The Furnival Journal

As this is my first journal entry, I would like to establish a couple of things to whom it may concern if this journal ever falls into the hands of him who is curious enough to read this collection of entries. If I am deceased, it is my wish that I died for my castle.

First, my name in its fullest form is John Furnival. I am titled with Ser , as I am a knight; a Sylrian knight of Stormhold Castle. I pray that the only reason for which this should be an old status is because I am retired and my later days are upon me or I am deceased from battle.

As of this day, I have not much to say other than that I was born to a Margaret Furnival, maiden Wittstock, and a Ser Roland Furnival. My father died in a duel when I was only a couple of weeks of age. He too, was a Sylrian knight. My mother, who worked at home, became a midwife to pay for our expenses and, with difficulty, raised me, an only child, 'till my adolescence, until she was needed in a different region of Mizahar; Taldera. I hope the best for her, but I am content with my current location; Sylria.

As I have grown up in Stormhold Castle, I am proud to say that I am one of the few that have ever truly fulfilled their childhood dream; I am a protector of the very building in which I grew to adulthood. I wished for this and nothing more in my childhood, save for a fine lass. The coin is fair and so is the feed from the knightly work, but without a lady, life might as well just be called alive.

I have not fancied myself upon a single book of any sort because books are so rare and of high expense. If I had the time and mizas, I would purchase a book so quickly my pockets could as well have holes in them!

This is all for to-night. I am tired from the day's work and to-morrow shall be no easier. Thus, I am off to sleep 'til the early morning, long before sunrise.
