Working in a library is almost as good as drugs

Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Pure Ecstasy(solo)

All was quiet in the library. The only noise to be heard was the breathing of the resident Akalak librarian, and the Screeching of quills as they moved over parchment. It was Kennens favorite sound, and it sent a shiver up his spine the faster that screech occurred. Mainly because, it was coming from the main librarian as he was writing down Kennen's tasks for the day. What secrets in the library were he to learn about today? What books were he to read and copy? Would this be the day he was assigned to work on the Pre-Valterian works? Or perhaps he'd be tasked to copy down books on obscure medicinal herbs? The waiting for his tasking was going to kill him. He hadn't felt this antsy since he was a small boy.

Finally the librarian looked up with an annoyed expression, "Boy I believed you would have learned by now. Your being paid to copy, not sit around and take orders. Go find an original, be careful with it, and copy." With that the librarian looked back down at his book, clearly a firm dismissal. Kennen's heart sank at first, he had been waiting all this time and it was for naught? He could have been already working on the copying. But then, the librarian's words hit him: Go find an original, is what he had said. That meant, surely not. But he had said it so it must be true. Kennen would get to pick what he worked on.

And he was off. He had learned library manners before, but they seemed to fade as he almost skipped through the libraries, around shelves, and past groups of people. Every shelf held a mystery for him to learn from, and they were all his. Anyone he wanted he was allowed to take and read, and get paid for it. Well, get paid for copying, but that required reading the book of course. He had to slow down to catch his breath, the possibilities flashing through his mind causing him to get dizzy. Oh my, so many possibilities where to start? Well, he had always wanted to learn more of glyphing. After all, that's a key concept in mastering higher forms of shields. The better the glyphs, the better the shields. That was one thing he had retained in his magical classes that weren't specifically related to protecting books.

With a large smile Kennen set off through the library. Through his wandering, he had managed to end up on the opposite side from where the magical books were kept. And, he would have to pass the librarian to get to them. No doubt he'd be scolded for not having started, so perhaps he should choose a book from over here? Nah, he could endure the scolding. But he wasn't sure he could endure the knowledge of knowing that he had a chance at studying this book thoroughly and without a time frame.

He did his best to pass by the librarian without catching his attention, and as such, he himself missed the smirk on the librarians lips as he noticed Kennen's enthusiasm. As he reached the shelves on magic, Kennen's heart sank. There weren't that many, and they weren't that organised either. only a row or so of them, and this was supposed to contain all the knowledge that the library had on magic. Not just glyphing. This was going to be hard. He had to choose the perfect book to work on. One that would teach him about glyphing, and yet wasn't to advanced.
