While Sylira is by far the most civilized region of Mizahar, countless surprises and encounters await the traveler in its rural wilderness. Called the Wildlands, Syliran's wilderness is comprised of gradual rolling hills in the south that become deep wilderness in the north. Ruins abound throughout the wildlands, and only the well-marked roads are safe.

Spring, 2th 506AV

Night. The time when honest citizens go to sleep, and all the criminals, bandits, and cut-purses go out from hiding. It's also the time, when you can do something stupid, and get away with it. Like, steal from a closing stand. Or, maybe find yourself in bed with someone, and decide you had enough alcohol to go on and don't feel sorry about it till the morning. Yes, the night was beautiful. It graced everyone with the smooth cover of darkness, in the hopes of not being spotted. And the moon, and stars, which shinned on the bright sky, illuminated the way you had to walk, and finally arrive at your goal.

Not that far from Ravok, there was a man walking. A man barely seen, due to the garment he wore. All he had on, though, was farmer's garment. That, and a black rug he tied over his mouth to stay hidden. However, his face, even though not visible, was covered with black and blue bruises. Together with his arms and legs. His chest was covered with them as well, but luckily it was hidden under the clothing he wore. All in all, he looked like a farmer boy, not even eighteen yet.

But, besides him, there was another person. The person's right arm was around the boy's shoulder, and the boy was seen crouched down, and dragging the other person on the ground. Now, might the person be too drunk too walk, or maybe passed out, wasn't seen right on the spot, but, the person did have a knife sticking out of his back. Who knew. Maybe the boy wanted to help the man.

Maybe. But the two were headed for a lake outside Ravok. Silently. In the hug of night.

[Flashback]Nobody saw that, right? [Reaver]

Postby Reaver on November 6th, 2011, 7:42 am

Darkness, it didn't even need to be night. Anywhere dark could be right where Reaver needed. There were many people in the world who simply can't trust those that are 'in control,' official or not. It was the darkness that drew these people out, like the shadows would keep them out of that control. Sure, some could do it, but he came across many who simply fell to some other control. Few can exist on their own, and fewer still can remain sane while doing so. All the same, he found himself out in the darkness like so many others.

Was he perhaps hiding from control? No, he simply sought out those who feared or hid away from the light. They had a much higher chance of accepting his offers... offers of aid and advice, strangely. Why turn him down? Was it his oddly blue and incomplete set of scale-armor? Perhaps the strange white mask or cyan wig he wore? Could it be his brilliant blue cape? Sadly, none of these. The truth was accepted far less then even these strange things. Those who accepted him either had no choice, or felt there was no better way. He had few friends, only those he'd met as children and grew up near his presence. Even then, they tended to keep a distance from him.

Tonight, was a night of study, rather then his usual practice of medicine. His patrol the town of Ravok was put off tonight, and had reason to be away from the city he called home. Reaver had other secrets, beyond that truth. Tonight, was a night to practice those secrets. He sat in the forest, having 'constructed' a spell circle from digging it into the dirt. He questioned what to animate today, he hadn't prepared that before hand. He stood, and walked away from his circle, it would sit there as long as needed.

As he left, he thought he heard some dragging in the distance. He decided to check on it, most animals would flee his presence, and this close to the city there were few bold enough to change that. Perhaps whatever it was dragging would be a fine target for his training tonight. He saw a pair of people in the distance, one slung over the other. Few people venture this far from town, he decided to approach. The darkness was a fine cover, he couldn't see them well at all. One of them didn't even look like a citizen of Ravok, the other could follow that trend as well. One of them clearly lacked the ability to move, that was easy to gather in this light... could be dead, he supposed.

He stepped forward, not trying to hide his presence. If the other was dead, a stealthy approach would do more harm then good. "My apologies, I couldn't help but notice the other not moving, and you having trouble yourself. I happen to be rather knowledgeable in medicine, is there something I can help with?" He lied about him looking like he had trouble, but he wanted the man to have every opportunity to explain himself in a positive light. No need to make him more nervous, it wouldn't be hard to think Reaver a bandit himself... and that would be even better then them knowing the truth.

The man huffed silently, trying not to arouse any more suspicion as of yet. His assault on this man on his shoulders, Mark, in broad daylight, in a tavern none the less, was risky as of yet. One wrong move, and he would be jailed, or even worse. Luckily, though, he made it out safely, and now there just remained one thing. To dispose of this body before anyone sees what he really did. Mark's back was already soaked in blood, and the young murderer didn't notice if there was a blood trail leading to him. He hoped not, though. Because it would be dangerous to return to the city. He probably shouldn't return. But walking around alone...In the Wildlands, was not that good of an idea. Specially if all you have is a bloody knife. It's covered with bandits...Or worse. He should be cautions. Or, even better. He should be unseen.

He thought he heard someone. Maybe it was just his paranoia, that played tricks on the already nervous young man. Or maybe it was a wild animal? But he was too close to the city to encounter any bigger game. Maybe a wolf? They could smell the taste of blood from the corpse. Or even worse... Maybe it was a guard? One of Mark's lackies? He hoped not.

But then he heard a step, and a voice which accompanied it! That wasn't good. The boy stopped his advance, and turned his head to his shoulder, before shifting his body a bit to the side as well, so he would get a clear view of the man. He couldn't see well in the dark, but...Was he wearing blue? Some sort of..Noble? And, was his mind playing tricks on him, or did he see something metalic on him? So many questions ran trough his head. Yet, the other man's voice was surprisingly calm. Maybe even too calm. But no matter how he would speak at that moment, the boy thought of everything in suspicion. He killed a person, and was now dragging him around.

"I...Ehm..." He started, but quite quickly found no way to explain himself. He was digging trough his mind for possible responses, but all in vain. He stayed quiet for a moment, but tried to give away an expression of being cold, and emotionless. Even though it didn't really work. At least he thought it didn't. He was too nervous for that.

"M..mm...Yeah. My uncle. He doesn't...Feel too good." He said, blatantly lying, even though it would be hard to miss the knife in the man's back. And the boy realized that. There was simply no way he could get away with that excuse.

So he coughed.

"Bah, who am I kidding." The beat up face of the boy replied. He just remembered what happened. And his body was still hurting. Dragging this body around certainly didn't help.

"I think I have everything in control, thank you. And, I don't think any medicine would help." He said, a bit ironically.

[Flashback]Nobody saw that, right? [Reaver]

Reaver continued his approach forward, he was curious to see what was going on. The one standing was rather young, he could tell now... and the older one wasn't even breathing. He said it was his uncle... though he doubted they were related. A weapon of some sort was sticking from his back, Reaver assumed a knife from the lack of protrusion in his front side. He withdrew his lie, though didn't state the truth. Well, Reaver was right. At this distance, he could see just how heavy that weight was, and that he was clearly having trouble beyond that.

"Ah, I didn't mean for him. You are injured yourself, are you not? Besides, I could always take that burden from you here." He gestured to the body as he spoke, could the other even see that in this dark? Though he lied earlier, it payed off well. This lie was much easier, how could he even tell? "No need to be so nervous, I could even share my poor accommodations if needed. Depending on how badly you are injured, your uncle might be payment enough. If trust is an issue, I do love answering questions. Ask, and I'll ask in return." He stress the word uncle, he wanted it to sound natural... however he did talk in monotone. Such a thing was far from natural.

His approach was now close enough for him to see. Bruises on his face, mostly covered up. Well, it looked to be a simple street fight gone too far. It appeared the other combatant was far better at it, too bad for him. Opportunity came at the strangest time, perhaps he could even gather a repeat customer. Though, there was a chance he could simply find more customers with him around as well.

OOCA very strange conversation now. XD He also never stated he'd answer.

Ignasius felt quite weird. Not only because of the corpse in his hand, but from the way this man acted. He felt like this stranger doesn't even care of the dead man on his shoulder. He didn't like that. He felt watched. He felt strange near this funny man. But, who was he to decide if he can get help, or not. The corpse wasn't getting any lighter, and he was quite tired. He didn't trust the man. No. But, yet, he didn't have anything else to chose from. If the man would attack him, he couldn't defend himself. And if he'd walk away, this stranger could simply follow him, or tell the guards around. It was obviously a win-lose situation for him. He had bad cards. So why not playing safe and at least act like he'd trust this..strange person?

"This is an old friend of mine...We got in a bit of ...how do you call it... Ah, yes. Bad terms."

The boy replied. He didn't really felt nervous any more, but confused.

"How much do you want?" He then asked. Any of those offers of shelter and help never came for free. There had to be a catch. And he wasn't planning of walking straight into it.

"And if you want him...Go ahead and take him." He said, inching his shoulder to the side, and letting the dead body slide down, and come crashing down the ground with a thud. he finally felt free again, as the weight vanished from his frame. Now that felt good.

"But I'm watching you..." He simply replied, bending over to draw the knife from the man's back.

Well now this young gentlemen had began to talk proper. Still nervous, but that was to be expected. He sounded like a veteran in such situations. Perhaps, it was not a simple street fight? He could be one of the many bandits out here, but all the same his offer still stood. Why, if he could aid bandits, their money was still good. Perhaps that would be a good source of income? Did the bandits have a network, or was this mostly a person-to-person deal?

"I suppose it's a natural enough question. I want to find out just how injured you are, for starters. The body there I'll take for nothing, I actually have no trouble dealing with those. The guard would simply look me over, only the new ones bother to ask." He probably shouldn't have said that. All the same, maybe he could use it. "I don't kill myself, but I deal with enough death to make sure such a thing is never a problem. Once I have an idea of your injuries, I'll have no trouble figuring out how expensive it will be to fix you up. You managed to walk here dragging a body, so it can't be that expensive. If it's all cuts scrapes and bruises, maybe just a few silver to pay for time and forcing you to take a bath."

Would his offer take? He didn't like that 'body' option one bit. Maybe adding a charge would alleviate his suspicion a touch. "I do try and keep business. If you find yourself injured often, I'd love to have a repeat customer among my patients. Seeing to your companions could also be a benefit, though I do hope some of them breathe. Breathing customers pay, after all." A mixed comment, he probably should have left that one out as well.

The man looked over the in blue chainmail cladded stranger. Was he just shamelessly advertising his services to a murderer who killed someone half his age up? He couldn't help but form a grin, chuckling along the way. That was the single most amazingly disturbing thing he had ever experienced.

"Oh...Really?" He asked, shaking his head lightly. "Fine, take it. And I hope you know I will only give out 20 silvers. Nothing more. I' broke as I am."

Ignasius then hid his smile. 'Companions'? He had no friends. The only one he knew was lying dead on the ground. Whom could he even call? He knew no one. A shame, actually.

[Flashback]Nobody saw that, right? [Reaver]

Postby Reaver on November 7th, 2011, 8:59 pm

Reaver walked up then, he had gotten a somewhat direct yes to his offer. "Well, I'd only imagine two or three, twenty should cover rather drastic damage. That's two or three to tell you how to do it yourself, mostly. I'm here to make sure you can heal on your own." He got there, bruises on his face. He walked around him once, even if the lad turned to face him the entire time. "Hard to tell visually, though randomly touching you usually warrants a warning. I need to check for serious injuries, please hold still and complain as needed."

He would stand somewhat close, clearly within arm reach, and reach out his arm. His touch was as cold as death, the leather along the inside of his hand making it hard to tell if he could even feel the skin underneath. He'd start with the face, lightly touching the various bruises, and gauging his reaction. His white mask hiding all but his eyes, which held no visible emotion. He'd continue with a somewhat stronger grab, pushing his cheeks somewhat together. After that, he went to holding the top of his head lightly. He moved to turn his head left and right. He tallied the damage in his head. Nothing broken, but it came close. His youth has done him well. "New to Ravok, by chance? You seam... out of place." A distraction, maybe? He would continue along to the chest next, using similar tactics, and then the back if able.

OOCLeaving off there in case something went wrong, and to contribute a conversation in there.

The kid never liked to be touched by strangers. Specially in the middle of the night, with the said stranger abusing his already beat up face. He felt like a toy at that moment, because of the way he was checking for wounds, was just too unprofessional. At least, he felt it was. Because he never had to deal with any healers, or doctors, or druids, or anything, so he didn't know a check actually looked like. And now he felt it. And it was unpleasant. He already wanted to move away, or push the stranger to the side, but he forced himself to stand still, writhing slightly in pain as his right side of the face had pressure added to it. "Hmrph."

"Fine." He added, trying to hold the aching feeling on his face at bay. "And yes...I'm new. Just arrived yesterday. Thanks to some...Unpleasant acquaintances. And you would be?"

He'd let the man pat him around, but always keeping his eye contact with the stranger. He felt unpleasant, yes. But what could he do?

He started on the chest, checking the ribs. If those were still in place, the internal organs would be fine. He spoke as he did so, some humor in his voice. "Ah, an accident around the action of an acquaintance. Are you leaving here, then? Or might you stick around a touch longer?" The man was bruised along his entire side? He must have taken quite a beating. His interest on the others continued stay was only on the idea of repeat business, but even if it was no, he'd still do his job.

The man had quite a lot of internal bleeding, it looked like he got caught under a mob of some sort. "I will recommend you drink lots of water, it will help you heal much faster. If you'd like, I could help drain the built up blood, as well." Acupuncture, a medical art he hadn't practiced. He was far from a professional at it, but draining blood should be a cakewalk after all his sewing. The shoulders and arms were next, he wondered if he shielded himself with those, they might be broken. He carried the heavier man, however... so he'd just wait and see.
