Fall 9, 511 AV Aello sat, surrounded by a ring of trees, whose branches stretched upwards, toward the sky. Their spindly, gnarled, dark brown limbs twisted and turned around each other. The thinnest of them all, swayed lightly in the breeze that swept through them, rustled their leaves, which were just beginning to change colors. From a crisp green to a deep red, which would soon become a fiery orange, or then a yellow, before they fell and shifted into a curled up, brittle, brown mass, which crunched beneath one's step. The girl was not at all in the mood to hunt anymore, now that the sun had risen to its zenith, and could do little more than warm her back. Cause her to grow far too hot for her liking as she ran through the forest grounds, in pursuit of something worth killing, and bringing back into the city for a shiny gold miza or two. Most of Aello's things rested in a pile to her side. The exceptions were the few garments she wore, her dagger, which lay in its usual hiding place, and her waterskin, which rested in her lap. Yune was chirping merrily on the forest floor just in front of her. Seemingly calling out for one treatment or another- a bath, some food, water even. "Alright, alright, hold your horses," Aello giggled, as she opened her waterskin, and drizzled a thin stream of water atop her companion. The sparrow shook her body nearly dry as Aello put the cap back on her waterskin. "No no silly!" Aello cried. "We have yet to work the water through your wings," she added, as she placed her hands atop her bird, and eased her thumb and index finger over the length of Yune's wing fingers. Allowing the moisture that clung to each of them to settle against her flesh before she gently flicked it away, along with any dirt or grime she managed to pick up. Yune kept on chirping merrily. "Almost done with these," Aello muttered, as she continued the process of cleaning her pet's wings to the best of her ability. When she had finally rid them of moisture, and any visible signs of dirt, Aello pulled her hands away and picked up her waterskin. She lifted the cap, and trickled some more onto the bird's back, and as she delicately lifted Yune's right leg, she trickled more on that. She then repeated the process with the left leg. When she had finished, she put the cap back on, and lifted her bird. She pet the creature's back, freeing it of some moisture, before she gently lifted the folds of her dress, and rubbed it gently against Yune. Using it as a towel to help her dry off faster. Yune kept on chirping. Hopefully, she didn't mind it. After a few minutes, Aello stopped, and Yune flew onto her shoulder. She shook herself out, releasing a few droplets of water onto Aello's flesh, as she puffed herself up. Causing her to look like a ball of fluff with a beak. Aello giggled. "Alright then, why don't we give you a little something to eat, before we make my own dinner?" Aello asked, as she reached into her pocket, and pulled out a single black seed. She held it between her thumb and ring finger, and offered it to her pet. Yune took it hungrily. "Alright Yune, we best find some firewood," Aello commented, as she gathered all of her things, so that no animal could get to them, and went about her way. OOCSorry the opening is a little weird. Aello really needs some bird-keeping exp. Also, the rest of the clearing consists of grass, if you decide you want to find her there. |
