While Sylira is by far the most civilized region of Mizahar, countless surprises and encounters await the traveler in its rural wilderness. Called the Wildlands, Syliran's wilderness is comprised of gradual rolling hills in the south that become deep wilderness in the north. Ruins abound throughout the wildlands, and only the well-marked roads are safe.

Aello glided around Xalet's leg with ease, occasionally thrusting an arm out to swipe at him, but for the most part, reining herself in. Simply parrying his blows with ease, until he fell. Certain she just about had him, Aello stepped forward, only to find a bolt coming at her. Surprised, her eyes went wide, and for an instant, she froze before her muscles ground forward, sinking in a bit, just enough to keep her from the brunt of the assault. But, it was not enough for her to miss the bolt completely. The metal bit tearing through a layer of her skin, right about her left shoulder. Blood spattering the snow in an array of crimson red. Her skin darkening to match as it began to sting. Her blade to slide in her hand. Outraged, she thrust a spare at the trigger; aiming to sever the string before the dagger had a chance to slide into face.
Aello watched the metal slide through the air for but an instant, before she darted forward, her free hand coming onto her bleeding shoulder to keep the fluid in as she pushed off the ground in a flurry of snow. Soon her body was growing flat; she was gliding over him. Her head rolling forward, into her chest as her dagger wielding hand came out towards the end of the flight. Just before her head touched the ground, she thrust the dagger down, towards the far side of the Akalak's neck, where his shoulder met. For once fleeting second, a single beat, everything seemed still, and then, there was a muffled thud, a spray of snow as her head touched down, and then her body rolled out. Leaving her lying on her back, just beyond the seated Akalak. A soft groan would escape her lips as sharp shooting pains wound themselves through the length of her back, along the narrowing course of her spine.
"Enough," Aello would grunt, as she forced herself onto her feet, holding her weapon behind him. "Enough," she'd say again, as she eyed the trail of blood, wondering if they'd gone a bit too far this time.
OOCShe'd go for the jump close to the shoulder, so that she wouldn't have to clear the head. Or... she'd try to anyway. |

Too far was right, the reality of their encounter was sinking in now. All those times using blunted bolts was coming back to him. The entire time he had dealt with Aello, she seemed more like a combat Goddess than a real woman. Even as he squeezed the trigger upon his crossbow, in his mind he never for an instant believed the bolt would make contact. To catch her clothing or perhaps ricochet off of her sideways would have been good enough for him. When the blood spattered across the ground, the wave of disbelief that hit him was unreal. What had he just done? How much guilt traveled through his system? Xalet had been injured plenty, but injury was a part of his life as a squire. If the wound wasn't mortal, he would heal. That was the overall census when it came to any Knight that instructed him.
In that instant, with Aello racing toward him, Xalet leaned back onto the ground. The snow radiated it's cold through the metal of his armor, only partially shrouded by the heavy cotton gambeson beneath. How exactly did he go about asking for forgiveness involving something like this? His tapered ears picked up the sounds of Aello's slender body coming to a stop, halting her final attack upon him and coming to rest upon the ground.
Now the strains, the muscle pulls, all the pains of his body began to wash over him. The heightened exhaustion from using Evantia. Managing to roll onto his stomach, Xalet pushed himself up with his palms so he could properly face Aello, "I am sorry, I did not mean for this to happen. I will tend to you. Anything that you wish. It...was only my intention to improve, not to cause harm." he lowered his head as he spoke those final words. Aello was a proud woman, he could tell. Whether or not she would accept anything he had to offer, he felt there was now a debt that cosmically entangled himself to her. Neither part of him, dark or light, relished the thought of being in debt. |
