Fortunately for new roleplayers, there's a comprehensive guide on roleplaying in the Starting Guide, so you can flip through that to see how it's done! I'd also suggest flipping through some random threads, just to get an example of how other players come together. Everyone's roleplay style is a little different. A great way of finding good threads to read is by going in chat and asking for thread recommendations for reading. Usually, there's someone who's got a favorite thread they're happy to point you to.
