52nd of Spring,512AV Boats. It was the only way he was getting out of Ravok. He and Rikki had briefly spoken about stowing away on one but it never worked out that way. And it wouldn't. Cause Rikki was dead. Shivering from things other than a breeze Matthaus stared out into the waters. Where would he even go? How would he pay because he was not letting people here of all places know he could actually pay for the voyage. maybe he could stowaway. Hide out on the boat until they reached some sort of port. And then the water turned red, in his mind he could see it and with the fading imaginary that haunted him his plans slipped away as well. The boy turned sharply and walked away from the docks, pulling his cloak tighter around him and wondering precisely what he was going to do. Rather than dwell he approached the nearest person he could find before moving away. Now was not the time for any tomfoolery, no, what he needed was to get information. Approaching a sailor he pulled off his hood low and tried to make his voice gravelly by rumbling low in his throat, not doubt sounding more like a speaking dog. "Any ships here that sails south." "Whats it for?" The boy gazed at the sailor from under his hood and stood straighter, knowing well any sailor would take anything with the right pay. But he was not about to pay this man, "People." And that was one word too much because the sailor leaned down and spoke in a quiet voice that meant trouble. His face a cross between annoyance and honesty. "I ain't taking no run-a-away slaves on my boats, move along boy-o." to emphasize this, he gaze Matthaus a rough shove backwards and stepped past him. "Who said anything about slaves?!" But that was also not the right thing to say because the man spun on him, and the he felt the blow before he registered it. falling on his rear he watched with a baffled expression as the sailor walked away. Truthfully the man had done right. If anyone had heard him say things like that looking like he did it wouldn't end well for any party involved. the man was probably, in his own way, thinking he knocked some sense into the boy. That and protected himself after Mathaus' little shout. Still he wouldn't stop, he'd keep asking till someone told him what he needed to know. |
