Appearance
Race: Akalak
Gender: Male.
Age: Twenty Eight
Birthday: Summer 17th, 485 A.V.
Birthplace: Riverfall
Appearance: Standing at a 'modest' 6' 1'', Vicyr'vayass does not quite give the first impression of physical imposition. A simple fact that he has long come to accept and manipulate. Under the cloak of night, with dark skin and pale eyes hidden by the shadow of his hood, Vicyr'vayass becomes another figure within the crowd. His hair is a rich ebony and curly despite being cut close to his scalp. High cheekbones and prominent brows give him an aggressive appearance. Pale cold irises certainly add to the aura of cold aloofness so tied into the Akalak people. Take his cloak away and Vicyr'vayass is revealed to have skin that is violet in color, even gleaming under the sun. Vicyr has trained his body extensively with to be lean but just as powerful, flexible but equally hard. His preference in clothing is usually simple and most importantly allows for a wide range of motion.
Character ConceptVicyr does not subscribe to one true idea of morality. His only guiding principles - or as much principle as a man who makes killing his career - are the honor bound rules he has made for himself. His souls share an understanding of their strengths and weaknesses and only on few occasions in his later years have ever truly fought for control. The personality on the forefront however seems to be the darker of the two, a controlled but highly volatile personality that constantly brushes the realm of primal and civil. Vicyr is calculating, storing his disquiet away but always, always remembering. He waits, stalks,
hunts then strikes. This personality, patient and constantly watchful, is highly competitive. He constantly seeks ways to hone his skills and takes the highest pleasure in his work. The thrill of the kill one might say.
The second personality on the other hand often goes by the second part of the shared name: Vayass. The difference between these two counterparts is as vast as a chasm. Vayass comes into play when a situation calls for mingling and wild nights of near debauchery and havoc. He enjoys the social scene and often employs wit both lighthearted and morbidly dark. Certainly his rhetoric could do with a lot of work but it is enough to put others at ease on a good day. There is an underlying trace of romanticism in Vayass that he (surprisingly) shares with Vicyr. Keep in mind where one things flowers are romantic, the other is much more like a cat offering the prize of a dead bird as gift.
Vicyr'Vayass is driven by a need to improve and challenge himself, perhaps even to prove himself though he will refuse to acknowledge it.
Character HistoryFor a long time, all Vicyr'Vayass knew was Riverfall where he was born and raised. He was the second on three sons, the first of which was far older and shared a different mother. The only relation between the three was the blood shared through their father. Vicyr never knew his mother as she died in child birth. Neither did this fact bother him. He showed potential in his younger years, keeping up with his peers until suddenly he stopped growing. Soon a majority of them surpassed him physically. Training became more tedious. Their longer reach always put him at a disadvantage. It was a regular thing to find Vicyr wrestling with his two brothers and ending up at the bottom of the pile when he used more upfront tactics. He grew irritated by this. The spirit to excel was within him, this he knew but if he was to stand on par with the others he would have to take a slightly different path.
Vicyr was the dominant personna put his determination to good use. He read fighting styles and began experimenting. At first it went horribly but with each mistake, he learned something new. Within a year, he was dancing circles around his peers. He ignored comments aimed towards his methods. If he couldn't take them head on, then he would overcome them with superior maneuverability. A conversation with his father revealed to him that the older Akalak was torn between pride for his son's ingenuity and conviction but questioning the methods used. At age fifteen, he went for his first Glassbeak hunt. It was a simple affair given the number present.
After the hunting trip, Vicyr grew restless. He couldn't settle on a mentor and for a while wandered aimlessly in the city until he saw in a stranger, a mentor. She was well versed in the art of stealth and acrobatics. She refused him at first; of course since she had no reason to take a trainee under her wing. He was adamant however. When her stay was over, she left and he followed. Needless to say, he wasn't very subtle in his approach. He might as well have walked around blowing a trumpet. For several days he followed. He knew she was aware of his presence as much as she knew that he knew. Vicyr watched and imitated. He supposes she warmed up to him. She began to train him in her own right through a game cat and mouse. It was all very informal and Vicyr actually enjoyed the challenge of it. Learning was slow but the progress was made all the sweeter for it.
She began to teach him to use the iron staff. It began with a practice stick. they would spar travel during the day, practice, rest then at night work on his stealth. He learned of her line of work and rather than revulsion to the idea, Vicyr welcomed it. Eventually they parted ways. He knew enough of the basics she said. Before they left, she gave him an iron staff and told him of Sunberth. It would be a suitable beginning for him. While traveling there, he worked with the Ironstaff, going through the motions and techniques.
He plans to return to Riverfall before his thirtieth year to complete his rite of passage. There is plenty to consider before then but there is time.
