Robbing the Dead in the Dead of Night

Postby Corpus Aeternum on December 9th, 2011, 12:40 am

OOC :: This is how Corpus got his current body.

Time Stamp :: 25th of Spring 511AV

Rip.

Tear.

Thud.

Sigh.

Rinse and repeat as needed.

Corpus grumbled as he picked up his left arm out of the hole he was digging once again, this was the fourth time tonight the bloody arm decided to detach itself! He needed to find a new fresh body and soon, the gods only know how much longer this one was going to last.

Sitting his bony arse down on the edge he reached into his robe’s pocket and pulled out his handy-dandy needle and thread. As a Nuit Corpus learned that the womanly skill of needlework, aka sewing, was something highly useful. It helped with keeping body parts together, as long as one wasn’t digging large holes six feet by three feet and dropping themselves into the resulting six-foot or deeper hole to retrieve some dirty coffin for some poor fool’s body!

Working by moonlight and the constant sudden loss of movement in his only useable hand made sewing a task indeed, but it was done, finally! Sure it took a lot of hissing and groaning in minute pain, but it was handled all right.

Flexing his newly attached arm some Corpus replaced the needle and thread back in his pocket and dropped back down in his hole, the coffin sat right there, just below his feet. All he would need was a few more shovelful of sod and the coffin’s lovely top would be his for the removing. Oh he could just smell the embalmed body now!

Thrust.

Scoop.

Lift.

Throw over shoulder.

Repeat a few more times as is needed. And voila! Corpus is now standing on the coffin lid of a deceased individual. Oh joyous eve!

Tossing his shovel out of the hole the Nuit heaved his decaying body from the grave and grabbed a hold of his trusty crowbar, hammer, and coil of rope -- his partners in crime if you will. And with that he jumped back down into the hole, shoving the flat edge into the seam between coffin’s foot end and the ground below. With a few whacks with the hammer -- spaced out as the Nuit paused to listen for any passersby that may have heard – the bar was wedge sufficiently into the seam for leverage to pry the coffin upwards. So the opposing force – in this case Corpus – applied as much pressure as he could to the bar, lifting the coffin’s end upward towards the sky and using his left foot sliding the hammer’s head under the center of the coffin’s edge. With the hammer in place Corpus lowered the coffin back down and took a seat on the coffin’s lid.

Fashioning a loop and slipknot about ten feet from the end of his rope Corpus slide the loop around the foot of the coffin, removing his hammer and holding up the end with his hand just long enough to slide the loop’s edge underneath. Once the loop was in position
Corpus paused and looked up towards the sky, seeing the moon was a pleasant sight. He still had several hours to finish his task. Taking up his hammer and crowbar again Corpus started the tedious task of rising up the middle right side of the casket. Once raised up Corpus shoved the remaining length of his rope coil, save the first ten feet that rested at the foot of the box, and lowered the casket. Wiping his brow of sweat Corpus let out a sigh of relief and proceeded on raising up the middle of the left side of the casket. Using the hammer to prop up the left side Corpus pulled out his entire coil of rope and tossed it back to the right of the coffin.

Using just his crowbar this time Corpus lifted the right middle again and dragged the rope back underneath. Once on the left hand side again Corpus dropped the right side once more and pulled the coil of rope to the middle of the coffin and looped it tightly around the middle looping and tossed the coil to the head of the casket. Once the rope was positioned at the head Corpus pulled out first his hammer and then his crowbar, resting the coffin once more on the churned dirt underneath it.

Now it was time to rest, Corpus was getting exhausted and this damn body just wasn’t up to the whole grave digging and robbing business as he was hoping it would’ve been.

This is tiresome, I really need someone to do this for me. Corpus touched at the stitching on his arm and winced, he was going to have to stop a little long than he wanted to so he could tighten that specific set of stitching.

With only a quarter of the night left Corpus had to make haste in his final loop at the top of the casket. He lifted the casket up and pushed a loop of rope just a few feet from where he finished off the middle loops and lowered the casket once more.

The hard part was finished, lifting and dropping the bloody casket a dozen times or so that is. With a sigh of relief Corpus pulled the remaining length of his rope across the top and slipknot tied it to the original ten-foot section he left unused at the foot of the coffin and pulled it tight.

With the coffin all nicely tied together so that it resembled a roast getting ready for the oven Corpus tossed up the remaining twenty feet of rope and his partners in crimes before heaving himself out of the hole.

“Finally!” He spoke out loud, the first actually word he said all night. Stowing away his hammer and bar away he started pulling up the coffin. This part took nearly an hour to handle, but once it was out of the hole, all nice and secure, Corpus pulled it onto his sled and secured it in place before he pulled it all back to his small hovel of a home.

And that was the easy part.

Robbing the Dead in the Dead of Night

Postby Corpus Aeternum on December 9th, 2011, 10:23 pm

The flight home with a coffin containing a dead man in tow took longer than he had wanted it to, blasted streets moving! Corpus growled at the idea, but he managed to make it home without getting caught.

Once through the front door Corpus set himself on his bed and let out a sigh of relief, the ache that should've been felt in his bones and muscles was not there, not a good sign as he knew he had to get the job done before he lost all functionality.

"Back to work." Corpus shuffled himself around the casket, removing the coil of rope and tossing it on his bed, he will handle that when he could. Right now though, more important things needed to be handled. Like the body and preparations. Using his crowbar Corpus pried open the lid and set to the task of getting the body ready.

It was a beautiful body too: tall, pale, albino... Beautiful structure. With an almost loving gaze and delayed reaction Corpus caressed the cheek of his new body before prying the mouth wide open and setting to the task of marking the deceased with the runes required. With no ink to use Corpus carved the runes where they were needed.

Once that was finished Corpus muttered the ritual as he stripped his robe from his body, his left arm's final stitching removing themselves completely. There was no pain. The end of this body was near. Crawling himself over the body Corpus open his mouth wide. His body convulsed as an oddly grotesque groan came from within and a thick black ooze drooled out of his open mouth, dripping ever so slowly into the body below.

Yes, it is time... As Corpus's drooling ichor became thicker and harder to push out of his body Corpus used the last of his strength in his body to retch the black ichor up.

It was right after the last of the undead's life essense forced it's way into the new body did the white wisp of the ancient creature's life push it's way into every possible opening it could. The one-armed body dropped into the casket, which would become it's final resting place the next nightfall.

Robbing the Dead in the Dead of Night

Postby Corpus Aeternum on December 22nd, 2011, 10:29 pm

OOC :: Sorry this took so long to finish. >.< Been uber busy RLly
Time Stamp :: 31st of Spring 511AV

Corpus groaned as he finally was able to push his way out of the coffin. It took him a lot longer than he thought he would to gain full control of his new body. The old body was starting to really stink, like sickly stink. Surprisingly enough though, no one seemed to notice the smell, maybe the city kept his home away from prying noses... Who knows really, eh?

After getting himself clothed in his usual bland garbs, removing his uncle’s black ring from the old body and placing it back on his current body, Corpus unceremoniously tossed the rotting shell of a corpse into the empty casket and then resealed it. By nightfall he will be ready to send the body back to its new resting place, or at least drop it off casually into a nearest ravine. Which ever worked best for him.

Once Corpus was groomed and prepped for the evening’s agenda Corpus set out to handle it before he indeed got caught, wouldn’t have done him any good really to get caught. [i]Time to go.[i] He nodded to himself as he strapped the casket to his sled and pushed open the door to his house. With a hard push from behind his sled and cargo slid neatly to the street where he could safely get it moving with no issues.

To Corpus’s luck, it was a lot faster for him to dump the body into a ravine, so that’s what he did. After untying the casket from his sled the Nuit gave the casket a fond thud on it’s lid and pushed it right over the ravine. Waiting for the crashing thud of splintering wood before he left home.

A large step in his life was completed, it was a nuisance of a step. But a step he needed in order to survive. Now it was on to his life goal.

Did you want something?

Corpus Aeternum:
XP Award: Sewing +1; Carving +1
Lores: Robbing a Grave; Body Jumping

Additional Notes: I haven’t read a transfer thread before, so this was an eye opener. I thought you adhered well to the race, and also to the ritual of jumping between corpses. You’ve clearly read the lore, and have a solid understanding of a race that doesn’t appeal to most players. Good job.
Notice: thread tickets are sold out.
