Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

The battle for citizenship (Dex)

Treccho was in desperate need of a house not even for shelter he could handle the cold even with only the small flimsy shirt he wore. He didn't even mind sleeping on the street although not very comfortable it wasn't that much different than sleeping in caves something he had become accustomed to while travelling from Abura. He was worried for his personal safety and his belongings. being a creator of art means having to make a lot of stock but Treccho had no where to put any of it nor would he be able to protect any of it form the elements or theives. In order to get citizenship you needed to be proficient in a weapon as ridiculous as that sounds. he was told it was to do with having the ability to protect the town in case ot attack. He didn't know why every citizen needed to help with that surely there were already enough capable warriors in this town. His skills had much to be desired he had practised fighting with a spear before left Abura but he left before becoming particularly skilled.

He entered Kendoka Sasaran the weapon’s training school hoping to improve on his skills. He was thankful that the door was open already so he wouldn't have to struggle with them and embarrass himself. His odd appearance made him the centre of attention as he hovered through the doors. his bright turquoise hair that decorated his head as well as his lower seel half, not to mention his deep sea blue butterfly wings made him a sight to see.
He noticed that everyone was in pairs fighting each other something he didn't feel he was ready for.
He approached the instructor who seemed to be helping to young Akalaks with their form. The Instructor was an 8 feet tall imposing tower of solid dark blue muscle.
"um..excuse me, I'm new here and would like to do some training....If this isn't a good time I can leave." Treccho said timidly
"Were currently sparing right now but when were done I can give you an interview to see how best to train you, in the mean time you grab a practice weapon of your choice and find a partner."
Treccho put down his belongings out of the way and found a wooden practice spear in the rack of weapons. He scanned around for a partner, spotting a human sitting alone on the benches he approached him.
"would you happen to be free to spar with me?"

OOC: There's only one reason why Dex would be alone on a bench. :D

Dex looked up from the bag he'd been curiously examining, setting aside any shiny pieces, including some silver utensils and a few glass beads. The bag of course was not his, but he wanted to make sure that the shiny things in it were appropriately appreciated, in his special care. About to close up the bag and put the shiny objects in his own bag, he was distracted when he was approached by a... What is that? It fluttering.... and flying... and ... and ... a flying man-seal? The closest he'd seen to this person was something called a charoda, which he had yet to firmly recognize as a species. But, this was obviously different, because of the giant butterfly wings.

"Umm, sure, I spar with you!" He said, standing up quickly and tossing off his latest feet warmers. About to walk straight into the sand, he diverted suddenly to the wooden weapon racks, remembering that he needed something. Hmm. What to use now... hmm. Ooh, my very first one, the tamo daggers. Dex grabbed the small wooden club, holding it comfortably in one hand. He walked onto the overly-heated sand for the winter, his toes curling into it, getting a feel of it between his toes, before turning back to his sudden challenger.

"Are those wings breakable? I wouldn't want to break the pretty things. How about your tail? Is that breakable? Are you allergic to fur?"
Dex asked in his typical rapid fire style, while settling into a "stance", that some blue people had tried to teach him. He still stood in it somewhat awkwardly, preferring to be more relaxed.

The battle for citizenship (Dex)

Postby Treccho on January 2nd, 2013, 10:13 pm

Treccho watched curiously as the strange man rifled through a bag that Treccho hoped belonged to the man. The man suddenly stopped looked up at Treccho and gave him a poorly worded response indicating that he would like to spar. Based on his manner of speaking Teccho wondered if the man was a little simple in the head. The strange man walked over to the weapons rack and picked his weapon. he had chosen some kind of club as his weapon of choice and then walked into some strange sand. Treccho took notice that the mans feet were bare, which stuck Treccho as odd considering it was winter until he notice that most of the people in the training school were bare footed. Treccho started to notice that the place was fairly heated, being an Akvatari made him fairly oblivious to temperature.
The man walked back to Treccho and asked him a few very odd questions in a fast jumbled manner. Treccho proceeded to answer them as best he could hoping for very little response but still being polite.
"They are breakable like most body parts but they are not fragile they just look fragile, my tail is fairly sturdy and no I am not allergic to fur" Treccho explained
The man's odd questions and manner of speak made Treccho wonder if maybe this man was some manner of kelvic, he wanted to ask but was afraid the question would cause offence so he held his tongue.
"now would you like to begin with our spar session?" Treccho asked
Treccho quickly looked around for a fairly secluded area and found that the far left corner had very little students to get in their way.
"we can practice over there" Treccho said while indicating with the hand to his desired location
"I'll let you make the first hit and I'll try to block it"
He then flew over the other combatants area he had just pointed to.
when he got to the location he got the staff in two hands angled in way that the "bade" end was level with his shoulders and the other end was level with his lower torso.
The crowd of warriors was making Treccho uncomfortable but was determined to start this fight to get it over with.

Dex smiled at his answers. That meant that he would be able to do more without hurting him. He took the club of the two tamo daggers conjoined into each others hilt and walked over to where the flying man-seal indicated. It was an empty corner of the field, but still close enough to the other pairs that he might get knocked into them at one point or another, which Dex had interesting memories of doing before, but this was the best they were likely to get.

The man-seal gave the inital instructions and gripped his spear in front of himself. Dex raised one eyebrow in curiosity, more used to the "jump into the fight head first" style of the akalaks. Shrugging his shoulders, he took the club of the two daggers and swung it over his head awkwardly at the man-seal, trying to let it crash down on the man-seal and force him towards the ground.

OOCAbout how high are you, body length + floating approximate?

The battle for citizenship (Dex)

Postby Treccho on January 16th, 2013, 3:45 pm

OOCI'm 6 feet tall from head to tail, I was thinking my tail was touching the ground but since I didn't mention it will say I was hovering about a foot in the air. Sorry I didn't clarify
Treccho noticed the look of confusion that went over the man's face at Treccho's request. He quickly looked around and noticed that no one was really in partners; it was more of a free for all with everyone attacking anyone close to them. This realization worried Treccho a bit; he didn't want to fight off to many people off at once especially some of the more seasoned fighters.
The man walked over to Treccho and initiated the fight by swinging his weapon down toward Treccho’s head. Treccho blocked the move fairly easily by raising his spear in front of his head but the force of the move pushed him down towards the floor. He stumbled for a bit but was able to get back to a steady hovering position. He had his tail touching the ground now for more stability so he wouldn’t fall prey to something like that again. When he looked back at his opponent he realized they were at the same height now but he was now much farther away from his opponent.
Treccho swung his spear from the right aiming for the man’s left arm, he was hoping to disarm him or at least make his movements more difficult. There was a fairly large Akvatar with long wooden staff a few feet behind behind the man. Neither of them was facing each other and probably didn’t know of each other’s presence. Treccho was wondering If he should lure them together to distract his opponent, but wasn’t sure if he wanted to resort to dirty tricks.

Dex was pushed back when the man-seal blocked his awkward attack, and then he jumped back farther to avoid getting speared in the arm, sliding a little in the sand, but not falling down. The spear had a long range, and in an arena that was being shared with a bunch of other people, Dex wanted to keep close to their own corner. Besides, his weapon wouldn't work at this far away.

Speaking of the rest of the arena, Dex glanced around the arena closest to him. He saw another man-seal behind him with a wooden staff, who he ignored. The other ones closest to them including two akalaks both using brass knuckles, trying to land punches on each other, their bodies covered in sweat and significant bruises already present on both of them. Some of the other akalaks on the side tossed hot coals in pits on the sides, so that their heat would slowly travel across the sand to warm it.

Dex moved from one side to the other with little leaps, watching the spear end. He crouched down, trying to keep a view of looking up like his ferret form usually did. It was then that he saw the tail touching the ground. Hmm. Dex looked back towards the spear point. Dex reached out to grab the spear by the closest part to him to tug it away from his body while his other hand tried to bash the small wooden club of the combined tamo daggers into the man seal.

The battle for citizenship (Dex)

Postby Treccho on January 18th, 2013, 2:30 pm

OOC>__< I meant to write Akalak, anyway I guess there is another Akvatari in the room... sorry
The Man Dodged his attack with ease, jumping back out of the range of Treccho's wooden spear.
He still wasn't close enough for the other Akvatari to notice, but Treccho's opponent had taken notice of him. Treccho a little surprised he hadn't noticed the other Akvatari when he flew in. Upon closer inspection Treccho realized the other Akvatari wasn't quite as vividly coloured as Treccho was and seemed to be wearing a robe that concealed most of his tail. His wings had more of the properties of moth wings than butterfly wings, and blended into the scenery. Treccho pitied the other Akvatari for how unremarkable he looked but also envied him for blending in so well with his environment.
Treccho brought his attention back to his odd opponent, who was jumping side to side while approaching Treccho again. Treccho prepared his practice spear for the inevitable attack. His opponent lowered himself into a crouching position and looked up at Treccho like a small rodent.
"yup, he's a kelvic alright" Treccho thought to himself.
The Kelvic suddenly grabbed the end of his spear and tried to hit him in the side with his small club with his other hand. Treccho tried to twist his spear so that he could free the end from the Kelvic's grasp, attack the Kelvic and block the attack. The top end went down and deflected the attack and the bottom end shot forward with the attention of hitting kelvic's shoulder.

Whoops. As Dex grabbed and wrestled with the spear, the man-seal spun the spear downward, dropping the tip towards the ground blocking the tamo dagger club while trying to hit his shoulder with the used to be bottom part. It glanced off his shoulder, because of it's awkward grip that Dex had on the middle of the spear. Dex backed up and let it go, wincing lightly at his shoulder, then shaking it out.

He hit me. Dex pulled the club apart into it's proper arrangement of two thin wooden blades, which Dex held in a backward grip, the points aimed behind him. After some work with the tamo daggers before, Dex realized that he could use them like claws with them backwards. So Dex did just that, jumping from one side to the other and then jumping on the man-seal, trying furiously to claw down on the man-seal with the somewhat dulled dagger tips.

OOCSorry about the late and short reply. Should get better next post.

The battle for citizenship (Dex)

Postby Treccho on January 30th, 2013, 4:44 pm

"I hit him!" he thought gleefully. This outcome was not something that Treccho imagined would happen as he knew he was certainly not a capable warrior. It wasn't a very lethal hit it would have merely gashed the kelvics arm a bit. Probably wouldn't even limit the movement in the arm, but Treccho was still proud of this accomplishment. His pessimistic attitude was fading a bit and he was stating to enjoy this fight, not by much but he didn't view it as an annoying choir anymore.

The Kelvic had taken his weapon apart to reveal two wooden daggers inside.
"this is getting interesting" Treccho thought.
The Kelvic held the daggers backwards and seemed to treat them as if they were his claws. It made Treccho wonder if this Kelvic was maybe a feline... he knew this question was going to bug Treccho the whole fight. The Kelvic did his bouncing back and forth in a zig zag before pouncing in the air. The kelvic came down with both his daggers and Treccho raised his spear in and attempt to deflect them. Treccho managed to keep most of the attack at bay but still got kicked by both of the dull blades in each of his shoulders.
"aAhh!" Treccho yelped a bit in pain as he forced the Kelvic off him with a push of his spear.
Treccho didn't have a very high tolerance for pain and although it wasn't a very damaging attack by any standards Treccho wasn't happy about it.

The Other Akvatari heard the dramatic yelp and drew his attention too the kelvic behind him. Having just beaten his opponent he was looking for another one and the kelvic seemed to be the closest to him. Be fore Treccho could make a counter attack the Moth coloured Akavatari seemed to beat him too it. The Akvatari made a loud battle cry before swinging his staff at the kelvic.
Oocdon't worry about it, stuff happens. I hope you don't mind me adding the other Akvatari into the mix. Treccho will get jealous and help you fight him, so you won't be ganged up on
