Akin to its name, the Makutsi Springs are believed to have been created by Makutsi, the goddess of rain, rivers, water, springs, lakes, and oases. The goddess had been known to create miraculous occurrences, like such, and the springs were no exception. The Jamoura discovered the springs in 315 A.V.

Finding the springs was an accident. The Jamoura had been combing through the underbrush and stumbled upon the pools. With such a keen memory, the Jamoura quickly realized the springs had not always been there. Taking the appearance of the steaming water as a gift from Makutsi, the Jamoura dedicated the springs to her.

Once a year the Jamoura celebrate Makutsi. The Rebirthing is a holiday in the Spring and takes place when the Shaiki River first floods. The Jamoura take this as a gift from Makutsi and Jamoura of all ages make their way to the planting grounds. Those who are unable to plant watch the youngest Jamoura.

Seeds are distributed to all who are able to work in shoulder slings. An individual is expected to plant four slings, at least. These are filled with coffee, tea, chocolate. The fourth has tiny saplings to be planted. The Jamoura work together in teams of four.

The first will work up the soil. This task includes pulling weeds, clearing any stones, and the like. A pile will be created for each. The second person, using their hands, digs a hole deep enough for the seed to be planted and the third places the seed or sapling. The second individual must know how deep to dig and how far apart the crops must be. The third must place the seed in the correct position and cover it with dirt. The fourth person has a job of equal proportions. They water the newly planted crop using a clay bowl. Each individual treats the ground with the utmost care.

Each crop is planted differently and it is expected for all Jamoura to first receive information on how the crops are planted. The individual who informs the Jamoura has done so nearly since the springs were discovered.

This holiday celebrates Makutsi and what she brings to the Spires. When the season is complete, the Jamoura gather once again. One of each crop is tossed into the Shaiki River to travel where the water leads and grow there. It is considered an offering to Makutsi, to thank her for the river flooding. When the saplings are grown, one of their fruits will be tossed into the river.
