While Sylira is by far the most civilized region of Mizahar, countless surprises and encounters await the traveler in its rural wilderness. Called the Wildlands, Syliran's wilderness is comprised of gradual rolling hills in the south that become deep wilderness in the north. Ruins abound throughout the wildlands, and only the well-marked roads are safe.

[Shelter 159] Cleaning Up; Wizard-Style

Timestamp: 4th of Fall, 509 AV
Location: Shelter #159, Zeltiva outskirts
Purpose: Cleaning house, Summoning & Glyphing practice

Voco made his way down the main corridor of what he had claimed as his home for the time being. An ancient pre-Valterrian structure, an Alehean evacuation shelter, which was also the location he woke up in without the majority of his memories nearly two months ago. He had woken up in a room filled with gore. Finely cut and diced remains of two humans, from what he could tell. If the Pycon had a stomach and gag reflex, he was sure he would not be able to enter the room. Thankfully he did not.

The door remained closed. He still could not open it on his own, though he had been considering various methods to go about the task. He imagined he would have to hire someone within Zeltiva to design some sort of apparatus that would allow him to do so. For the time being though, he could simply squeeze under the very tight framing of the door. Before he did that, the Pycon stopped at the door and looked at the base of it.

In front of the door, on the floor of the corridor and stretching from one wall to the other, was a line of Glyphs. Glyphs he had drawn, in his own particular manner, using fine lines drawn with clay from his own body. It was a simple structure, a barrier in a vauge sense, tied to a simple focus and trigger. Designed after an apprentice's exercise, one meant to preserve items like books, he had instead sealed the room from decay. Or atleast Voco hoped he had managed to do such, in the least staving off rot and putrification.

The first thing he did was place both of his hands on two Glyphs that were on either side of the focus, horizontal to the door. Glyphs, that in his mind represented Akajia and Aquiras. Goddess of Secrets, and God of Doors, respectively. They were also two of the three gods he would speak prayers to. He often used them and Qalaya in his rituals and work. "Akajia, praise to you for keeping this door secret, and its contents unknown to the outside world. Aquiras, I thank you for keeping this door secure, for allowing no travel to disturb its contents." The Pycon then consciously absorbed the clay that made the two Glyphs.

After that, Voco turned his gaze to the trigger. A simple affair, but required to safely release the pressure that had built up against barrier. He placed his hand on the small Glyph and then absorbed it, thus releasing the Djed stored within the barrier and focus. Then it was a simple manner of being tidy and cleaning up the rest of the Glyphs, though they no longer served any purpose. Once that was done, the Pycon formed an image in his mind and then willed his body flat. Flatter, even flatter still. Flat enough so that it no longer resembled any normal moving form, and squirmed its way underneath the door. He then slowly rebuilt his form from his mind's image, building the clay upwards. Features, though dull and plain formed, and his hands with their fine dexterous fingers were the last to be created. Voco wiggled the fingers once formed, and then surveyed the bloody carnage that was still present in what he had taken to calling "The Test Chamber".

The first task was finding a location within the chamber that would allow him to draw a circle of his own. While there were many things he did not remember, there were others that he still retained. His knowledge of Anashis was one of them. He simply knew that there would be carrion creatures, something that would find the room and its present state a bountiful feast. He still wasnt sure how he knew that information, but he did, and ultimately that was all that mattered for the task at hand.

As the Pycon proceded to walk about the outer edges of the room in search of a clean section of floor, he considered the design and attributes of the circle he would use. Instantly, the form of a 5-Circle materialized within his mind. It was something his fingers knew how to draw by memory, similar to Glyphing his own name. It was familiar, comftorable, powerful and well suited to the task he had in mind. His skill with Glyphing could be used in a prominent fashion with such a circle, allowing him to fine tune the parameters of the structure and the Djed that would course through it. Finally he found a corner of the room that no blood or bits of gore had reached, and started tracing out a circle.

Voco had a significant amount of practice, drawing what would be considered perfect circles, without the use of any tools or mechanical means. Most certainly having to do with the transient nature of his body and the iron-clad will that was required to maintain it's shape, he had an innate sense of distance and size. He quickly drew a circle that was a little over 3 feet in diameter, which was the largest he could draw without intersecting the wall or any unsavory materials. He was thankful for the fact that the floor of this chamber appeared to be made of a single massive peice of stone, as he did not have to worry about seams in the stone and gaps in the circle. Once he was satisified with the outside line of the circle, he stepped into the center and surveyed what would become his canvas.

Every Summoner had their own process, just as any painter, writer or Alchemist had theirs. Between each discipline, and most certainly within, every practicioner was unique in how they went about their business. Despite Voco's plain exterior, and often aloof atitude, he was an almost chronic indulger of incantions, and what some might call pagantry. "Four. Eight. One. Zero. Zero. Three. Nine. Three. One. Five. Five. Seven. Two. Seven. Zero. One." The Pycon chanted the numbers in Nader-Conch, the Ancient tongue, as he walked the circle. Again, just as drawing the base circle was "muscle" memory, so was his process of drawing the sixteen sub-circles that held the coordinates of Anashis. He would do a complete circuit of the outer circle, and then stop at the first number. He would draw its minor circle, the edge of it just barely out of reach of the main circle. Voco proceded to do this until all sixteen minor circles were drawn. He then repeated the process, drawing the numbers as represent by his own unique Glyphing style.

All of his Glyphs, except for his own name, were represented by a complex mesh of interesecting straight lines at various 90-degree angles. His tiny fingers were well suited to drawing them using a minimal amount of his own clay, thus not requiring him to use any other sorts of materials. It also allowed him to invest a miniscule amount of Djed in even the most basic of components that made up the circle. What would result was a creation that was "Greater then the sum of its parts". While it allowed him to make incredibly detailed and powerfully augmented circles, his time-span with such a portal was limited. And, once the circle was opened and close, all of the glyphs would have to be redrawn if he wanted a similar effect.

Once the numbers were in place, Voco once more walked to the center of the circle and surveyed his work. He carefully went over each Glyphed number, checking that it was correct and that nothing touched each other. Very little wasted space, but no possibilities of a mutated Glyph. He then proceded to draw the inner-circle, the circle that did physically connect to the sixteen number circles at the inner-most edge of them. Once that was complete, he also drew the center-circle, the one that would ultimately form the portal itself. Then the pentagon around the inner-circle, carefully measured within his mind. The pentagon would hold the most important Glyphs, the one that would allow him some control over what might enter and what wouldnt. The pentagon would serve to hold in the Djed of those Glyphs, and not allow the outside Glyphs to interfer with the portal as it opened. There was then another larger circle that encompassed the pentagon.

From there, it was a long and laborious process of drawing the necessary coordinate connection lines to form the 5-Circle. Similar to an 8-Circle, but connecting every single coordinate, he started with the first number and then proceded to connect every 5th coordinate, until he reached back to where he started. What resulted was an almost dizzying kalaidescope of interesecting lines and geometric shapes. And each and every space within those intersecting lines would be filled in with a Glyph. Voco gave a mental sigh, the weariness already setting in as he started on the task of drawing the Glyphs that would give shape to the conditions he would attempt to impose upon the portal.

While Voco was no adept, he was neither a beginner when it came to Glyphing. He knew how to construct the Glyphs to better support the circle, and he had an innate familiarity and skill with drawing them. Despite all of that, and even though the 5-Circle was only 3 feet in diameter, it still took the Pycon what seemed like the better part of a day to construct all of them.

Predominate among all the Glyphs, were two different ones. First and for most, was Rozas, or the description of death. The taste, the smell, the sight, of death. After that, Chalu, food. Voco had a knowledgeable understanding of Nader-canoch, and was more adept at writing the unwritten language then he was speaking it. The Pycon could attach, blend and seam together different Glyphs, and in effect form written sentences that looked like single, very complex Glyphs. While they did not become more powerful by do that, they did allow him to be more specific. The entire point of the Glyphs he drew was to try and draw forth a creature that he simply [i]knew[/] to be. A carrion creature, one that would live on Anashis. Low to the ground like most other creatures, nearly blind, and with a powerful sense of smell. He intended to entice such a creature into the circle, with the promise of food. And at the same time, he used other Glyphs to try and ward other creatures away, making it seem as if they would be eaten and die if they were to cross. It was a tricky balance, but Voco believed he had managed it. He hoped he had, at the least. Investing this much Djed into the Glyphs within the circle was a taxing process. The little Pycon was nearly tapped out by the time finished the last Glyph.

He stepped outside of the circle, at all times being careful to not smudge or disturb anything, going so far as to morph his feet to leave smaller footprints. From outside, he surveyed the finished circle. It was an impressive feat, and had taken almost a full day to complete the process. But already, the Djed invested into the first drawings was starting to fade. With no active focus to hold the energy contained, it would not last much longer without the final drop of Djed to start the chain reaction. To rip open a hole to Anashis, and hopefully summon the creature that he wished to. For a brief moment after thinking about all the, the Pycon wondered if perhaps there might have been a better method of cleaning the room. But no, he thought, his chosen course served multiple purposes. To confirm what he knew in his mind to be true, that he was a Summoner, a Glypher, a Wizard. It would also clean the room in a rather unique fashion. How many other Pycons might be able to say that they had done what he had?

Once he was satisfied with the results, he looked for a small piece of gore. He could not truly identify what it was, but it was still bloody, and most certainly not alive. He then placed it in the very center of the inner circle, and once more stepped outside the construct. "Akajia, I open this portal to remove the veils that have been placed upon my memories. Qalaya, I open this portal to confirm what is in my mind. Aquiras, I open this portal in your name." With those words, the Pycon willed almost all of the remaining Djed within his body to the tip of his right index finger. Once it gathered, he then simply severed the finger from his body. The clay digit fell and landed on the outer circle.

Multiple things started to happen the moment of impact. Voco started to regrow the finger. The stone surface of the chamber within the circle started to shimmer, and then became an opaque gray watery like substance. The liquid started to swirl, faster and faster, forming a vortex. A bright flash appeared within the liquid, a loud clap of thunder following close behind, and a sudden gust of foggy wind appeared within the chamber.

A moment after that, a squat four-legged shape rose from the center of the vortex. The creature was surrounded by a murky-gray aura, the color like old ashes. Its shape was similar to a wolverine, but the legs not as long, the head flatter and muzzle longer. It had tiny beady eyes that seemed to look, but not see. However, at the end of the snout was nose with large slitted nostrils. That nose was flaring as it sniffed the air. Almost instantly once it was fully out of the vortex, the creature turned towards the piece of gore within the circle and opened its mouth. That mouth was full of small, but almost certainly very sharp teeth. It took the piece of meat into its mouth, chewed once and then swallowed it whole. It then let out a peculiar keening noise, sniffed again, and moved towards the edge of the circle. It sniffed again, its nose nearly touchy the edge of the boundary. The creature then pressed its nose against the barrier created by the circle and let out another keening noise. The creature then started to travel the circle, perhaps attempting to find a way out.

All the while, Voco stood in the corner of the room and watched the creature. As it ate the piece of gore, the Pycon smiled. "Wonderful. Now... what to call you? You certainly need a name, if I am to put you to work. Roza-chalut? Death-eater? Yes... that will do nicely. Well then, Roza-chalut, how would you like a feast?"
