Stretching northward along the coastline of the Suvan Sea, the Cobalt Mountains are the home of the Bronze Wood, numerous ruins, and creatures both strange and fantastical.

The rabbit she handed him was a meager little thing, mangled and skinny. But his mouth watered at the smell of it and he took the offering without hesitation. Why would she give him her kill? Even though it wasn't much of meal, it was still food, and he would normally never give away his food if it was up to him. He stared at the woman as if the answer would suddenly pop up on her face, but it didn't. Instead she said her quick goodbyes, went to gather her things, and started off. His mind was war with itself once again.

He was so lonely, having nary a companion in the entire region of Sylira. A large part of him wanted to at least follow her, even it was just to be near someone. Then the other part him wanted to keep to himself, to take his meal and leave, never to see this troublesome woman again. She'd harmed him and he didn't know when he would heal. He might have to go stay in the city until it did, forgoing the woods where he made his home. But then she gave him food, and cleaned his wood to an extent. The larger part of him won, and it was the last glance that she gave him that tilted the scale.

With a huff he went to retrieve the rabbit he had been eating before the whole situation, shifting skins along the way. It turned out his wounded shoulder would support his weight fairly easily, he just had to limp a little awkwardly. It stung horribly with each step, but that wasn't a big setback when you weighed nearly half a ton. The main irritating thing about it was how his fur around the wound matted with what blood there was left. Most of the flow had stopped but it leaked a little with each step, and it made his shoulder feel heavier and stiff. Bartal followed the woman with both rabbits hanging from his jaws, a clearly grumpy look on his face.

He planned on parting ways in a few hours to go fetch his things and to prepare to spend some time in the city. He wasn't a fan of the walled in structure, with its foul odors and crowded streets. The jays were replaced by pigeons and carrion, and the grass by cold stone, but this was now necessary. It would be in his best interest to go get his wound dressed properly and not dillydally like a silly cub.

Bunnies, Bears, & the Bird People (Evora)

Evora walked a short way before raising her bow again. She trudged through the forest abandoning any effort to keep quiet. She no longer had any interest in hunting. She planned on going straight to her tent, not even stopping in the city, lighting a fire and settleing down.

Evora had not gotten far though before she noticed she was being followed. They were heavy lumbering steps that made Evora raise her bow. But when she caught a glimps of the brown bear she quickly dropped it, guilt quickly consuming her once more. She walked through the brush and stood before the great big bear, "Why are you following me? I have offered you help and you've refused. What more do you want of me?" she asked feeling somewhat foolish now that she was talking to a bear rather than the man from earlier.

Bunnies, Bears, & the Bird People (Evora)

This woman wasn't quiet in the slightest. She crunched and stomped and lumbered just as a bear would. If he wasn't in such a sour mood he would've found it amusing. Again Bartal wondered why he was following such a troublesome human. She must have wondered too because when she realized he was tailing her she stopped. Her bow raised and he froze mid-step, reflexively clamping his jaw tightly. Several bones in the two rabbits hanging from his mouth crunched loudly with the pressure. Thankfully she lowered the dreaded weapon and he relaxed marginally.

The woman pushed through the undergrowth and halted in front of him, demanding why he was following. Why am I? It was a good question, and one he couldn't answer. So he just peered at her, grunting around the flesh and fur packed in his mouth. Then he realized he technically wasn't trailing her, only walking in the same direction. With a great deal more dignity than a few moments ago he snorted and brushed by her, walking with a purposeful air. It would have looked better if he wasn't limping, but that didn't matter. Bartal couldn't speak in this skin anyway, so why try and convey his intentions with pantomime? They were technically even and owed each other nothing. Technically.

Her questioning had washed away any desire he had of accompanying her for any short amount of time. Bartal had wanted quiet. Not more talking. What did she expect him to do? Shift just to answer her and then shift back, wasting precious energy? He snorted to himself, thinking her foolish. If she thought of him as selfish or rude for ignoring her so blatantly, at the moment he couldn't muster the energy to care. The hole in his shoulder was smarting something awful, and the sooner he washed his hands - paws - of her, the sooner he could get this setback checked out. So with a last glance over his massive shoulder he lumbered off.

Had he been misleading, giving the impression that he was going to try and coax something else from her? A conversation or some more food? Oh well, he thought flippantly. It was common for him to change his mind suddenly and veer into another train of thought. One thing he wondered though was what that woman's name was. It wasn't as important as his current objective though, so he had no plans to turn back and ask. This is going to scar, he thought absently.

Storyteller Notes

Secret :
Just make sure when you post replies that they’re long enough to effectively give out experience for. When you want to complete an action and gain experience from it, there must be some definable bit of knowledge in the description. Like Evora, perhaps when you were utilizing your longbow instead of just mentioning that you loose an arrow, you could account for wind direction, or lead a target due to it’s movement. Other than that everything seemed spot on..
