Nefertari - The Blood Rose of Ahnatep Appearance Race: Eypharian Gender: Female Age: 24 Birthday: 78th of Summer 488 Birthplace: Ahnatep Appearance: Tall and slim, with a delicate figure, Nefertari is blessed with an excellent bone structure, high cheekbones, severe nose and a strong jaw, which gives her what could be considered androgynous features, but her pulpous lips, long lashes and large eyes make her completely otherwise, very elegant and feminine, almost fragile. Her dark hair is cut short because of the hot weather and to highlight her features, and gives her a very vulnerable and whimsical face. Some people would consider her beautiful, but not ordinarily so, for her nose is a little large and not exactly straight aquiline. Character Concept :

Nefertari is not exactly mean-spirited or horrid, but because of the way she was brought up and the attention she has been frequently used to, she may seem spoilt, selfish and vain to many people with a fundamental belief in her own superiority. She has skill in Auristics, which she uses in order to generate an income, with the desire to develop her talent in Magecrafting, and initiate some in Animation and potentially Hypnotism. When she was younger, she was always fascinated with magic, but had no desire to turn to it or any leaning towards it until she was 22, when she discovered auristics which has since become of great comfort to her in a number of matters. Nefertari keeps a couple of slaves, which were captured by her husband on his travels - Ammon and Ramila - and though she can be cruel to both, especially Ramila, there are days when she sees them more as friends, and Ammon is in fact her secret lover. Nefertari adores her two children (Thaedra and Vasilis) and is terrified of losing them, for anything, especially after the death of Sanjiaki, but her relationship with her husband is decidedly cool, even though when they were first married, she believed herself very much in love with him and had to suffer from unrequited feelings. Character History
Born into a family of merchants of Perfume Merchants in the Gilded Ranks of Ahnatep Society, the sixth of seven children and the only daughter, Nefertari was brought up to a life of relative luxury, at any rate much better than that of much of her contemporaries, surrounded by a lot of love and kindness. She got on very well with her family, especially with all her brothers who were very protective of her and spoilt her, as the only girl. Her parents did not have slaves, being against the institution, but because of the way almost everything was done for her by her parents, brothers and a number of paid servants and because of the way in which Nefertari had been likewise brought up to believe in her fundamental superiority to most of the rest of Mizhar, and indeed Ahnatep, she herself never had any issue with such a thing. By the age of fifteen, she was already being taken notice of, a thing which she did and always would greatly enjoy, and received her first offer of marriage from one of her parent's trade associates. She was not ready for it, and was dissuaded completely from it by her brothers, Arkadiy and Zakhar, and though her parents tried to convince her it was advantageous, she whole-heartedly refused, although with no small element of teasing, a factor that marked many of the subsequent proposals made towards her. She held out for the next two years until her parents were eventually approached by a member of the House of the East Winds who thought she would make a good addition to their household by marrying one of the less important young members, Taruki. Nefertari married into the fringes of the House of the East Winds, but although she married above her status and had much to gain from the match, she found her new husband to be distant and cool, often leaving her alone for months while she was desperate to please him. Almost in reaction, having never had qualms on the subject before and taking the opportunity, she started buying slaves and, as her husband stayed away, she became more lonely and bitter and, almost without realising, started being quite verbally abusive for no reason, beating her slaves for disobedience and keeping them under poor living conditions. Eventually, she became less so, and even took one for a lover (Ammon, a Benshira) finding him intelligent, warm, handsome and having a skill rivalling her own in auristics. A couple of years ensued like this, where she never really saw her husband, then finally he came home and announced that due to the great amount of money he had lost on a business, he had been demoted in the East Wind Hierarchy and they would have to move into a smaller lodgings and lose all but a couple of slaves. Nefertari was initially resistant at first, more than unwilling to leave the beautiful quarters in the Palace of the East Winds they had together, with its mosaic floors in the courtyards, gilded walls, rich furnishing numerous bedrooms and a dozen or so slaves. Finally, she gave in when he promised that they would live together as man and wife, and that he would not go away for periods longer than a couple of weeks ever again. It all went well for about another couple of years and she gave birth to a baby girl, then twin boys. Almost as soon as this happened, Taruki disappeared again and she was left quite lonely for companionship from someone her own age, although she lived surrounded by many other members of the House of the East Winds and visited friends and family as much as she could, dragging her children with her. She took up her relationship with Ammon again and, with her three children, they lived almost like a family, in secret (in spite that she was constantly surrounded by her husband's family) Unfortunately, when all was going relatively well, one of her sons died, drowning while unsupervised in a pool of water in one of the many courtyards of the palace. Her husband came back, once again, for the funeral and became more cold and distant than ever. Nefertari became quite reckless, openly attached to Ammon and spending more money than they had, mainly on clothing, jewels, perfume and slaves, as a way of dealing with it. By this point, aged twenty-four and seven years into her marriage, she realised that she felt trapped and very frightened for her future, with no way out. Has one of the smallest upstairs bedrooms owned by family in the East Wind Palace. She shares it with her husband and it is furnished very sparsely... her two children share the room next door with their two slaves, Ammon and Ramila, on reed mattresses on the floor. Entrances to the two rooms and the wood screened windows face one of the inner courtyards. Both rooms have a chest for belongings, a large polished copper mirror, a standing basin, an ornamented bench, beds (a bed and a cot in the children's rooms and a large double bed in her and her husband's room) and a brazier for heat.
