84th of Summer, 512AV Having left the Spires nearly 20 days ago, Marcus and his patron knight, Ser Noah, were now back on the Kabrin Road, heading south towards Syliras with the same group they had traveled with to the Spires. Of course they were missing several members of the group, as others had decided to go off on separate adventures elsewhere, such as the likes of Xalet. Had Marcus had any of the experience of those who went, he would be inclined to explore the reaches of the continent as well, but he was still new to this whole lifestyle, and still had much to learn in the ways of combat and survival. Night was falling rather quickly and stars now sprinkled the sky which only had a light orange glow on the western sky. As they traveled, Marcus looked up at the sky. He seemed to be hypnotized by the beauty of the coming knight sky, or maybe stargazing was a simple way to pass the time. The party soon came to a halt, as it was time to make camp for the night. They had traveled through the night the previous night but rest would be needed now if they wanted to make it back to Syliras. The group approached a small clearing, just off the Kabrin Road, and each member of the party began to quickly set up their own camp. Marcus and Ser Noah did not have much, simply a blanket for each of them, used to pad the ground. It was summer so nights tended to be warm, especially in the full armor of the Syliran Knights they were wearing. Marcus layed his blanket out as did Ser Noah, before Noah went ahead and prepared some firewood to be lit. Once he had a decent amount of wood he dropped it on the ground in front of the boy. 'Alright Braeden, make a fire. It's time that we started teaching you a thing or two about learning how to not be killed while outside Syliras." Marcus simply chuckled as he took his flint and quickly ignited a spark which lead to a flame. "I may not know too much about survival and all, but I do know how to make a fire. I was a smith most of my life after all." Noah smirked, "Ahhh but lighting a fire is but one step" The knight said. "Alright" Marcus replied "then tell me Ser, what is the key to surviving out here?" |
