two birds, no stone

She didn't flinch when Khida changed right in front of her; why should she? She just brushed her hair, smoothing it out. She took the fur cloak from the girl, shrugging it around her shoulders and pulling her hair from underneath it.

"Put on sandals. And cloak." Imala handed her the wool cloak, dyed black to absorb as much heat from the Synaslight as possible. "It's cold outside, we're not staying here. Want to brush your hair?" She offered the brush to the falcon girl. Not that she needed to brush her hair, but she wasn't used to company, and she wasn't used to automatically liking someone. It was their connection of them both being bird Kelvic, probably.

Imala liked birds. All kinds. The glassbeaks (which were scary, but she could move among them without a problem), hawks, falcons, songbirds, and her robin Kelvic of a father. She held nothing against them, even though the Plainstriders refused to tell her who her parents were. Only what they had been, and that they were dead. One from a hunting accident, and one from old age. She didn't care.

"We can be friends."

That made sense. It was a mystery what the other Kelvic intended they do outside, but she would need the clothes. "What are we doing?" Khida asked, as she bent to slip the sandals onto her feet. They were similar to ones she had worn in Ahnatep, which she found surprising, given the overall differences between that culture and this.

She took the black cloak and draped it around her shoulders, in place of the fur. At the offer of a brush, Khida shook out her hair, pulling some of the dark strands forward to study them closely. "A little," she affirmed, accepting the brush. She examined it for a moment, then ran it through her hair on all sides before handing it back.

Friends, Imala said. Khida blinked at her a moment, then nodded briefly. "Okay."

Additional Notes :
Hey, Imala, if you ever come back, lemme know and I'll release your grade!

Meh, this really didn't come to much, but it did make me smile reading Khida's reactions to such affection and friendliness. Pretty much how an animal would react, which makes sense considering she's a Kelvic. Not other critique necessary; you know how to write, love.
