Character ConceptJaina is a travelling Reimancer who grew up in a trading post near Lhavit. She never knew her parents, and was instead raised by an elderly story teller whom was also the one to teach her the core of her knowledge. She is a very intelligent girl with a vibrant personality, and a desire to help those in need. This, coupled with a strong curiosity of the mysteries of the world has led her towards a nomadic life. She enjoys nature, and can be very resourceful although she desperately lacks any real combat prowess due to her small frame. Another habit she has is drawing pictures of the various places she visits, and adding them to her journal. This calms her mind, and can be good therapy for her after calling upon reimancy - something that can really drain her.
There are times where she does become sullen when others speak of their families, and she cannot relate. A part of her wants to seek out her mother and father, and another simply wants to find her purpose in life. For the time being however, she merely wants to get a handle on life, as well as become a more accomplished practicioner of Reimancy.
Character HistorySold for only a handful of Mizas, Jaina was a girl that her mother was eager to be rid of. Her mother worked in seduction, and would travel along with trading caravans to sell her wares. Occasionally she would become pregnant and if her child was a son, she would usually be able to find a buyer willing to purchase him for a solid amount. As for Jaina however, the market to sell her as a slave was much slimmer. As fate would have it however, a storyteller who stayed in one of the many trading posts near Lhavit was willing to take the baby girl. He feared that would he not, that she would be left for dead. He knew that the world was not always kind, and he was gifted with the chance to live out a full life. It would only make sense then, that he provide such an opportunity to another in need, and complete the circle. His name was Rivindor, and for the next few years he would take Jaina in as his own.
Jaina grew up a happy child, and knew most everyone in the trading post. Because there were so few other kids, she'd mostly spend time helping others with basic tasks, enjoying learning a bit of their craft as well as the conversation. Having a storyteller as a guardian naturally made her very curious of the outside world. This sometimes resulted in her being a bit too trusting of others; especially when strange merchants would stop by. Rivindor however, kept a close eye on Jaina; two, for as often as he could spare them. There were a few close calls, but for whatever reason, even the strongest of men would back down from Rivindor's thunderous gaze.
At the age of six, Jaina would spy Rivindor performing Reimancy for the first time. The storyteller felt he was alone and as he had run out of matches, he lit the fireplace, summoning up fire as if out of thin air through his palms. Intrigued, Jaina crept up behind him and as he turned he let out a note of surprise. He immediately tried to get the idea out of the young girls head, but from that point on Jaina continued to beg until at last, Rivindor surrendered. He thought that so long as he taught the girl safety, she may be better off than learning such an art from some questionable source; and gods know she likely would with how persistent she'd been. The ceremony wasn't pleasant, and it left Jaina in tears and agony, along with two wounds on the palms of each of her hands. However, Rivindor had warned her; cautioned her of the pain she would have to temporarily bear, but insist, she had...
For the next eight years Rivindor tutored Jaina in his spare time in secrecy, as the old storyteller did not like to openly display his powers to the public. This would last until one night when a traveling band of renegades would raid their trading post. Tents were torched, men, women and even children cut down where they stood. Jaina had never been more frightened in her life. Before she knew it, Rivindor had her by the sleeve, pulling her out to the back of his tent where a horse lied ready. Placing a bag in her hands he gave her a quick nod. "Flee from this place Jaina. Go, now!" He yelled just as an arrow pierced him in the arm, and soon, several more arrows flew in his direction.
Jaina's horse took off, and she never knew what became of Rivindor. She presumed him to have fallen, and anyone she'd asked had not seen him for some time. She was alone, and although she'd always dreamt of traveling the world, she had never wished it to be on these terms. For the next year she became accustomed to living in the wilds, armed with only the small pack Rivindor had given her, and a horse she named Jackie.
