Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Her eyes widened, and she didn't dare move. Even though she knew- or hoped- that Rykanis would not hurt her, she still didn't want to move even slightly. Her started shuddering though, which she had to stop. It was because of for some reason, she was getting chills. Probably from not seeing his move coming. She wasn't very easy at predicting people. "Okay," she said aloud. "Firmer grip," she echoed. "Never commit to a blow unless the other cannot defend themselves..." she paused a moment. She thought about it. She wasn't really trying to make herself look cool, she just... didn't know what else to do. She didn't know any "moves".

She nodded, and listened to everything he'd said. Defense... And then when he told her about what had happened when he had once done it himself, he had something more severe to never forget. She bit her lip, and backed up a little bit. She picked up the dagger, which wasn't very far away, and then got back into the position she was once in. She gripped the dagger tightly, and then she had to think, again, about what to do. She jerked forward towards his legs- but before she touched them, she pulled back again.

She had hoped to make it look like what she had just done- gone all the way through with her movements- and so when she pulled back, she immediately made a "slash" through his stomach, and to the arm that held the arm that held his lakan, right on the inside of his elbow. Usually when she accidentally hit that on something(which wasn't often, but since she was so strange she happen to do it at least once a week), it felt numb for a second. This may be different with Rykanis, though...

A Run into the Backside[Rykanis][Flashback]

Postby Rykanis Dakshata on April 23rd, 2012, 11:34 pm

Rykanis let out another smile, as it seemed that his partner was at least learning a bit of something. He did not expect to much, since it was her first time, but at least she was trying, and not giving up.

Though he could still tell that she was new, by the way she moved with the weapon, maneuvered, even how she held it. It took time to till it became second nature, she was still just learning the basics of its form, and what the weapon expected of her.

Each weapon was different, just like a different person. You had to treat it and handle it differently. It was capable of different things... Had its own unique strength and weaknesses, and a specific task for which it was made and was best at... Maybe that was why so many akalaks practiced so many different kinds of weapons? He himself would have to learn some new ones...

He took a step back, giving Dall a moment to gather herself, before fighting once more. She moved forward, and Rykanis simply held his weapon at the ready... Out in front of him, to the side, weapon at an angle... He watched her body, trying to detect when she was going to move...

Sure enough know that he was watching, he could see the subtle signs on her, which showed that she was about to move... A sudden tensing, and changed expression, and then she was upon him. Rykanis moved his blade as she made a slash at him, intercepting her blow with his own weapon, applying force on it at least equal to her own, so as to lock them both in place.

As she made for the second swipe, he countered it to, trying to meet force on force and swinging his wooden lakan directly into the same path that Dall was swinging her dagger... The two met with a dull thud, and he smiled.

"Better... Better... Though it will be harder for you... My extra length of arms and legs makes it easier for me to stay out of your range, and forces you to get closer to get within mine. It is all a balance..."

After saying this, Rykanis would smile, as jumped forward into her range, and let off a trio of slashes at Dall, fully expecting for her to block some or all. One at the chest, another at the neck, and another at the arm... Then he would jump a step back, getting back clear of her range.

A Run into the Backside[Rykanis][Flashback]

Postby Dallisetria on April 24th, 2012, 12:44 am

She started squeaking every time he countered her attacks, and then stepped back as he stepped forward. "Holy-" he then attacked, and she could only reflex. "Eep, eep-" she hit the first two back with her own dagger- the one aimed at the chest, and the one aimed at her neck. She was felt rather scared, even if in the back of her head she knew the weapon used to attack her was fake. "Woah," she breathed, as she sharply scraped her wooden dagger against the wooden lakan, but it wasn't very strong, and despite her firm hold on the weapon, it slipped through her hand and into the air. She screeched, making a deafening noise, and since she oftentimes made things overly dramatic, she fell backwards when grabbing for her flying dagger.

Luckily- luckily, it was not skill at all- she caught it by what would have been the handle on the real weapon. She landed hard on her back, and then air left her. She took a moment to recover, which to herself didn't take long. Then again, she was disheveled, and didn't know how long anything was taking. She rolled on the floor, a few rolls actually, thinking she was rolling opposite of Rykanis. Instead, she was rolling towards him.

Whens she sat up, she was startled to see his knee in her face. All she could think was, hit! hit! hit! and so she swung at his shin, then swiftly maneuvered to where she was standing behind him, and hopefully if she jumped high enough, she would jump onto his back and hold her dagger to his neck. But as she leaped, she felt her confidence fade in an extravagant amount.

A Run into the Backside[Rykanis][Flashback]

Postby Rykanis Dakshata on April 24th, 2012, 1:06 am

Rykanis had watched, a bit caught up in the moment, caught in the excitement of the fight... He had maybe done a bit to much, considering how new she was.

Though he almsot laughed at the odd noise she kept making... He could honestly say he had never heard a warrior make that sound...

He was a bit impressed though, as she deftly blocked and intercepted his first two slashes. She seemed to be picking things up rather quickly. As he made the third attack, the weapon slipped from her grip, flying through the air once more. This time though, she made a screech, which was very animal like. Was she a kitty, or a monkey? He thought they were the ones that made screeches... Or was he thinking of a different animal... Though monkey sounded right for some reason...

But it was a short lived sound, as she sort of flopped backward onto her back, her hands scrabbling for the weapon, and finally connecting with it, just as she struck the ground.

He did not press the attack however, slowing his breathing a bit. This was not a real battle, and he was teaching her, so should go a bit easy, let her regain her footing. Though as he was about to wonder how long she would take, she suddenly rolled on the floor, right towards him.

"Hey, what are you?..."

He started. But it was ended, as she stopped right under his feet more or less. If he wanted to, he could have stepped on her, or kicked her. But he gave her a moment, and she popped up, attacking his shin with her weapon. Clearly she had some grand attack idea, which she had tried.

But she had failed to realize, that she was right under his feet, and she was messing with his legs. Instead of whatever she was expecting to happen, his legs having already been bent, decided to take a nap. He crumpled into a heap on the floor, landing right on top of her as she tried to maneuver. And considering how tiny and light she was, and how big and tall he was, she would likely be pinned, until he managed to finally get himself up and off, her probably being slightly squished in the confusion...

A Run into the Backside[Rykanis][Flashback]

Postby Dallisetria on April 24th, 2012, 1:18 am

The impact of his weight on her made her cry out in pain. "Ah!" she'd bit her tongue, and felt her lip and tongue bleeding. Had she bit her tongue? It was fuzzy. He weighed a lot. His skin was blue... or was it red? Or yellow... her eyes were hurting, and it felt like the room was spinning. She kept feeling like she'd done something wrong when she rolled. She wanted to mumble, "I'm sorry" but she couldn't. Her tongue hurt, her mouth was full of blood, and her lips were going numb. Her whole heart felt heavy, and she felt like a failure. I'm a failure! she thought harshly. She nearly started crying. No, she couldn't cry. She had to control things like that. She was trying to breath right, but she just couldn't. It all felt like she was getting smashed, gradually about to suffocate. But that was probably the blood clogging her mouth and nose.

She didn't feel anything sharp. So she expected no broken bones, other than the pain in her shoulder. But that was probably just because he'd fallen on her. She tried to look around, but failed. Where did the wooden dagger go? She didn't even move. She couldn't, even if she wanted to.

A Run into the Backside[Rykanis][Flashback]

Postby Rykanis Dakshata on April 24th, 2012, 1:36 am

He had not meant for that to happen. Really, the cat had caused it to happen to herself. So when it did, he instantly tried to get off of her.

Of course this was easier said than done, as he seemed to be pretty tangled, and did his best to get his weight off of her, until finally he got up, and rolled off of her, landing next to her on his back. He did not mean to squish the kitty!

As he looked over, his other side panicked, his fear kicking in at seeing the blood in her mouth, and her messed up lip. 'She is dead! We have to hide the body! Quick, before someone sees it! Toss her down the falls!'

Rykanis of course would have none of that, and his affection for the 'pretty little kitty', as he called her, suddenly rose in him.

He got up himself, and then in one fell swoop, stooped over, and swept her up into his arms, cradling her like one would a baby, rocking her back and forth.

"Oh Kitty! I am so sorry, you tripped my feet, and I fell. I did not mean to squish you! You are okay, it will be all better. We can get that lip all fixed up. It will be all better."

Saying this, he continued to rock her back and forth, starting to pet her head occasionally. Which probably would draw looks, from anyone else inside.

He had completely forgotten about his own practice weapon, and hers, both of which had been dropped. But someone else would get them, he was more concerned with Dall. He had already started heading towards the door, wanting to take her to get checked on.

"I will take you to get fixed up, and then you can rest at my house till you are feeling better."

A Run into the Backside[Rykanis][Flashback]

Postby Dallisetria on April 24th, 2012, 2:00 am

She tried to smile at him, and event though it kind of hurt, she managed. Awh, she wanted to say. She would have rubbed her face into his shoulder affectionately, but she didn't want to get her blood all over him. Instead, she hugged his arm tightly, and tried to purr. Though, she couldn't. Not in human form. And she was too tired to change anyway. Not that she wanted to. I probably look really gross, don't I, Rykanis? she wanted to ask in a joking way. But, she didn't want to spew blood on his face... She held his arm tighter, which was as tight as she possibly could, and she leaned the side of her head against him instead on the bloody front.

She wanted to look at her tongue... as they moved, she stuck it out, but she could barely see the end. It looked pinkish. Good, she thought. She found that she was just swallowing up most of the blood in her mouth, and eventually her tongue was feeling numb. Kind of felt like there was no pain, other than that in her lips. So, she tried to lick her lips. And even though her tongue didn't feel it, her lips did. She closed her eyes, and forced out a "thank you". And tried not to laugh. She was such a damsel in distress.

A Run into the Backside[Rykanis][Flashback]

Postby Rykanis Dakshata on April 24th, 2012, 3:53 am

Rykanis simply walked along, cradling her like a child. He smiled down at her, stroking her hair, shushing her with a consoling voice, as she clung to his arms. He kept walking along as she leaned her head against his chest, and he held her with his arms protectively surrounding her.

He heard her thank him, to which Rykanis just shushed her in a calm soothing voice, continuing to carry her until they got to his room.

"Here we are, my place. I have to set you down for a second, so I can open the door."

So he set her down for a bit, got the door open, and picked her up once more, sweeping her into his room, and knocking the door shut with foot. Though he did not consider the fact that she could probably walk again...

His room was not that busy, it had a hearth on the far wall across from the door, which when lit warmed the room. The left side held his bed, and a table, and the right side a padded couch. He took her over to the padded couch, and sat her down, and looked at her face.

"Now let me see your mouth kitty. Is it feeling any better?"

A Run into the Backside[Rykanis][Flashback]

Postby Dallisetria on April 24th, 2012, 10:43 pm

She was shushed, and so her eyes were closed, until he started speaking again. She didn't move, she was limp- dead weight. She knew she could stand up, now, but she knew that disobeying would not be nice, and being carried was actually kind of fun, and somewhat comfortable. She looked up, her eyes big and glossy, watching him open the door, and then she was picked back up. Even though she was in human form, when he had closed the door with his foot, her ears ringed slightly, and felt like twitching. Though obviously, they didn't.

When he sat her down, she felt like giggling, more or less. She jutted out her chin, but then seeing as that didn't, help, she looked directly into Rykanis's eyes, and leaned forward so he could see her face better. "My tongue feels numb, now, and my lips just kind of sting." she waited a moment, thinking about how it felt. "Sore," she mumbled. "It's very sore." she sighed, and felt like leaning back, but if Rykanis had wanted to inspect her face further, she did not move away. That, and it didn't bother her very much.

Rykanis stared on, as Dall looked him back in the eyes. He smiled at her, at there closeness. He peered closer at her lips, but they seemed okay, were already stopping bleeding...

"Well, it looks okay. I am sure you will be fine. Just give it a bit of time."

Rykanis got up from in front of Dall, and sat next to her, moving his hand to scratch her behind the ear once more.

"But I insist you stay the night, you will be nice and warm here. I think I have a winter blanket in my pack you can use."

He got up for a moment, and rooted through his pack. He tossed aside his bedroll, and finally found his winter blanket. He tossed it over Dall's lap, and smiled once more, returning to scratching her behind the ear.

"You can sleep here if you want kitty, the couch is nice and padded. Or you can use the bed. Just rest and feel better."
