[Garden of No Return] A Rat's Maze (Amarhyl)

Early Morning Winter 23rd 511 AV
A leaf crunched under Desdemonia's foot as she looked up at the huge hedge in front of her. She'd been told by a laughing little girl that his maze was the best place to gather any sort of herb or plant that she needed, and she was running low on some key plants. "Don't worry" the girl had said with a smile"It's easy to find your way around, just remember which way you go". And with that and a couple of directions, Desdemonia had made her way to the Garden of No Return.

According to a worker of some sort standing outside the maze, there were 5 entrances to the maze, and there were fountains and trees and plants scattered all inside it. With a light heart and a smile, she walked in.

Hours later, she still hadn't come out. After the first few turns, Desdemonia had come across a wonderful little flower, which she had promptly picked. She turned around to go back the way she had came, and, to her shock and amazement, there was a dead end. I must have gotten turned around Desdemonia thought nervously I'll just go this way. If I keep to the right, I'll get out eventually.

But she didn't. It seemed the entire maze was build for no other reason than to confuse her. Every turn she took became a dead end. Eventually, she found herself(somehow) stuck inside a long hallway of sorts with no way out.

Frustrated and tired, Desdemonia shouted "Hey! Anyone know the way out?"

[Garden of No Return] A Rat's Maze (Amarhyl)

Postby Amarhyl on December 3rd, 2011, 6:20 pm

Amarhyl had come across the maze quite unexpectedly. She had taken the advice of Almech quite to heart, letting the city guide her to her destinations. She had been after some shops, or maybe the library, but it seemed the shifting city had other ideas. Not that she minded of course, a maze could be fun. She stood outside the entrance for a moment, deliberating whether or not she really wanted to go in. The hedge walls were high, very high indeed. No other people were around, so with a shrug she stepped through and into the maze.

If someone had come along to tell her the true nature of the maze, the young woman would most likely have turned round and headed elsewhere. However, that was not the case, so she let herself get caught up in the adventure. Right near the entrance she spotted a pretty, bright orange flower. She moved over to investigate and, being so engrossed in the find, didn’t notice the entrance shift behind her. Examination of the plant over, she shifted her bag further onto her shoulder and moved deeper into the maze.

After perhaps a couple of bells, Amarhyl was deep in the maze, and although she didn’t realize it, very lost. She took a left turn, paused for a moment, and then decided that going right may be a better thing to do. However, there was no right turn. Where a path had been just moments before stood a huge wall of leafy hedge. Only now did it dawn on her what she had gotten herself into. The maze shifts like the city! She gaped at the hedge for a moment, trying to erase the panic from her mind. It was then that she heard a shout from nearby.

Cautiously, Amarhyl turned again and continued down the left turn she had originally taken. The voice had sounded from the other side of the hedge to her right. Therefore, a right turn should lead her to it. Mercifully, the maze let her turn, and she quickly found the source of the shout. The woman she found was vaguely similar to a girl she had met in Syliras before. The hint of shimmering scales was enough to confirm that the person before her was a Konti, the same as her old friend. When the stranger had noticed her, Amarhyl spoke up.
”I heard you shouting. Are you lost too? Maybe we can look for the exit together?”
