19th Day of Winter 512 AV Kienwynn paid the man at the stand for the quiver she had just purchased. She left the man so he could sell his wares to others. Quickly her eyes wandered toward the sky as she squinted up at the soaring bird she had sent into the air moments before. Rani usually got nervous in large crowds, she knew he felt better in the air where he could keep a watchful eye on his master. Kienwynn's turquoise eyes lowered to her next destination, Snow-Stained Bows. When she reached the entrance she brought her arm up leaving her forearm relatively level with the ground. The bird's eyes caught the cue and he came down slowing as he closed his talons around her arm. Her mouth twitched slightly at the sharp pain she felt at Rani's talons. "I wonder where I could find a leather arm guard." She said quietly as she entered the building. Her eyes immediately laid upon walls of different bows and arrows. Her eyes caught on a display in the center of the room. The bow was large and of a dark wood, beautifully crafted. The arrows were just as beautiful, with exotic feathers clearly used in their making. Kienwynn smiled at the wonderful craftsmanship, jumping at a woman's demanding voice. She turned to face her assailant. "May I help you?" A woman with the eyes of someone used to authority and dark hair stood before Kienwynn. Kienwynn nodded as Rani crawled his way up to her shoulder. "I was hoping to buy a bow and some arrows. It's probably obvious, but I'm not very well-versed in archery. Although I was hoping to learn." She offered a smile. "What do you suggest for beginners?" The woman sighed and looked around her shop. "What do you intend to do with it?" She looked over at the falcon on Kienwynn's shoulder. "Hunting, I would assume." Kienwynn smiled. "That's exactly it. Could you tell me a little about the right bow for my purposes?" Her eyes swiftly melted into the light yellow green color of chartreuse. The woman sighed again, "Alright." she lead Kienwynn to the far wall of the shop and took down a bow of the smaller kind. "Shortbow made from yew ought to be good enough." The woman handed it to Kienwynn as she reached for twenty nearby arrows. "Shortbow arrows, unless you plan to stun instead of kill." "Oh, no. Regular arrows are just fine." Kienwynn gratefully slung the bow around herself then took the arrows and placed them inside her new quiver. "How much do I owe you?" "Thirty-seven gold mizas." The woman answered simply crossing her arms impatiently. Kienywnn nodded and fished out the thirty-seven gold mizas, placing them in the woman's open palm. "Thank you very much." She bowed her head slightly before leaving the store, happy with her purchase. |
