Marian Tarmikos
History Seeker

History must be written of, by and for the survivors
-Anonymous

-Overview-
Male Human, age 19, born Spring 52, 493 AV

-Appearance-
Beneath the brim on Marian's hat one will find a face of an historian. Brown eyes appear to dissect everything that falls under their gaze, observing everything in case it was the next discovery in the world. The color of the eyes, brown, matches Marian's hair, which is kept short for most of the year; when winter comes around, he allows it to grow a little. With his Zeltivan blood, and exposure to the sun, his skin is naturally tan. Marian is of an average build, lean better describing him with little muscle tone or fat. No matter where he is, others will find Marian wearing his black hat and a scarf of some sort. Other than that, his style is random.

Never being much of a fighter, Marian lacks the usual scars common in Mizahar. In fact, his only blemish on his body is a tattoo of the name Lucia along his neck. The relationship didn't last, of course, which is why Marian wears a scarf; to cover up his break-up in case he ever met another lover.

-Concept-
Marian wasn't born with a destiny to lead armies or spend his days manipulating others in politics. Instead, he was born with an unsatisifed hunger to uncover history and its mysteries. His entire personality has crafted around the skills he needed to sate this hunger. His quiet nature comes from his own belief that words are wasted when time can be better spent observing and soaking in the knowledge around him. He is humble, withdrawn, and a difficult one to anger. He is a scholar, not a fighter.

Only one thing catches Marian's attention as easily as a book; women. Some what of a womanizer, Marian has developed a trait of flirting with just about any woman. He doesnt't try to let women distract him from other, more important situations. Although even though he's always enjoyed women, his trust for them is rather shaky due to his recent relationship with Lucia.

His final flaw is his sharp wit and smart remarks. When angered or annoyed, Marian often has an insult stored away he's eager to try out. He tries not to let it go further than the remark, though. Only those who gain Marian's ire ever gets these remarks often, although they do slip out often. Most times though, when around friends, it is in a joking manner.

-History-
Born in Zeltiva to a shipwright father and cook at the Zeltivan University, Marian lived a good life. He was observed growing up so that when his natural ability revealed itself, they could immediately captialize it. Marian's natural talent happened to be cartography, which happened to be an easy skill to train, as classes was taught at the University. So for a few years he studied, learning the map-making trade with the sailing profession in mind. Alas, Marian got terribly seasick on his first voyage, and he learned that life on the ocean was not for him.

During the time his father spent pondering other career choices for his son, Marian frequented the library where he discovered his interest in history. He threw himself into the tomes provided, trying to imagine life before the current day and age. He also discovered his desire to uncover history unknown by others. He wished to discover history that had remained unknown up to that point. To do that he needed a good starting point, a good career, and free time away from his family.

To do that, Marian put to use his second natural talent; Informating Gathering. Using his intelligience he was blessed with, he came across the fact that his father was asking opinions of fellow shipsmen; it seemed he was sailing whether he liked it or not. Putting this little information to use, Marian placed unsigned letters around their homes hinting at moving him to Syliras. It only took a few of these letters, including one that mentioned the mounds of gold Marian could make, to convince his father. He was moving to Syliras.

So his father sent a messenger ahead with gold enough to buy a small suite in the city for Marian. And then final goodbyes were given before he found himself traveling with a caravan onward to Syliras. He had a location and a goal in mind. The rest was up to him and the gods.

Marian Tarmikos

Postby Marian Tarmikos on May 23rd, 2012, 8:57 pm

-General Information-
1. What is your Name? Marian Tarmikos
2. Do you go by a nickname or pet name? I call myself the History Seeker, but no one else has heard the name. So I'm just Marian.
3. How old are you? Nineteen
4. What is your height? 5'8''
5. What is your weight? About 160 pounds

-Aesthetics-
1. Describe yourself as you see yourself. A man with a noble cause to unearth history lost in the ages no matter what I have to do to accomplish this.
2. Describe yourself as others typically see you. A quiet adolescent who is unlike others of his age. A boy who would rather read a dusty book than drink in the taverns and pinch the serving women.
3. What is your favorite body feature? My eyes. They are normally brown, but when the sun glints off my eye at the right moment, people swear they turn blue at that instant.
4. How physically fit are you? I was never into sports or outdoors activites, so my muscle tone is. . . well let's just say I don't have muscle tone. But I'm not fat. Lean is a better word.
5. How do you typically dress and what is your style?
I guess my style would have to be the broad brim hat I wear, along with the scarf that never leaves my neck. Other than that, I'll wear just about anything. Except cloaks. I'll always wear a nice jacket before a cloak.

-Family-
1. Who are your parents and what are they like? My father is called Marlow, and my mother Elayne. My father always wanted what was best for me, pushing me to my limits to succeed. My mother was sweet and caring. And she could cook like a master chef.
2. Do you have any brothers or sisters? Sadly I am an only child. My mother miscarriaged my little sister, and she nearly died along with the infant. After that, my parents gave up on having other children.
3. What is your extended family like? Never met them. They all moved to other corners of the world, except for my cousin. But he was in the prison so I never visited him.
4. Do you consider close friends as important or more/less important than family? Before moving from home, I would've said less important. But now I live away from them, and friends will be all I have. So I guess they would be more important because they'd become my family.
5. Do you treat animals like family? I'm not cruel to them, but they're also food in my eyes. Except dogs. Dogs are cool.

-Location-
1. Where were you born? Zeltiva
2. Where do you live now? Syliras
3. If you could live anywhere in Mizahar where would that be? Anywhere that had history waiting to be discovered.
4. Do you have a favorite place to vacation or spend leisure time? A library
5. Where do you fear to be? On a boat. Seasickness is not fun.

-Traits-
1. Do you have any physical weaknesses (disease, scars, and missing limbs?) I'm disease free, and unblemished by scars.
2. Are you right handed or left handed? Left-handed. Yes I'm odd.
3. What languages do you speak? What do you sound like? Do you have an accent? I speak common and Frateva. My voice isn't booming deep, but it isn't high pitched either. Do Zeltivans have an accent? If they do, then I guess I have that.
4. Do you have any odd mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics? I tend to stare at things, or people if they catch my attention. And I pop my knuckles. Feels so good, but it tends to annoy people.
5. Do you have (or want to get) any tattoos or piercing? Why do you have them (or will get them) ? I have a tattoo of an ex-girlfriend along the left side of my neck. It hurt, but I did it for love. Turns out she didn't love my back. Now it remains covered by my scarf.

-Occupations-
1. What is your occupation? I'm currently unemployed.
2. Do you like/dislike your work? Why? I'm sure if I had a job, I'd enjoy it.
3. If you could be anything you wanted to, what would you be? Well I guess an obvious choice would be a cartographer. But courier work is interesting. And a spy lives an awesome life, of what I've heard. Plus anything to do with history sounds amazing. . . I haven't quite decided.
4. What occupation do you admire the most? Why? Any profession where someone would put their life on the line for others. No mercenary work, but honest soldiers.
5. What occupation do you lest like? Why? Lawyers. They're crooks.

4. What sort of relationship did you have with your parents? A solid one. Sometimes the rules got annoying, but I got over them.

-Education-
1. What sort of education do you have? I studied cartography at Zeltiva University, but only the basic classes. Other than that, I know only what I've read about.

4. How do you learn best? By doing what I'm learning. But if it just lore knowledge, reading is my best tool.
5. What are your educational goals for the future? Learn anything and everything I want to learn.

2. Do you trust people easily? If not, why not? I can trust men easily, but women get me. They are so different, so mysterious.
3. Do you consider yourself straight, gay, bi, or something else? Straight
4. Have you ever been kissed? If so, describe the first time. I kissed Lucia once. Is a girl suppose to be laughing after it?
5. Have you ever had sex? If so, describe the first time. Sadly no. Lucia wasn't going to go that far with someone she didn't like very much. Although I've seen sex before. It was a life lesson; don't walk into your parent's rooms without knocking.
