she should have a walk round the camp… a little moving around to get the blood flowing again might warm her up a bit. If nothing else it’d definitely stop her freezing solidly in place. Silly as it sounded she was starting to worry that it might actually be possible.

She stretched, working some life back into her muscles, still slightly amazed by just how quiet it was up here. She was used to the forests, to the constant chitter of life and the rustling of the breeze in the trees. Out here though there was nothing… not a sound. It did make her job easier though, the knowledge that she’d most likely hear anything coming before it got close enough to cause any trouble was sort of reassuring too.

She was about to push off away from the snowdrift and start her circuit of the camp when she heard the sound of something crunching lightly through the snow, and moving fast too. She dropped into a slight crouch, ready to draw as she stared into the darkness and then… she saw a flash of white against white and suddenly there was a… a… tail? It wasn't all that long, maybe a foot or so and was attached to the back of something half buried in the snow as it wagged furiously. She glanced over towards the fire, seeing her partner on the watch half on his feet and waving him away. Whatever the little thing out there was it certainly wasn’t a threat. She watched curiously as it backed out of the hole it’d made in the snow, some little creature held in its jaws and for a moment a chill deeper than the one that lingered in the air ran down her back… until she realised what it was. It wasn’t a... a dog, it was a fox, a little white one, just like Laeon. Well it had thicker fur, which it probably needed given the temperatures up here, but it was just about the same shape… a little bigger maybe.

The memory brought a little smile of relief to grace her lips as she squatted down, eyes curiously flicking over the little creature. It certainly seemed happy enough over there with its prey, and its little yip had almost been a greeting. It was probably best that she didn’t disturb it, wild animals didn’t like it when you did that after all, especially when they were feeding, and for all its small size its teeth were obviously sharp. That much she could tell by the way they started stripping the fur from whatever it was it’d caught. There was something odd about it though and she couldn’t quite figure out what it was. There was the way it’d looked at her, the fact that it wasn’t darting off into the snow with its prize too… maybe it was just used to seeing people round these parts and wasn’t too worried by them? But then, with that thick fur, surely the little fox would’ve been a target for hunters? She had a feeling that whatever you called people who made clothes out of fur wouldn’t mind using the fox’s at all. The ones back in Syliras had been more than happy to use the rabbit skins she’d brought in from time to time after all.

She cocked her head, wanting to inch closer, to get a better look at the little thing, but still caution held her back. “Aren’t you the curious little thing?” she finally asked thoughtfully, her voice soft as she smiled again, “Look at me, the cold must be getting to me after all, here I am talking to a fox of all things. Still at least you’ll be better conversation than the letch won’t you?” She finished with a grin as she squatted, watching in fascination as the fox’s nimble little jaws tore into its meal. Absent mindedly she started patting her pockets ‘til she came across a little dried meat she'd pocketed to help get her through the night. Unfortunately even after all these days on the road she wasn’t entirely sure what it’d been originally. Bloody cheap merchant skimping on the rations, honestly it'd been a nightmare to make anything decent to eat at all out here. She shrugged and reached forwards to set it down in front of her before drawing back again. Maybe the little fox would still be hungry, hungry enough to risk the mystery meat, and might come closer? It was certainly more interesting than looking at nothing much at all on her watch, and it really was cute. She grinned at the thought of bringing it along with her, especially since when she finally made it back to Syliras she could show it to Erzotol, and then Laeon would have a little playmate too. It’d be something to start a conversation with for sure at least.

Her eyes gleamed as she munched happily on her prey, still watching the girl before her. The human seemed to be thinking about a variety of things, and obviously wanted to come closer, not that she would mind. If there was one thing she did love about people, it was their hands and their ability to scratch that spot right behind her ears. Kaito watched as the girl squatted down to study her further and her tail wagged a bit more. She was starting to like this human. Still lost in her thoughts, the girl smiled softly with an emotion the fox couldn't quite place.

“Aren’t you the curious little thing?” the human questioned to herself.

Ah, so she thinks that I'm a wild fox. That's interesting. she thought to herself still holding the gaze of the human as she finished her mouse.

“Look at me, the cold must be getting to me after all, here I am talking to a fox of all things. Still at least you’ll be better conversation than the letch won’t you?” The human continued.

The fox cocked her head to the side in confusion. Still watching as the human pulled a piece of meat out of her pocket before setting it on the snow. The white fox jumped to her feet and walked forward before grabbing the meat in her jaws. She yipped as she happily chewed on the meat before walking right over to the human and nudging her hand with her nose. It was rather cold and she knew better than to switch back to her human form for long here in the open and especially not as night was approaching.

Gods is it cold up here! (Kaito)

She grinned happily as the little fox gave another little yip and wandered over to pick up the little treat she’d left for it, still curious about it and the way it kept meeting her eyes. As far as she knew most wild animals didn’t do that, something about seeming it acting like a threat maybe? Ugh she knew that was going to nag at her now, she couldn’t for life of her remember who’d told her that. She stayed squatting a couple of paces from the meat she'd left, fascinated by the little thing, even if she was a little jealous of the thick coat of fur that it had. Gods she'd kill for a coat like that right now, the first thing she was going to do when they got to Avanthal was find someone, anyone, to sell her something warm to wear.

She really couldn’t help but watch those nimble little jaws as the fox turned its head to pick up the chunk of meat and started chewing away contentedly on it. It’s true, she wasn’t exactly happy about looking at its teeth, but it was a little critter and it seemed perfectly happy not to bite her, both of which she found reassuring. “Well at least you seem nice and warm there,” she said with a another grin, bringing her hands up to her lips and blowing hard on the before letting them hang slackly at her sides. “You’re very tame though, I wonder if you find caravans out here often or something?” She chuckled ruefully and hunched her shoulders some more, trying to bury herself deeper under the layers of clothes she was wearing. Her bedroll was sound really rather nice right about now.

She watched as the fox gulped down the last little bit of meat, a sudden wash of regret running through her. The little thing was probably going to wander off and she knew she didn’t have any more dried meat to convince it to stay. She sighed and glanced around, trying to work out how much longer she had left out here, until she heard the sound of its little paws crunching against the snow. She glanced down just in time to see it press its nose against her hand and for a moment all she could was sit there, utterly and completely still. She wasn’t even breathing as she stared down at it, the image of those little teeth sitting firmly at the forefront of her mind, but… it wasn’t doing anything. Slowly, tentatively she found her other hand moving to hover over the fox’s head. Somewhere in her head was a little voice screaming about how it was a wild animal, that she shouldn’t touch it, that she knew exactly what happened when you did, but her hand seemed to be ignoring that. Her fingers ran through the soft, warm fur, her nails scratching lightly seemingly all by themselves and relishing the feeling of it.

Finally she realised she had to breath and she sucked in a great gasp, breaking into a fit of coughing as the cold air scoured the back of her throat. “Sorry about that little one…” she managed after a moment or two, “Not really used to this you see, the cold and… well you really.” she chuckled softly again, truth was if it hadn’t been for meeting Erzotol she’d have had a far less dignified reaction to the little fox’s apparently friendly nature.

Gods is it cold up here! (Kaito)

OCC: Yes, fox can purr. I googled this for certain. There's not a name for the sound, but it sounds a lot like a cat's purr.

Kaito snickered mentally at the human's instant pause of fear by her approach. This girl was growing on her and never ceased to entertain her curiosity. She waited a bit for the girl to grasp what she wanted. The girl didn't move the hand she had nudged, but instead slowly brought up her other. The fox waited patiently, knowing the strange human was afraid as made apparent by her occasional pauses. It was interesting that someone who appeared to be so cold was not jumping at the opportunity to warm their fingers. Which reminded her, not for the first time today, exactly how much she loved her white coat. Fingers gently worked their way down through the fur on her head before they slowly began to move in an back and forth motion. There were things she loved about humans and this was one of them, she mused as she leaned her head back into the hand and purred happily. She registered the female voice speaking to her and caught a few words through her happy daze, sorry...cold... floated through her mind, causing her to mentally respond. Cold? There's not a reason for your layers of clothing. Kaito laughed at her own joke, which came out in the form of a couple happy yips.

As much as she enjoyed the feel of the human's fingers, she was growing tired. The yawn came faster than she had expected and she couldn't help but lay on the snow in response, hoping the human's hand would follow. She wasn't disappointed as the fingers followed her small decrease in height, obviously still enjoying the warmth. Lids closed over blue orbs as she continued to purr from her new position. What would this girl would do if she knew I was a Kelvic. she wondered mindlessly, before shrugging the question off. It was a bit too cold to find out here in the snow.

Gods is it cold up here! (Kaito)

Postby Tessa Poe on October 10th, 2011, 2:55 pm

The rest of her watch seemed to go by all the quicker with the little fox happily purring at her feet for company. She hadn’t known foxes could purr, but then you always learned something every day didn’t you? Regardless it seemed perfectly happy to lie at her feet and she was happy for it to stay there. She spread her coat out behind her, making sure that it wouldn’t let the snow through before she sat crosslegged on it, grateful that it was mostly waterproof. Her fingers kept running through the fox’s oh so soft fur, something that did wonders for warming them too. At least she wouldn’t have to worry about them falling off for the moment. She started to hum quietly as she waited, a slow, pleasant little tune that was easy enough to repeat, more for something to do than anything else.

Finally it seemed her watch was coming to an end. There was a stirring in the camp as a pair of guards emerged from their tents, the first sounds she’d heard other than the crackle and pop of the fire and the fox’s contented purring for the last bell. Nothing had stirred out there beyond the firelight’s reach as far as she could tell and when Porvil came to relieve her she gratefully stood and prepared to head for her tent.
Hoi Tessa, who’s your new friend?
Hmmm? Oh it wandered up about a bell ago, cute little thing isn’t it?
Yep… you know, I’d bet they’d pay a few gold for fur like that in Avanthal. Make a nice pair of mittens or something out of it…” Povril tailed off suggestively, his eyes locked on the little fox.
Tessa had taken a couple of steps away from him, her mind only half focused on what he’d been saying as a wide yawn cracked her jaws. As soon as he mentioned the mittens and all though she span on her heel, boots crunching in the snow with her lips drawn into a thin line.
No. Leave it alone. In fact…” before she could think better of it Tessa leant over and scooped the little fox up, cradling it to her chest carefully. “It’s mine alright? Mine. You just… just remember that! Alright?” It wasn’t the best thing to say perhaps, others might have thought of something far more intimidating or kept him quiet with a joke… but it’d do. She’d made her point after all, that was the important thing. She strode off to her tent still carrying the fox, if Povril replied to her assertion she didn’t hear it. Her fingers lightly scratched at its belly where it rested against her palm, feeling the heat leaching through her coat as she did so. If only she had another couple of these to put in her pockets… she’d never be cold again!

As she crossed the camp she was still trying to figure out exactly why she’d done this. It was a female fox, that much she knew for certain now, though she had no idea what the proper word for that was. It wasn’t exactly something she’d spent a lot of time studying really, they’d looked a little too much like dogs for her liking and all. Still this one seemed really quite tame, tamer than she’d have thought it would be, which was all the better. Povril might have been a decent sort of bloke most of the time, but the way he’d looked at the fox with greed in his eyes had been a little disturbing.

I suppose keeping you out of his hands is the least I can do for you seeing how you kept me company on watch," she finally said with a little smile as she set the fox down and undid the toggles that kept her tent flap shut. She knelt and crawled in before flipping over and taking her boots off before scraping the worst of the snow from them and bringing them inside as well. She left the flap open though and quickly fished around in her pack, finding some more of the beef jerky she’d picked up in Syliras and tearing a chunk from it. She left it at the entrance, leaving it up to the little fox if it wanted to come inside or not. Usually she’d never have invited a wild animal in, but so far… there was something different about this one, something that she couldn’t put her finger on. Maybe it really was just used to seeing travellers… but then Povril surely wouldn’t have been the only one to have the thought that he did. She shrugged and slipped the toggles on her bedroll open and got ready to climb in, she’d seal the tent once the fox had made up its mind.

Gods is it cold up here! (Kaito)

Postby Kaito on October 10th, 2011, 9:19 pm

Her little nap had been quite relaxing. She loved the gentle motion of this human's fingers. Hearing footsteps, she groggily opened her eyes. This other human was male and the way he looked at her set the little fox on edge. Mittens!! she mentally screeched bolting into a sitting position and staring wide-eyed at the male. How dare he! she began to rant and was about to start growling at him, until she felt herself being lifted into the air. The girl, who had been petting her, went on to tell the man that she belonged to the human female. This caused Kaito pause, she hadn't considered such a thing before, but she had heard of it. In fact it wasn't uncommon for Kelvic to be the companion of a human and she most certainly wasn't against it, it just gave her this weird feeling and she couldn't quite place what it was.

The trek across the camp allowed her to see that there was fire in the middle and the tents were placed within view of it. She debated for a moment if she should just let this girl continue and take her to wherever they were going. What if she was actually going to try to turn her into mittens? No, this human didn't seem like that sort. She glanced up at the girl and noticed she was lost in her own thoughts. When the girl set her down just outside the tent, she had another moment of doubt, but quickly brushed it off. Then, the girl went inside, just leaving her out there. I guess that's it then. sighed the Kelvic and she was getting ready to leave when the piece of meat appeared outside the tent and she noticed that flap was still open. She jumped at the jerky, happily chewing it while her tail wagged. There was someone watching her though and they weren't friendly. The little fox slowly turned her head to lock eyes with the human who had mentioned mittens, he seemed to be nearing her slightly. Her meal finished, the fox took the opportunity to growl and bare her teeth at him, causing him to pause. The Kelvic took this moment to turn and enter through the open flap.

Stepping through the opening, she glanced around quickly, before moving towards the back corner, away from the terrible man who wanted to turn her into mittens. It was shocking to her that someone would dare think of doing that, especially to a Kelvic. It was about this time that she realized that everyone thought she was just a fox. That would be a surprise to this girl...Tessa? That sounded right, though her enunciation may be off slightly. She watched as the girl closed the flap. Well, it was now or never. The ball of light engulfed her and suddenly, instead of a small arctic fox, sat a young girl with white hair. "You're name is Tessa? " she asked the human the best she could in the common language. "I'm Kaito." She wasn't perfect at it, but she knew enough. "I'm sorry if I scared you, but I'm a Kelvic from Avanthal." Her blue orbs stayed on the human, she was unsure of what the girl's reaction would be, but if needed she would revert back to her fox form and run. She just hoped she wouldn't have to, she was growing quite fond of this girl.

Gods is it cold up here! (Kaito)

Postby Tessa Poe on October 11th, 2011, 5:23 pm

Tessa lifted her lantern down from the cross pole and opened it, quickly digging out her flint and steel and striking them ‘til the wick caught, a soft, warm light filling the tent as she raised it back up and hung it in its place. She settled back on her knees, her eyes drawn to the little fox again as it hesitated at the entrance way before it came through the flap and skittered off to the back corner. Apparently it did want to join her, but that might have been because it could smell more of the jerky in her pack. She’d have to make sure it was sealed tightly to keep the critter out of there, she didn’t want it to gobble down all her supplies after all. Especially given the 'food' her cheapskate employer had provided for the guards. Still she had to smile to herself as she crawled to the flap and sealed it shut against the cold, carefully, pinning what was left of her blanket to the flap to help keep the draft out. Who’d have known her sewing kit would’ve come in handy for that? She cast her eye over her improvised seal and nodded in approval, it wouldn’t be too long now ‘til the tent warmed up a little, especially with the light covering of snow that sat over it. She didn’t exactly understand why it worked, but after a couple of weeks of tramping through the stuff it seemed that the tent warmed up faster with snow on it than without. It was probably best to just thankful that it worked that way and forget about it, at least until she got to Avanthal. Seeing as how they lived up here in it all the time maybe they’d know why it worked the way it did.

Without warning there was a bright flash of light from behind her and before she could think Tessa was spinning on the spot with a surprised squeak of surprise. The tent shook alarmingly, its movements setting the lantern swaying above her as her knees dug into and twisted the ground sheet. One hand dropped to her sword, an instinctive reaction that wouldn’t do any good at all, it wasn’t like she had the room to draw the thing in here. Her other hand seemed to be thinking more clearly though as it slipped into one of her pockets, fumbling for a moment before it grasped the hilt of one of her daggers. There was panic flaring in her eyes as she stared into her tent, her eyes quickly finding… a girl? Tessa blinked a couple of times, her hands releasing their hold on her weapons as one rubbed across her eyes.

It must’ve been the cold, and how exhausted she was, she had to have been seeing things, right?

No, no she definitely wasn’t seeing things. There, in the back corner of her tent was a small girl with white blond hair. Correction, a small naked girl with white blond hair. The girl spoke as Tessa gaped at her, introducing herself and explaining she was a Kelvic. Understanding blossomed across her face as Tessa finally realised what was going on. That was why the fox had seemed so tame, it wasn’t a fox at all. Well it was, and it wasn’t, she didn’t really know all that much about Kelvics, other than that they could turn into animals somehow.

She realised her mouth was hanging open and snapped it shut, her mind finally catching up to the rest of her as she shuffled her way out her coat and offered it to Kaito, her cheeks flushing as she turned away. What would she think of her? Staring at her as she had been?
Here, you must be freezing… don’t worry though, it’ll warm up a bit in a chime or two, ummm… I suppose it’ll happen even quicker with two of us in here.” She wasn’t entirely sure what she was saying, her tongue seemingly taking on a life of its own as it babbled. She managed to stop herself though and took a deep breath, and then another, before she tried again “Sorry, I’m not used to… well having naked girls show up in my tent. The letch would probably praise the Gods as loudly as he could though.” She giggled softly to herself, some of the tension leeching out of her as she did. It wasn’t that funny a joke, but she’d certainly needed it. “Oh! And it’s alright!” She started up again suddenly, remembering Kaito’s words about scaring her and her own actions when she’d changed, “I’m sorry if I worried you, it’s just that I’ve never met a Kelvic either, I mean as well as the whole naked girl appearing in my tent thing.” she couldn’t help but smile as a little giggle slipped past her lips. This was all just a little too surreal for her to process at that moment.

Gods is it cold up here! (Kaito)

Kaito stared at the girl as she watched the shock and disbelief flow over her features, before being replaced by embarrassment. The girl then pulled off her coat and offered it to the young Kelvic. Blue orbs studied the coat for a moment, before she took it and pulled it over her small frame. She was already missing her fur, but was glad that this human at least had enough knowledge to understand that it was normal for Kelvic to switch between animal and human form. Then the girl went on to mention something about her lack of clothing, it was quite humorous to her, but she understood it...mostly. Something about modesty, she recalled one of the Avanthal citizens explaining. She heard the word letch, now this was a word she wasn't familiar with in the common language. She would have to ask about that, she would also have to ask about this man who kept mentioning mittens, because to the young Kelvic, the concept was taboo. You just didn't kill things for their coat, you killed them for their meat and she did not know of any humans who ate fox. Perhaps it was a southern thing? She could smell the warmer climate on the humans while she was in her fox form and she was more than curious about where they were from. This girl continued on to mention her current clothed state once more and then giggled, almost not seeming to believe what was happening.

The Kelvic joined the girl in her giggling, granted she was laughing at the girl's confusion. "Thank you." she began gesturing to the coat. "If you've never met a Kelvic, I guess it would be a shock." she continued still laughing. "I guess I should explain." Kaito finally grasped control of her laughter, but could still not wipe the grin from her face. And though she didn't know the common language perfectly, she knew enough words to communicate, which is why she avoided words such as suppose. "When we change forms, our clothes..." she paused for a moment, before finishing off in Vani as she had no clue how to say it in common, "disappear. Sorry, I don't know how to say it in common." She finished sheepishly. "Oh! What's a...letch?" the word felt weird on her tongue and she wasn't even sure if she had said it correctly. Before the girl could reply, she realized that she was much more interested in the location from which they hailed. "Where ya from? You smell different from Vantha." Her eyes seemed to shimmered with curiosity as she placed her hands on the ground in front of her in a similar position to what she would have been in if she were sitting in her fox form. If she'd had a tail at that moment, it likely would have been wagging.
