No Dhani has managed yet to elucidate the mystery of Vvesebeth's exquisite beauty. Perhaps it is due to the mesmerizing power of her translucent scales. Perhaps it is her penetrating gaze, enhanced by the golden mark above her left eye when she is in snake form which translate into a golden streak on her left eyebrow in human form. Either way, Beth's beauty is legendary among all serpents, and so is the tragedy she bears on her back: when her favourite lover Shiisehzvwardi -- and father to her only child Bethsyliss -- was taken away from her by constrictor Dhani in 422 AV to become a slave, her face was maimed and she blinded herself in order not to have to witness the ugliness she now saw in the world and on her once-perfect face. Despite that accident, the viper Dhani still respect her and many of them are still attracted to her, as she seems not to age as the decades go by. Her daughter Syliss, which she cherished as much as the memory of Zvwardi, attended to her needs until the Winter of year 512, when she left the nest promising to avenge her family.
Before blinding herself, Vvesebeth was a frivolous woman who experimented liberally with all of life's excesses, including the many intimate ways two beings could give each other pleasure and the frequent use of aphrodisiac substances, among other activities. She was often impulsive, listening to her urges rather than considering moral values. Though she may have liked the people she had her fun with, there was only one to whom she was emotionally faithful and whom she deeply loved, Zvwardi. He had been her first mate and had impregnated her. After giving birth to Syliss she took drugs to permanently neutralize her reproductive system. After her self-mutilation, Beth became a lot less light-minded, though she occasionally did enjoy the extreme passions life had to offer; as if her withdrawal from the physical world of vision granted her to see things that other mortals could not -- which is the reason she was designated as an adviser for decisions in the nest. Shiisehzvwardi is the victim of the tragedy that befell the viper nest in the early summer of the year 422. Up until that day, he had been three different things. First, he was the tactical leader of the Eyktol Dhani. He had never really been appointed as so, but rather naturally came to fit that role. His assertive sense of command when in a group and aggressive tactics made him prone to the job. Secondly, he was the favorite lover of the beautiful Vvesebeth, jewel of the nest, for which he prided himself. A tall Dhani with a huge flaring hood and rather muscular build for a viper, he was the first to win her heart. He was aware of Beth's many lovers, but was not jealous, since most Dhani females had many lovers anyway and he knew he was the only one she loved. Thirdly, he was the father of Bethsyliss, his daughter with Beth. That third role he only fulfilled during six years before the constrictor Dhani captured him during a raid on the vipers' nest in the Burning Lands of Eyktol and took him all the way to their underground nest, Zinrah, in the jungles of Falyndar.
Zvwardi is a viper in all respects. He enjoys satisfying his lust, he revels in fights, and he absolutely can't resist the temptation of torturing someone he isn't fond of. While this helped him thrive at the top of viper society, among the constrictors he is a most troublesome slave and won't hesitate to thrust a dagger between someone's shoulderblades if he so happens to come across one.
