Age: 20
Birthday: 17, Summer, 492

Appearance: At 5'10", Arch isn't particularly tall and has a healthy weight of 150lbs. He has fine black hair that he keeps short and has medium shoulders. In the right light one can see deep green highlights within his hair. He does have shimmering green eyes that belies his mother's Vantha heritage but beyond their striking color he has not acquired their ability to change. He seems young for his age, this often leads him to be called "boy" or some other word for youth. His skin is toned with an olive tint and it is very obvious that he has taken after his mother more then his father.

Character Concept
Nenkasai Archibal, or Arch as many call him, isn't a fighter. He is a scholar, a tinkerer, a trouble magnet, and much more but a fighter isn't one of them. Beyond some skill with a crossbow he just doesn't hold up well in a fight. This is mostly because he avoids fights as best he can. He abhors confrontation and in a world such as he finds himself, it isn't an easy matter to do. As such, he tends to be a bit reclusive. He isn't shy persay, but just doesn't like being in public or going to social gatherings.

He can sometimes come off as arrogant when one talks to him but this is mostly because he doesn't socialize often and spends most of his time studying or tinkering around with odd gizmos. If one gets to know him better they learn it isn't intentional and that he's actually fairly kind but tends to over think what he wants to say and ends up either saying too much or the wrong thing. The only person he has ever truly felt comfortable around was his childhood friend back in the north.

For all his desire to just be left alone, he has something he needs to do. That is exploring history and uncovering new ruins and finding lost relics of the past. He has inherited his parents profession as an archaeologist and has very strong feelings about continuing their work and figuring out where they went. To this, he often joins funded expeditions to various places to study ruins and learn more, perhaps even find a clue to what his parents were doing and what happened to them.

Character History
Archibal's history begins in the frozen city of Avanthal. His father was a young explorer and archaeologist and was on a trip to study some ruin of those lands. He was part of an exhibition to study the history lost there. He was adventurous and charming for a young man. His exotic qualities are what made him so attractive to Nen's mother.

She was a member of the Coolwater hold and was captivated by stories of strange lands and foreign cultures. Her favorite book was the adventures of Kenabelle Wright and the first non-vanthas to visit Avanthal. She longed to follow in that woman's footsteps and explore the entire world. She was always greeting foreigners and would often hang out around them.

It came as no surprise that the two grew fond of each other. After the expedition Arch's father stayed in Vantha due to mutual love. He became a part of the Coolwater Hold having married and soon after Nenkasai Archibal Coolwater was born.

Being half Vantha made things difficult for Arch in his youth. He didn't share many of the traditional characteristics as other young Vantha. He was treated well enough by the grownups but children his own age tended to tease him for his differences. His lack of eye coloration changing was of particular note. He felt quite isolated and alone for a time until he made his first friend.

Her name was Cait Frostfawn. They met when Arch bit off more then he could handle. Having had enough teasing one day he said some particularly enlightening words to a group of boys that were picking on him. They didn't take kindly to it and started to beat him up. Cait stepped in and with mother oh but a stick managed to beat them off Arch and became his rescuer. They became the best of friends after that.

Arch was never very good at fighting and for whatever reason, Cait took it upon herself protect him. When Arch wasn't busy studying with his parents he was always found with Cait doing something, often getting into trouble. It was this way for most of Arch's childhood but one day he had to leave his home in Avanthal.

His parents had only stayed in the frozen city until Nenkasai had reach an age that he could travel with them. His parents had big dreams of being explorers and discover new ruins. Their wonderlust couldn't be contained in such an isolated city. So when Archibal was in his early teens they left as a family to pursue their Archaeological dreams.

This was not anything Nenkasai wanted at the time. He was forced to say goodbye to his best friend. They promised to meet each other again at a later time but it was not to be. After Arch and his parents left they never returned. This was because tragedy struck his parents deep in the deserts of the Eyktol region.

The events leading up to his parent's disappearance would be etched into his mind forever. They had made it to the far southern region without incident. In fact, they even managed to save the life of one of the native people called Epyharians. The rescued individual was about to die when they first found him and they took him into their tent and healed him, fed him, and restored his health. It turned out he was a prominent member of a city call Ahnatep. He led them to the city in which he purchased them a house as thanks for saving him.

They settled in nicely but soon discovered that most of the Epyharians did not like them. It was evident that strong racist attitudes gripped the proud people found here, with the exception of a few that were related to or was good friends with the one who's life they saved. Still, it wasn't lost on the people that they had saved one of their own so they tolerated their presence and tended to just leave them be. That was fine with Arch's parents as they planned to spend a lot of time abroad in the desert ruins found around the region.

Things became weird after their first sojourn. They took Archibal with them on their first trip to the ruins but it was cut very short. Arch knew something was up as they were talking in hushed tones anxious obviously keeping something from him. His suspicions were confirmed when they left him in the care of the Epyharians on their next trip. Soon, they were gone often and returned looking exhausted, stressed, and obsessed with something. They had discovered something, something either extremely valuable or extremely dangerous.

The last time he saw them was in the morning of his fifteenth birthday. They gave him one gift, a journal. They told him to keep it safe and that when he could read it that he would understand it's value. They told him not to let anyone else read it and always keep it secured upon his person if he could. They left midday for the last time he saw them.

Weeks passed, and then months, on the first day of the fourth month they were gone the Epyharian that was saved came to visit Arch. He informed him that something must have happened to his parents and that he was told if they didn't return in three months that they would like him to take care of Arch until he was of age. It was his duty to due so as he still felt he owed them much.

Arch didn't take well to the sudden change. He was already a very shy boy. Being teased for his differences both with the Vantha and the Epyharian children had made him...difficult to get to know. With his parents disappearance he became extremely reclusive. He spent all his time studying, learning, and experimenting at home. He didn't venture out except when he needed to. When he was eighteen he had to find work to afford his own living. He had tremendous skills as an archaeologist so he often sought work in that field.

He was really focused on his work as he wanted to know what was in the journal, he wanted to know what happened to his parents. He knew the clues were in Eyktol but he needed to find them. His parent's bodies were never found either, secretly he hoped they were still alive somewhere, somehow. He is now twenty, a competent Archaeologist himself now. Whenever an expedition is getting started he is often recommended as an assistant. He still has far to go but his journey is starting to take shape.

The thick book is written in the ancient tongue of Nader-Conoch but Nen can only understand a few words of what is written. There is undoubtedly valuable information inside but until Nen can learn how to read Nader-Conoch fluently it is a mystery to him.
