[Frostfawn Hold] What a dull day...or is it?

25th, Spring, 513AV

Jaden tapped her fingers against the wooden floor. Her nails starting to leave dents in the wood as she sat, leaning against the wall in utter boredom. How long have I been here? She questioned, running her fingers through her dark hair straightening out an friz that might have formed since the last time she checked before going back to her tapping. This morning had started out like an other, she had woke to the sun rising up over the snow. The still quiet of the morning air gently greeting her as she stretched, eyes still sealed shut trying their best to avoid the inevitable, waking. Still with a few encouraging speeches to herself Jaden threw her feet over her small bed, causing the frame to creak under her, before dropping to cool floor below. Dressing in her normal attire of boots, a navy blue shirt, her long thick hide coat, and, of course, her handmade headband she started off the day. Shuffling over to her brother Vindur rustling his white fur to assist in waking his sleeping form. When she was greeted with a growl rather than a morning lick, she thought it best to let him sleep in. Just this once. Besides she still had to go through her morning exercises. First she had to run around; get the blood pumping so she might keep warm. Next was target practice, a few rounds of bows aimed at certain spots in the snow or at a log usually did the trick. Finally, a peaceful place to sit and mediate on her morning activities; Jaden usually used this time to thank Mowen for all that she had blessed her with in the time passed. She felt as though this was the only real time of the day that she could connect with the Goddess of Winter.

Once completing her morning routine she rushed to her room, wrestling with Vindur whom was only just starting to wake, happily kissing his muzzle as she spoke. "Today's going to be fun brother, I just know it," and here she sat. It had been several hours since the time she woke up, and still nothing had come to her. Sure, a few ideas came to her mind, she should go out and finds some plants to study, maybe going fishing might be fun. Or perhaps a trip to the library to read might do her the most beneficial good, a lass as fast as these thoughts came to her mind just as quickly she rejected them. Jaden felt rather unambitious to say the least, here she was letting the day waste away while she could be making good use of her time, better use than defacing the common area's floor. Shifting her gaze from the window she spotted Vindur his long white body stretched out across the rug, eyes closed and mouth fixed in a blissful smile. Jaden couldn't help but laugh, how she wished she could be like Vindur; waste a day doing nothing more than relaxing and, or sleeping. It must be a nice feeling to have no cares like that. Or maybe it was because brother was always content with the lifestyle he lived, not overly adventurous and not too laid back either.

Pushing the thought aside Jaden straightened taking a moment to evaluate the situation before deciding the thing she should do might as well be productive. Standing up she shuffled back to her room, looking as dull and unsatisfied as she could muster; her eyes settling to a deep brown coloration. Rummaging through her things she found the pan flute she had been searching for, cleaning the dust off the wood pipes she returned to the common area. Taking a seat next to Vindur she wet her lips flexing the jaw muscles several times before giving a simple huff downward sending out a dull sound from the flute. Vindur's ears pricked, his head raising for one moment to look at Jaden before huffing and settling back in against her. Taking that as a sign to continue Jaden began playing a simple song she'd learned as a child, the melody generally happy. Doing her best to keep her mouth moving over the right pipes she found herself slowly getting the hang of it. Wondering just how long it had been since she had played.

[Frostfawn Hold] What a dull day...or is it?

Postby Levhanti on April 10th, 2013, 5:59 pm

Today had been an easy day. There had been very little work to do in the morning aside from the regular grooming of the horses. No horses needed to be ridden, and only a few needed to be worked at all in the morning. There was still work to be done in the afternoon, but there was a nice long lunch break in between. Granted it was a long break with absolutely nothing to do, but Levhanti was good at finding ways to amuse himself.

And that was what brought him walking past the common room at such an odd time of the day. He wasn't really expecting too many people around, and the sound of music being played drew him in immediately. He leaned against the opening, watching a girl playing the pan flute. She was not doing a bad job by any means. Much better than Levhanti could do at any rate. Levhanti had always enjoyed music, and was kinda disappointed he had no talent for it.

Levhanti waited silently for a pause to start clapping. Just a little.

"That was very good. How long have you been playing?"

Levhanti was slightly afraid of scaring the girl, but it was creepy to stand outside a room and watch a woman for any reason, so he picked the lesser of two evils. At least, he thought it was.

The sound of someone clapping startled Jaden, her eyes growing wide turning bright yellow, while her body jerked up in surprise. Glancing to the door she noticed a someone standing in it, his hair shining tints of green against his black hair. Giving a soft almost relieved laugh Jaden gave Vindur a pat on the head, the white sled dog standing at attention looking at the man that dare to bother his slumber.

"Not terribly long I'm afraid, I was taught somewhere along the ages of five and six. Of course back than I wanted very little to do with this and more to do with my grandfathers horses. Do you play?" she smiled to him. Adjusting her headband once more, before offering her hand to him.

"Jaden by the way. What's yours?" Jaden did her best to contain her excitement at seeing someone walking around the halls this time of day. It had been too boring this morning for her taste and making a possible new friend might help to even out the day for her.

Levhanti was a little surprised as the large dog stood after being disturbed by his clapping. He had overlooked the dog when he first entered the room. Looking more closely, he recognized the dog as a Zypherian sled dog. He had seen the dogs before around the hold, but he had no real dealings with them. Levhanti looked at the girl, smiling when he realized she wasn't mad at him for scaring her.

"No, sadly, I have no musical talent. But I do enjoy music very much. My name is Levhanti."

Levhanti reached out and took the girl's hand, shaking it gently. He flashed her one more smile before turning his attention to the dog. He couldn't introduce himself to Jaden and not to her companion. Levhanti crouched down and extended his hand outwards towards the dog, watching it carefully.

"Hello there. You are very handsome, you know that? What is your name?"

He knew the dog would not be able to answer his questions, but perhaps Jaden would be kind enough to answer for him.

[Frostfawn Hold] What a dull day...or is it?

Postby Alexandra on April 13th, 2013, 12:14 am

OOCHope you don't mind another person showing up here.

Alexandra was still getting used to life within Frostfawn Hold, it was certainly far different than any other place she had lived. Like all places in Avanthal it was cold, though if she had not wished for cold she shouldn't have come to the city of always winter. Within the halls of the hold it was less cold but still she wrapped herself in her thick robes, pulling the tightly to her as she walked.

The young woman supposed she should be grateful for being granted living space here in the hold, and she was. The hold had been nothing if not welcome to her, despite her foreign ancestry, saving the life of one of their hunters had apparently earned their respect. Still Alex couldn't help feel like a stranger in these halls, like she didn't belong here, like she was an outsider in another's home.

The woman shook her head slightly at the thought, If the Frostfawn did not want me here they would not have invited me to live here, She reasoned.

Of course they didn't know who she really was, or rather what she was. Magic was generally frowned upon in most cultures she had encountered, most people usually saw it as trouble or even evil. Being a child of two wizards Alex did not view it as such, to her magic was a tool, a dangerous tool to the foolish or inexperienced but a tool none the less. With any luck no one would be the wiser as to her practices, Flux was not the most obvious of disciplines after all.

The sound of music reached the young woman ears from up ahead, it was a soft melody, almost tentative and unsure. It was a good tune, simple but pleasant. Definitely a flute of some kind if Alex was to be the judge of things.

Curious, the young woman approached the source of the music, which had stopped during a pause due to a soft applause. She happened upon a scene of two individuals greeting each other in a door way, one a black haired man shorter than herself, the other a black haired girl Alex judged to be about her own age. A soft smile found its way to the young woman's features as she slowly walked up to them, they looked friendly enough.

As she approached Alex decided it best to call upon her limited control of Vani, as the pair were most likely natives. It was only polite to use their native language after all.

"Greetings, sorry for any interruption, I was merely wondering who was playing the flute around here. Was it one of you two?" Alex said in her halting command of Vani, her expression as serene as ever.
