The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

Seeing The Park's Heart

Syna had broken the jagged mountain horizon but a few minutes ago. Dawn rest just ended. A Lethborn had just awoken. He stretched, acclimating for a moment to his day form. Seleucus put boney feet to the simple wood floor of his apartment, wincing at the cold of the polished boards. After a chime he stood, raising a hand to try and tousle his wild main into some semblance of neatness, only managing to worsen the situation. Giving up with a sigh he walked to where his pants, shirt and scarf lay, slipping them on.

Time to get out and about, the young man thought as he dressed in his boots and cloak. He had spent a great deal of time in the too busy to do much outside of the library and his encounter with the strange woman at the hot springs, and hardly any at all focusing on his magical disciplines. He couldn't afford to let them fall to the wayside, one day he hoped to be working to craft only the finest of enchanted items, and you couldn't do that with shoddy skills left ages untouched. While he might not be able to magecraft without a proper laboratory and tools, he might still afford to work on his auristics and glyphing. Better to stop thinking and start doing.

Seleucus had spent days planning the trip, and had even been sure to bask in Leth's light a few extra minutes the previous night to attain proper sustenance without having to eat during the day. Gods forbid he could afford to get any skinnier. He walked purposefully through Surya Plaza turning to the direction of the Koten Temple, and heading up it's winding path. Seleucus continued before turning by an overhang, traveling to the Ahleas Park. It is famed for the amount of wild djed there, with it I can try to sharpen my auristic sight. Shaking his mop of dark brown hair out of his eyes, he sighed. Finally here. There was no denying the beauty of Alheas, even in bitter winter. The faedong trees drooped, gently bowing courtiers covered with caps of snow and robed in icicles. Here and there Seleucus could spy skyglass benches that glistened in the Syna's light, warm enough with their natural heat to prevent a buildup of snow, for now.

Seleucus walked for a few chimes, going deeper into the park to prevent an intrusion into his practice by any passer by. Stopping be the pond, which was skimmed with a delicate sheen of ice, he settled onto one of the glittering benches he sighed at the gentle warmth it gave off, fortifying his backside from cold and frost. Even Ethaefal could suffer from frostbite, and especially in their forms not protected by the touch of the divine. Marvelous stuff skyglass, warm year round, made from the stuff of heavens, crystalline and beautiful, it rather reminded Seleucus of his horns. He reached for the place were they resided during the night, grasping the air above his head. He shook his head. Time to reminisce later, right now I need to focus. Seleucus breathed in deeply and exhaled slowly, clearing his mind.

Seleucus reached within him, djed dwelt within all things, a code that reflected nature and a code nature reflected. Now then, I need to peer into that reflection. He tapped into his djed and pulled it into concentration at his eyes. A cool burn, like cold fire or an electric current streamed into them, tingling and sizzling with power. He twisted his fingers together, index and thumb of each hand forming interlocking circles, representative of the cyclical and eternal nature of djed. His other fingers pointed down, with the tips steepled together. Closing his eyes he muttered a short litany in ancient tongue, and opened his eyes.

A soft wash of colours blossomed over everything. From here he couldn't quite tell what any of it meant, but Seleucus still thought it beautiful. What shall I focus on first, a faedong? The man turned to the nearest tree, and stared into it as though it were a window for gazing, focusing his powers on the tree. All other auras faded into the distance, fading into a visual background noise, the faedong he focused on had an aura which grew brighter and more detailed as he stared. It was painted in a soft green, with touches of pastel pink and lilac. The aura extended about a half a thumbs length from the extremities of the tree, larger than an inanimate, say a rock, but smaller than your average animal. The whole aura pulsed slowly, very slowly, with the quiet beat of the trees life. Well what can I find from this, hmmm. As he stared he began to sense general facts about the tree, it's wood was of medium durability, softest and most flexible in the branches. The tree was in some sort of hibernation, and it's sap had frozen. The tree was at least a century...What was this? Here and there, about the edge of the trees aura, there was a flicker, just once every few minutes. The flickering would briefly edge the aura in a psychedelic corona of colours, over so fast it seemed to have never happened. Seleucus peered harder, it seemed the tree had wild djed. Not so much so that it would present a danger, but strong enough to lend a strange quality to the tree, an air of mystic potential.
