Character Concept (Coming soon...) Personality: (more to come...) Trusting - Sers has the habit to assume the 'Above-Water' world is the same or similar to his own 'Under-Water' home. Because of this, several habits or traits that are common there, Sers tends to assume are common everywhere. For instance, the Charodae people tend to be kinds, gentle, and welcoming to each other. Brawling is not something they do, nor backstabbing, lying, cheating, stealing, and so on. The Charodae are a people that exist as one, because of this, they trust each other without repercussion. Sers, unfortunately, assumes that life on land is no different. He would expect that the other races would be the same, kind, quick to assist and love others, and be trustworthy, so Sers tends to trust just about everyone. Even when the dark truth is revealed, he may have difficulty accepting it was intentional.
Like a child - Sers is almost childlike in the way that he asks questions, sometimes the same ones, over and over. It is more because of being in a new world, to him, is so fascinating, yet so unknown to him. It is in his nature to ask and learn, and because of this, he may seem to possess a child's ignorance. Another thing that may appear childlike is the way that he is always sidetracked by things. You may be talking to him about something only half interesting, and chances are he will be watching a squirrel scurry around a tree or a large red apple hanging in the air.
Benevolent - When Sers lived with the Charodae people, he was known for being extremely kind and gentle. He would go out of his way to assist others, even to the extent that was unnatural for Charodae themselves. This trait he has also been known to carry with him to the surface and into the 'Above-Water' world. Sers will do what he can to help someone, and when he either cannot, or is mistreated even when doing so, could emotionally harm him, as he is not particularly used to hostility.
Gods? - Sers doesn't particularly follow or worship any gods or goddesses, and although he does believe they all exist and rule their domains, he simply does not see the point in favoring one god or goddess, but neglecting another. In Sers's eyes, they are all contributing to the cycle of life and death, war and peace, love and hate. He believes that all things should die and their bodies returned to that which one brought them up. This is again the result of his Charodae lifestyle.
The Common Tongue - The common tongue, though known very well by Sers thanks to a particular friend he met long ago, is still awkward to him. Being born and raised under the see, the Char language does not contain certain words that may be present on land, such as 'paw' or 'dog'. Things that are not common or ever seen under the water have a difficult time existing and being taught in the 'Common' language, as there isn't even ways to match it in their own language. Sers, therefore, speaks in a strange style of 'Common' language. He may consider a dog to be 'creature' or a 'paw' to be a hand or such. Claws may become teeth, because of the general shape shared by the two, and hair may become tiny tentacles. It is also known that Sers does not under stand contractions, thus he will always say "do not", "would not", "have not" rather than "don't", "wouldn't", or "haven't". Strong accents are also difficult for Sers to understand.
Ethics: (Coming soon...) Sers believes that he was blessed with excessive kindness as he was growing up, and because he received more than his fair share, it is his personal duty to in turn return as much as he can to those less fortunate, be it because of health, finances, or sorrow. Sers believes that a short simple solution is hardly ever the correct one however, meaning that giving a homeless man money is not the way to free him from poverty, but to give him something, inspiration, skill, or reason to pull himself out of his troubled state.
Sers Yisa also encourages not to mourn for those who have passed on. This goes to his beliefs, again taught to him when he was younger, that one is raised on the land to grow strong, and dies to return to it to strengthen the land. Although it is only a modified version of how the Charodae view their relationship to their precious coral, it makes sense to him.
Also, the idea of someone never dying, resisting death, etc, makes Sers uncomfortable. Being a strong believer that death is natural and required for life to continue, it bothers him to know that there are those (Nuit and those Marked by Uldr) resist the natural process, the cycle of life. Although Sers would never take it in his own hands to 'enforce' the natural motion of the cycle, he would certainly breathe more easily knowing one more Nuit was permanently put to rest. It's for the greater good.
Likes: (More to come...) Nature's Candy (Fruits), especially apples Cool (Not frigid cold) water, large enough to bathe/swim in Plants/Vegetation, Sers is especially intrigued by plant life Exploration/Education, being naturally curious, Sers cannot contain his love for learning new things, finding new knowledge, etc. Meat, although he cannot eat it, due to Charodae inability to digest, he loves the taste, perhaps because he cannot have it, or is not used to it.
Dislikes: (More to come...) Fire Heat, same reason as fire, it dries out his body quicker, which is built to conserve water. Being unable to assist others. Lying or being lied to Cheating or being cheated against Nuit, their situation seems too unnatural for the Charoda to accept, since he believes death is both natural and necessary for life. |
