Birthplace: Kalinor Appearance: Rion's looks can best be described by these three words: sophisticated, reclusive, and suave. He dresses as a gentleman, but one look at his constant repose will tell you that there is more to his story. Character Concept Rion prefers the company of himself more than anything in the world. It is the one thing that keeps him stable. Rion never really leaves his home. Along with being a recluse comes the inevitable perk of being well-read. The craving of books (when he isn't craving food) has allowed him to become the intelligent being that he is today. He prefers to stay away from battles of any kind, but when he is provoked and has the displeasure of engaging in combat, he keeps his distance. He's definitely not the kind of person that will trust someone whom he does not know extensively, and he is not to be trusted to people who do not know him well. On certain days, Rion is likely to be in pain from the chronic headaches he experiences. His childhood friends used to tease him about this and say that it was Viratas' way of punishing him for not hunting with them. Character History As a child, Rion lived with his father, Gavol. His mother was a ghost to him. His father never spoke about her, and Rion had never met her. It was almost as if he did not care to pursue her identity. To Rion, however, it did not matter. He just wanted to walk in his father's footsteps and live a peaceful life. Unfortunately, as all must learn, this is not possible. He became disgusted at the outsider views on his race and began to take more pride in being a Symenestra than ever before. As far as he was concerned, his race was full of good people. His father for example was an herbalist. He perfected the growth of his plants and exposed their medicinal properties for the greater good of the people in Kalea, and they respected him for this. They set aside their dislike for Symenestra in his case. This was the man Rion longed to be. He wanted to feel needed. Gavol noticed Rion's involvement and gifted him his old apothecary chest so that he could collect herbs for him. That gesture made Rion feel important. Around 508 A.V, Gavol died. It was a mystery to Rion and everyone else in the caverns as to how his death occured. Nevertheless, this occurrence is what led him to move from Kalinor, study Herbology, and learn the craft that his father practiced.
