Donovan The Basic Information Basic Information Race: Nuit Birthday & Age : 292 AV (220 years old) Gender: Male Languages Fluent: Common Fluent: Symenos Physical Description Height: 6ft 2in Weight: 160lb Eye Color: Yellow Hair Color: White Although a Nuit's appearance often changes with the years, Donovan was blessed with the power of Morphing before his transformation. Originally, Donovan was a Symenestra, and his appearance betrays this. He uses his ability as a Morpher to retain his looks, a small amount of vanity he allows himself. As such, he looks just as he did 200 years ago, when he became a Nuit. Donovan’s hair is a snow white, and reaches down to his waist. His eyes are bright golden yellow, a rarity among Mizahar. Often, people mistake his yellow eyes as a sign of sickness. He does not bother to correct them. His build is long and willowy. He often wears a black cloak made of cheap wool. under the cloak he wears no shirt, and cotton black pants, tucked into a pair of leather boots. Around his arms are leather gloves that reach up to his shoulders. He wears a silver chain necklace that holds sentimental value to him, as it is the only possession he owns from his original life. Despite the fact that Donovan was born a Symenestra, he refuses to use Symenestra bodies to host his spirit. This is not due to sentimentality, but due to frailness. He knows first-hand how frail their bodies are, and enjoys taking on the bodies of much more resilient creatures. He prefers taking human bodies, and simply altering how they appear. This is much easier for him than changing the entire skeletal structure of a body to strengthen it. With humans, their bodies only require a few cosmetic changes. The Inner Core Character Concept While grand plans and ambitions often drive a Nuit, Donovan is that rare exception. He is driven by nothing but boredom. He has no great drive or desire, and is actually quite content. His goal as a Symenestra had been to gain immortality. With his successful transformation into a Nuit, that goal was fulfilled. Now he wanders aimlessly, seeking entertainment and amusement. Often this is at the cost of someone else, as Donovan holds little respect for other beings. As his own amusement is his primary drive, Donovan will not tolerate a boring person. He has found that both virtuous and selfish individuals can be entertaining, and has no problem following either one. He follows others, lending his knowledge and abilities for the chance to stave off his boredom. Occasionally he will follow a group their whole lives, if he finds their exploits interesting enough. He has made friends this way, but it is rarer than many would care to guess. And many, if not all, of his friends are long dead. Character Personality Donovan is callous and distant, impatient and judgmental. He does not like people more clever than himself. And he does not act overtly friendly with anyone. Donovan is quite judgmental and often categorizes people by their personality and the threat they pose to him. He is slow to judge. However this is simply because he wants to be sure that his evaluation of people is correct. He almost never changes his perception of people once he has categorized them. He is very willing to start a confrontation if he thinks it will speed up a desired outcome. Despite his apparent love for violence, he actually believes it is a valid option for a limited number of things. He believes that while violence can solve everything, it is the least efficient means to do so. Instead, he maintains that subtlety and manipulation are the best way to achieve one’s goals. However, he also maintains that those are not always possible. At heart, Donovan is a very distrusting and calculating individual.
