A Sisterly Outing (Nica)

As Nica went in to get the food, Sera stood, leaning against the building and watching the people pass by. She waved to them, smiled at some, even sparked some conversations. Some of the people were from different races, but most were Vantha. She loved her people and their beautiful ways of living. When Nica returned with the bag of food, Sera smirked. Her sister was curious. Sera looked down for a second and then followed. Once she sat next to her sister, she let out a sigh.

"Alright, you're going to think I'm crazy." She said, and grabbed a biscuit from the bag. She turned to her sister. "I want to leave this place, this town." A chuckle escaped from her lips and she took a bite of the biscuit.

"I know, it's safe and calm here. And I know my family is here, and well... You know don't you?" She set the biscuit down in her lap and then looked back at her sister. "Alright, I better explain, so just, stay quiet for a bit okay... I really don't want you to get upset, I've tried talking to father and he wouldn't hear of it." She wrinkled her nose as her eyes faded to a shade of gray. "I'm assuming you've probably figured it out already, but... Just bare with me." She took a deep breath, and then began...

"When we were young I always felt out of place. I wanted to explore. I wanted to do something with my life outside of this city. And just so you know, this is not because I'm spiteful towards you or mother and father, please understand that." She took a breath. "I just want to do something. I've been stuck here for fifteen years and every day the urge to just run and explore gets worse and worse. It's like I'm being pulled somewhere else, but I don't even know where that place it." Sera looked away from her sister. "And in all reality, I really want to find love. I don't want to be married here, unless I love someone and I'm scared. I'm truly scared." She bit her lip suddenly, realizing she was yelling at that some people passing by were staring at her. "Nica... Don't think poorly of me..." She begged as she looked back at her sister, her eyes at this point, as white as the snow around them.

A Sisterly Outing (Nica)

Postby Nica on December 15th, 2011, 5:05 am

Nica stared into Sera's eyes. Lost in her own thoughts.

Nica had a feeling that things would have come down to this. She knew her sister was different. Nica felt it in her soul well. Her parents had talked about her about getting married soon. Nica didn't want that. She didn't want to be tied down when there are so much stuff to be discovered and learned in the world. She had hoped to get permission to go and find her true self. Nica, as a young child, was very curious about everything. Nica had asked before to explore the world but she was too young, being only 7, her parents wouldn't allow it.

Her parents reminded Nica of being the older sister. The thoughts of traveling the unknown temporary made her forget her young beautiful-spirited sister. It had dawned on her that she couldn't leave.

Nica loves Sera more than herself. She would never leave her, unless it was Sera's decision to leave Nica.

The only thing she was worried about is Sera's safety. If Nica had left, who would be there for Sera when mom and dad couldn't? Sure, Sera had many friends but it's not the same.

Nica was worried about her own safety as well. She would probably be driven slowly mad if she never saw her sister again. Ever since, Nica had dreamed about traveling the magical and beautiful lands with Sera. But now, having Sera wanting to leave, Nica is at a loss. 'What if she doesn't want me to go with her? What if I would be a burden to her quest? What if....what if...' There were so many rushing thoughts in Nica's head that she didn't hear what Sera had said. Nica suddenly realized that she was crying, the tears were making her face freeze.

Nica quickly wiped her ice cold tears and whispered. "I'm sorry." She stood up. Nica didn't want her sister to see her crying. Nica couldn't tell her what her true thoughts were at the moment. She was happy, scared, and guilty. She was happy that Sera wanted to travel as well, but scared that Sera might want to go alone. Guilty because she never told Sera about her dreams that seemed to be the same as Sera's. That was the only thing that Nica never told her about. Nica thought it would be a silly dream and hopefully with time, it would pass over...but it didn't.

Nica didn't know what to do. So, she did the first thing that came to her. Run.
She hoped her sister won't be mad at her for running away. Nica just need to have a moment to collect herself and her thoughts.

"I...I need to be alone for a while. I will be back soon. I will meet you at home." Nica turned and ran off.

Nica headed to her favorite spot to think. A spot in the nearby forest. Out of breathe, she sat down at one of the big sitting rocks.

She sighed and hit her forehead. "Why did I run away? That was so childish. Why couldn't I just sit and talk it out?" Nica let out a frustrated squeal. Winter birds flew away at the sudden sound. Nica watched the birds fly away. "Sorry..." Nica apologized to them. She watched them fly until they couldn't not be seen anymore.

Nica shifted on her rock and stared at her shoes. She saw them caked with snow and dirt.

Nica thought what to say to Sera. Then a thought came to her. "Maybe if me and Sera go together, mama and papa will let us go?" Nica smiled. Then her smiled faded. "But what if Sera wants to go alone." This thought had came before. "Sera is an independent kind of person while I am the dependent type. If I go, I will just add weight and slow her down. I could never to do that her." Nica sighed once again. "What to do, what to do..." Nica murmured.

After a few more moments of thinking, Nica took a deep breath and stood up. "That's enough thinking. I need to talk to Sera and things will come together. We will figure things out." Nica turned to head back home. When she took a few steps, she paused. "I just hope that everything will turn out okay. I have a feeling that things will not be the same again."

When she reached home, she saw her sister waiting outside. Nica rushed to her. "Sera, I am so sorry for running away like that. I-I just needed to think about a few things." Nica took a deep breathe. "There are some things I need to tell you as well. First of all, I could never think poorly of you. Second, you are not the only one who wants to leave this place. I want to experience new things that cannot be happen here. I want to find love outside these walls and learn everything I can about the world. I want to find myself. I want to learn what it is I am suppose to do in this world. I love you so much, Sera, that I couldn't bare to leave you for my own selfish greed. Which is why I never thought about leaving again."

There was heavy silence.

"Sera?"

A Sisterly Outing (Nica)

Postby Sera on December 15th, 2011, 6:19 am

Fear swept over Sera as her sister got up and left. She got to her feet as well and watched her sister run off. "Nica!" She called. She felt herself shaking and then bit her lip.

Anger. Red eyes.

Why did my sister run off? Why is she hiding? WHAT is she hiding? Sera nearly growled under her breath and looked around. Though everyone around seemed to be in a joyous mood, she was not. She hated this. "I told her a secret and she runs off?!" Sera hissed to herself. Was it that bad? She sighed and hugged herself. "Okay, Sera calm down. It's okay. It'll be okay." She tried talking to herself.

She turned on her heels as she so often did, then began to run. She ran all the way back home. Once she reached the Skyglow hold, she hit the outer wall of the building with her fists. Sera looked to her feet and sighed. "I shouldn't have said anything..." She turned around, her back against the wall and slid down, to where she was sitting before. If only I could turn back time. Then this wouldn't have happened. I don't know what she's mad at me. WHY BE MAD AT ME? She sighed again and waited.

Much time passed, enough for Sera to get anxious. But she waited nonetheless. And waited.

And waited.

When Nica returned, Sera didn't notice at first. She had enough time to think. Enough time to decide that she was leaving whether or not he rsister agreed. She was leaving. End of story. When Sera heard her name, she looked up.

"You left. Were you that much of a coward? You couldn't have a conversation with your younger sister about something she was coming to you for. I needed your advice. I look up to you. Nica, you've hurt me." She said, very softly, very musically. Sera hadn't even heard what her sister had tried to tell her. Sera's eyes were blue, deep sapphire blue. She made eye contact with her sister and bit her lip, awaiting her next move.

Just try to run again. I dare you.

A Sisterly Outing (Nica)

~Decided to change a few things~

Nica was stunned at her sister's words.

"Didn't you hear what I just said, Sera?" Tears formed in Nica's eyes.

"Didn't you hear that I said I just needed time to think about words? I know I may not be the most bravest sister in the world. Your words caught me off guard. How was suppose to react when my only sister wants to leave...leave home, leave our parents....leave me? Huh? How can you tell me like that like you were going to leave that very moment. My heart couldn't take it. I can't imagine my life without you."

Nica ignored the wetness running down her neck. Nica said softly, "I just didn't think we would have this conversation so soon. I wanted to wait until your birthday to really talk about this."

Nica sighed as she continued to stare out in space. Still waiting to hear her sister's response.

Then Nica's body start to sway. 'Huh? What is wrong with me?' She shook her head. "Woah!" She held her head still with both hands. Shaking her head just made her more dizzy. "S-sera..." Nica called softly. She felt her legs give out from under her. "S-sera...ser-ra..." Her world turned black as she collapsed on the floor.

OOCEdited, isn't that great. Sorry.

Sera looked down into her folded arms and raised an eyebrow. Sure, she was still upset but her sister, but it didn't stop her from being rude. Even though she didn't yell, that probably affected Nica worse. With red colored eyes, Sera walked away from her sister. She didn’t want to deal with her sister’s melodramatic antics. "Nica, what is with you?" She whispered, standing a few feet from her. “All I wanted was to talk to you about this.” Sera shook her head, looking at her sister sadly. “Whether or not you approve, I’m leaving. Most likely by myself.” With that she began walking away from her sister.

Silence.

Sera turned around and watched as her sister fell to the ground. Her eyes shifted to a deep purple and her heart began to beat incredibly fast.

"Nica?!"

The younger sister ran forward and slid to the white, soft, ground gracefully, lifting her sister into a sitting position. "Sweetie? Wake up! Please wake up!!" Why didn't she tell me she wasn't feeling well? Why wouldn't she wake up? What do I do? What can I do? Sera shook her sister gently. "I'm sorry!" She said softly.

"Somebody help!!" Sera screamed at the top of her lungs, hoping that somebody would be around. "PLEASE ANYBODY!!!"

A Sisterly Outing (Nica)

Postby Nica on December 31st, 2011, 3:38 am

'Where am I?'

Nica look around her surroundings. She didn't recognize anything. The land was bare with the exception of snow decorating the ground. She look down at her feet to see there was about 3 or 4 inches of snow. "Hello?" "...." Nothing. Nica's heart started to race. 'What is going on?'

Nica crouched down and hugged her knees. She closed her eyes and took several deep breaths. After a long moment, she opened her eyes. She gasped. Everything was different now. The snow was replaced by ice. She stood up and look around. She gently slapped her cheeks.

Nica decided to walk to see what she would come across. She walked for a while. She had to go slowly on the ice, keeping her guard up. She came across of a edge of a forest. She reached out her hand and touched the tree bark to see if it was real. It was. She could feel the roughness and coldness of it. She sighed and closed her eyes. When she opened them, everything changed again.

She frowned. 'Why does it keep changing?' The land was now surround by snow-covered hills of snow. She narrowed her eyes to see if she could see anything in the distance over the hills. Nothing. She decided to walk on top of the biggest one. She looked all around. Still nothing. She was about to give up when she froze. She slowly turned her head to her right.

There in the distance was a figure all in white. It was hard to notice with all the snow. Nica was now scared. She wondered if it was there watching her the whole time. She shivered. She stared at the figure.

Nica gasped when she saw figure take off the hood of it's cloak. It was a beautiful white woman. Nica's eyes widen as she stopped breathing. Nica saw the woman reach out her hand. The woman's lips were moving but Nica couldn't figure out what she was saying. Nica was slowly leaning forward, trying to see if she could hear. She soon lost her footing and started to fall forwards.

~

Nica's body shook with her gasp and opened her eyes. She took deep breaths and closed her eyes.

Nica didn't know what to do. Her heart was still racing. 'What did that dream mean?' She wondered.

A Sisterly Outing (Nica)

Postby Sera on December 31st, 2011, 4:06 am

Sera had been so worried. She had moved her sister to her room and had wrapped her up in a couple blankets. All she could think of to help her sister, she did. This included placing a wet rag on Nica's forehead and leaving a glass of water by her bed. Every minute felt like an hour, and Sera couldn't find their parents anywhere. It was such a horrible experience. Sera kept trying to think of all she could to help someone that had fainted. Luckily she knew a bit about helping people when ill, but didn't know anything specific, she just knew to wait. Though, Sera knew inside, something was deeply wrong with her sister. It couldn't be just the food thing. Then Nica moved. Sera rushed to the side of her bed, sliding onto her knees. "Nica?!" She cried and threw her arms around her sister before she got up. "I've been so worried! What happened?! Was it my fault? I am soooooo sorry!" She cried loudly in Vani, almost making it sound like a song. "What can I do for you? What do you need?"

Sera blamed herself. She started the whole conversation after all. And she felt horrible. The girl's eyes were so sorrowful, a deep oceanic blue. Tears were building up in her eyes. Worry was evident on her lips, as they parted slightly. Her breathing was erratic as she starred into her sister's eyes waiting for a response. "I'm so sorry." She repeated again and again in the Vani tongue, hoping her sister could bring herself to forgive her.

~Sorry, it's really really short~

Nica was broken out of her thoughts when she felt warm puffs of air hit her face. She blinked and focused. It was Sera.

'Should I tell what I saw? Should I tell her about my strange dream? Would she believe me? I should figure it out before I tell anyone.'

"Sera. It's okay. Everything's fine." Nica whispered. She took her eyes off her sister and looked straight ahead, not really looking at anything, lost in her thoughts.

OOCThat's okay, we'll wrapping it up anyways. :D

Sera sat on the edge of the bed, holding her sister's hands and staring into her eyes. "Nica?" She whispered and reached forward to give her a hug. "I'm so sorry." She wrinkled her nose and looked around as she noticed how quiet her sister was. She seemed preoccupied with her own thoughts, probably about the argument from before. Sera kissed her sister's cheek. "Would you like me to leave you alone for a while, so you can rest?" She whispered, still worried. In all truth, she didn't want to leave but the way her sister was acting was odd, so maybe it would be best?

And eventually Sera left. She couldn't deal with her sister's distance. It was obvious that she was not welcome. "I'm sorry Nica." She said. "This was my fault. Sera left the room to talk to their parents and to try and find something worth while to do. After all, she didn't want to be near her sister for a while.

Who could blame her? Her sister shot her down when she was only trying to talk about a legit issue.

A Sisterly Outing (Nica)

Postby Nica on December 31st, 2011, 5:15 am

Nica stayed in her room alone for a long while.

Many thoughts had come across her mind but they end up not making sense.

Her parents were told about what happened to her but were always too busy working to actually really talk to her. However, Nica did notice how Sera was always watching her. Nica could feel it. She wanted to talk to her but she just didn't know what to say. 'Maybe it will be better if Sera left. I don't want any harm to come to her if she stays. Maybe it was a sign.'

Images of the woman flood her mind. 'Who is she? What does she want from me?'

Nica suddenly grabbed her head and messed up hair. She let out a frustrated squeal. "Ahh, don't want to think about it anymore. I should rest." Not caring what time of day it was, Nica got into her bed and tried to sleep.
