Appearance This ten inch, ruddy clay statuette moves with uncanny fluidity one fails to expect from a simple sculpture. Saige's natural form is mostly humanoid save for the horns protruding from her skull. She sports a childish face, short hair and “wears” nothing but loose harem pants. This appearance gives her the impression of being some kind of forest spirit to those she meets. Strapped across her shoulder is a teal bag that generally contains her journal, ink and scrolls among other miscellaneous objects. Appearance History :

Concept Upon first impression, it can be noted that Saige is a logical and calculating pycon, always thinking two steps ahead from the rest of the crowd. However, the assumption that these characteristics also make her a reasonable being is about as far from the target as one can get. She might be intelligent in the strategies she carries out, but the goals she wishes to reach are entirely governed by her emotions. From depression to euphoria, only those closest to her can understand her rapid changes in attitude, and the closer one is to her, the less she will try to hide it. Buried in books day in and day out, Saige has an appetite for knowledge that cannot be satisfied by dusty tomes in ancient languages. She studies history to the point of obsession, finding the bias in the books she reads problematic, and frankly a little annoying. Still, she carries on, looking for information wherever she goes. She has very strict rules when it comes to her magical discipline and respecting social boundaries, the only problem about her morals being that she often disregards them. Though she genuinely believes in letting things flow as they should, so she could observe and record on the sidelines, she nonetheless finds herself sticking her head where she shouldn't. More often than not, she cannot help but get involved in matters that do not regard her in an attempt to 'set things straight', a phrase she uses repeatedly. |
History Born of two lively, energetic Pycons, the beginning of Saige's short life was not a difficult one. They were both merchants, selling their wares from city to city, and the fact that she was born in Alvadas was just happenstance. They made themselves comfortable for the duration of Saige's childhood, a mere six months before she was fully mature. During their stay, she was often encouraged to explore the city of illusions, for they were adventurers by nature and they wanted their daughter to learn the wonders of exploration herself. Fascinated by the Sunken Conundrum's strange nature, Saige made this her primary destination, sometimes walking on for hours until Ionu finally gave her the building she was looking for. She even found practical uses in her reading by learning her first magical discipline, Aurisitcs, without even a teacher. All this was a strange notion to her parents, who were neither scholars nor wizards, and couldn't understand her new found obsession. She constantly spoke, constantly speculated about the discovering the secrets of Alvadas, always wanting answers. By the time her parents were seeing signs of adulthood in Saige, they could not wait to pack up and go. The only problem was that Saige showed no signs of wanting to leave. They urged her to come with them, to come see for herself that it was so much more fulfilling to see the world than to stay cooped up in one city. But to her, Alvadas was an endless mystery, with endless discovery and adventure to be had within. So, she explained that she would be making her home there, at least until a future opportunity presented herself. They parted on good terms, though Saige couldn't help but find herself lonely, no longer able to discuss openly and comfortably with people she knew intimately. It was during this time that Saige experienced her stronger mood swings, and locked herself up in her small home, doing nothing but sleeping through both day and night, waking up only to eat and write down what she remembered from her dreams. Then the djed storm came, and changed the young pycon's perspective on life. It was a wake up call in the literal sense, where she realized her own mortality, and how little she had learned since her family left. She starting leaving her home again, exploring the damaged city, her habit of recording her dreams translating into recording her observations in waking hours. She even found someone to initiate her into the magical discipline of Reimancy, suddenly uncomfortable with the fact that she had no means of defending herself in the dangerous world. While beforehand, Saige simply created her own imagination-fueled worlds during her dreaming hours, she now searched for methods of lucid dreaming, and communicating with her subconscious. She studied the subject at the Sunken Conundrum, and her admiration of the god Nysel grew exponentially from there. |
Nysel With an immense imagination that tired of the real world all too soon, Saige became captivated by the dreams that came to her at night. She found these hallucinations profoundly interesting from a young age, and eventually engrossed herself in the subject, reading every book concerning dreams she could get her hands on. It was in a library that she learned to worship Nysel, not only falling in love with his realm but also his neutral disposition, having a similar perspective on the world herself. When going through a bout of depression, Saige sleeps endlessly, so enraptured in her dreams that she loses her connection with reality. Ionu While Saige respects Ionu, she does not worship him for the very simple reason that she cannot relate to him. She does not enjoy being left in the dark, which is something that the god specializes in. In fact, she remains in a city as confusing as Alvadas only to uncover the secrets that Ionu has hidden. |
