The Heist

17th of Summer, 513 AV.

Kyo stood on the ferry boat watching the shoreline intently. His gaze was not one of fear, nor of concern. He wore a look of anxiousness tonight. He had not robbed a caravan since his times with his family in the hills of Sylira, charging down at the caravans from time to time both to eat the travelers and steal anything they might have of worth.

Tonight he was formally hired to do what he would do for the simple pleasure of participating. But he would have to be far more cautious of the men he now sailed across the lake to meet, then he would around his own family. For all he knew they intended to cut off all the loose ends once the business had concluded... Kyo knew this and steeled himself for such an outcome.

The ship docked at it's moored dock nestled in the Southern Trading post. The usual guard detail eyed Kyo with more than a bit of curiosity for as usual during this kind of affair, he was in full battle gear. His spiked armor and gauntlets only served to further accentuate his Wolf's Teeth Club.

He took no concern of their stares and walked off the boat toward the designated meeting place in Malfasar's Beer Hut. A simple beer hut for traders waiting to get into the actual city with their goods of all kinds, and the place where tonight's plot would be revealed to Kyo.

He approached the door and without hesitation barged in to the bar, nearly hitting the barmaid who was happening past the door as he entered. "Apologies sir..." she said with a polite bow, hurrying back to her duties. Kyo paid the incident no mind, his mind fully occupied by the prospects of tonight's festivities.

He peered about the room and noted a trio of men gathered at a table all armed much as you would expect brutes and thieves to be. Kyo found he fit in best with disreputable louts such as these. Though such men were still beneath him in his opinion. He walked directly over to the men then and sat directly next to the one with a nasty scar that had torn a large piece of his lower lip away, further disfiguring an already ugly face... Kyo was no looker either and respected a man who held his head high despite such scars.

He slapped down the notice onto the table as per the instructions, directly in front of the grotesque looking man. The man gave a toothy smile at the site and swiped the paper off the table placing it inside his studded leather jerkin. He gave a nod to Kyo and said "The name's Jim... friends call me Slip Lip, cuz I slipped my lip to many times at the city prison and got it cut right good!." The trio of men laughed heartily obviously finding the man's humor very amusing. "But you's can call me Slip. That big fella over their, Though not bigger than you it would seem (eyeing Kyo up and down and he spoke) is named Brutus. Brutus ain't very smart but he's good at clubbin ain't ya Brute ole boy eh?" Brutus nodded like a naive child who was excited to receive praise, taking a heavy drink from his mug of ale. "The last feller here is Slick, by accounts that he is a slick shot with his Crossbow, ain't that right Slick?" Slick simply raised his mug and took a sip off the top.

"Well now that we've been all introduced and we still waiting for the boss and Fidget, what might your name be stranger?"
Kyo looked up to the man Jim, or Slip, whatever the talkative fool's name was saying as Briskly as he could manage, "The name'sss Kyodaija, you can call me Kyo" Waving to the barmaid as he spoke "one of your ale'sss pleassse..."

Slip looked at Kyo with a cocked eye and whispered into his ear, "You're one o them snake people ain't chya?" Kyo simply nodded not wanting to bother with hiding his identity.

"Well now that is interesting..." Came the call of a man approaching the table.

The Heist

Postby Kyodaija on July 23rd, 2013, 7:03 pm

The man who now approached was dressed in a full well kept suit of studded leather armor. It was dyed black (even the studs) and spoke something of a man who payed top dollar for his protective gear of choice. Next to the man was a squirrely looking man who was the shortest out of all the men gathered. His eyes darted around frantically as he fussed over something hidden up his sleeve. Given these men's vocation as bandits and thieves. It was not hard for Kyo to imagine just what was up his arms and hidden under his dark cloak.

He approached Kyo with a hand outstretched, a warm smile on his face. "I am Victor Von Dracken, me mates call me Vic if it pleases." Kyo stood and shook the mans hand giving it a nice tight squeeze. "Kyodaija is the name, Kyo works just as well with me." With that he sat back down at the table.

The crew now numbered 6 strong (Kyo included) more than enough to take any normal wagon selling furs and fleece one would expect. Vic took a look at his men whom had gathered seeming to take measure of each one of them slowly one at a time.

He leaned in close to the center of the table and addressed them all quietly, "This ain't no normal wagon carrying furs. It has some very rare stuff, my informant tells me the value of this cart is double what I had originally anticipated!" He waited while his men looked at one another excited expressions on their faces. "But we need to be wary. It would seem that in addition to the merchant family, there are 4 mounted guard and 8 on foot. We will be meeting up with the twins and their lot to aid in the attack." Slip spit at the statement, "Those boys is trouble, I don't like the way they do things." Vic rolled his eyes "that's twelve guards and 2 merchants Slip, best we can manage is 10 men. This ain't gonna be a picnic without those other 4 bastards helping us, so put aside the past with your sister and can it!" Slip looked away with a frustrated pout on his face.

The meeting ended after the men had there meals and drink enjoying their potential last night on earth. The caravan would be arriving late that night to Ravok where it would most likely spend the evening at the trading post before moving into the city the next day. They had some very high profile good to afford such a large force of guards to protect it. Perhaps hiring a whole crew of Mercs for a large contract.

The men left the tavern then traveling their way far down the road to the designated meeting place these *Twins* would be. Kyo took it all with stride, simply wishing to get to the skull cracking bit of the evening.

They approached a small hill nestled a short distance from the road the caravan would be marching it's way along. perhaps 2 chimes away from Ravok. It was scheduled to arrive sometime a chime after dusk.

The twins showed up then taking a crouching position next to Vic. They were equally ugly looking as the rest of the lot and stunk twice as bad. The 2 they brought with them were some scraggly looking thugs that looked heavy handed holding large clubs. A contrast to the lithe and wiry looking twins.

The caravan came into view then causing most everyone there to smirk evilly.

The Heist

Postby Kyodaija on August 3rd, 2013, 3:00 am

The group Kyo had arrived with crossed the road quickly along with their leader Vic. nestling in among a group of rocks across the way, covered with thick concealing brush. 2 of the men Kyo was left with drew longbows and had plentiful arrows in the quivers strapped across their backs. Watching one of them draw an arrow he could see the tips were very needle like. It would appear their foes had the advantage of armor...

Slick and Slip drew crossbows across the way similarly readying themselves for the unaware caravan. The rest of the men drew their various weapons while Kyo clutched tightly his Wolf's teeth club at his side. Anticipating the full length of the caravan coming into view.

the vanguard was 2 mounted men clad in half plate. The Clydesdale's they rode on were trotting along with an even pace in front of a large canvas wagon, drawn by 2 oxen. Behind the wagon was 4 merc's wearing scale armor and wielding various blades and axes. The next Wagon behind the 4 men had 4 oxen drawing it and was slightly larger, similarly covered with a large canvas. The carts were both drawn by 2 people a piece, 1 driven by an older looking woman. with a young man whilst the other was driven by an older man with a woman holding onto a little girl. Finally in the rear four more identically dressed merc's and 2 mounted men.

Kyo noted once the mounted men got closer a mark clearly identifying the group as some form of organized group. Perhaps a particular military force or mercenaries? Kyo supposed it wouldn't matter much, they would most likely all be killed or turncoat to avoid death for their meager share of a guard contract.

The front of the column pass the group a bit before the crossbowman loosed their bolts into the front two men in the column. True to his name Slickshot got his man square through his neck and out the other side killing him almost immediately. While Slip struck his man in the shoulderblade causing him to almost lose his saddled position.

The longbowman began pelting the guards in the rear killing one of them and missing the other. A roar went up among the bandits as everyone charged down the hill, Kyo among them.

A majority of the bandits moved to the center to overwhelm the 4 men their, which very trained managed to hold off the bandits killing several of them right off. only losing one of their number in the initial melee. Kyo charge the men in the rear swinging his weapon at the first merc he encountered, whom managed to block it with his shield.

The blow caused the man to stumble back from the sheer weight and nearly lose his footing. Kyo took the opporunity to pump a small burst of Djed through his limbs and speed the ascent of his club slightly faster to come crashing into the man's exposed side. Despite this the man again managed to parry the blow partially with his sword. For his effort he was spared most of the impact but not the brutal spikes in his side. The man let out a wail of pain as his nearest ally approached Kyo thrusting a short spear at his chest.

Kyo dodged and grabbed the spear with his left hand faster then the man could pull it away. Again using Djed Kyo took the small spear and whacked his club one handed into it meaning to snap the weapon in two. The soldier anticipated the move and dropped the spear at the last moment, utilizing Kyo's open defences to draw his dagger and slam it in to Kyo's gut.

His armor saved his life as the blade slid past the plate of his Lamallar and stopped on the studs of his leather underneath. Kyo drove down his forehead into the mans face crushing the man's nose in the process. While he reeled back the second guard again rushed in with his longsword meaning to run Kyo through.

Thoroughly frustrated Kyo projected his Djed outward from his hand and poked the energy like limb into the mans eyes. causing the man to curse and reel back with a frustrated wail, which Kyo finally ended with the dull thud of his club on the back of the mans neck, finally dropping to the ground dead. The second man threw the dagger into Kyo's shoulder.

Reeling Kyo made a swipe with his club which the soldier easily guarded with his shield. Kyo unable to grip his club with two hand now abandoned it in favor of a spiked punch into the man's stomach with his good arm. Just as it looked that the man would block Kyo's punch he upped the trajectory into an uppercut. The man anticipated the move and manged to get his shield in the way all the same, then bashing it into Kyo's face.

Kyo reeled back a moment taking another shield bash to the face. While he was recovering the man took the opportunity to retrieve his spear and levy it to thrust into the exposed Kyo's chest. But Kyo dived downward managing to only be grazed by the spear tip across his face. Throwing himself at the mans legs he bowled them both over onto to the muddy road.

The man was thoroughly caught off guard by this maneuver and was defenseless to Kyo throwing himself over top and pounding his spiked fist into the mans face.

Kyo punched him 2 more times for good measure before taking a club to the side of the head as a passing horseman smashed his helmet off knocking him to the ground.

The world was a daze around him as he struggled to gain focus. His helmet had saved his life and allowed him to recover somewhat quickly. But he already saw the man bearing down for another pass. Kyo dodged to the side falling atop his abandoned wolf's teeth club, also painfully wrenching the dagger out of his shoulder.

Kyo picked up his club and spun to face the man in a standing position. This time the man got enough distance to make it a full charge. Kyo readied himself to attack. Clutching his weapon tightly as the horse bore down toward him. Unexpected to both involved 2 arrows drove into the neck and head of the horse, causing it to stumble at the last moment, leaving the beleaguered man at Kyo's mercy for his swinging swipe at the mans head.

The crimson spray that followed signaled the end of the lives of all the guards, and the end of the battle.

The Heist

Postby Kyodaija on August 3rd, 2013, 3:54 am

Kyo went to retrieve his helmet and suprisingly found it was still mostly intact. Despite a good sized dent in the side that would need to get banged out... His shoulder didn't seem all that bad but caused him a bit of pain now that the adrenaline of combat was over.

No more than half of the bandits remained, which was quite good considered the skill of the men that they fought. The drivers of the wagons were dragged out and line up on the ground, the little girl crying while her mother held her trying to calm her down. Kyo lept up into the back of the smaller wagon and laid his eyes on their prize. The fine furs that lined this wagon in bundles were plentiful and of the highest quality.

Several of the bandits hoarded below holding out their hands indicating for Kyo to toss down the goods. Kyo grabbed the furs one by one tossing them down to the other bandits, which tossed the goods into the larger cart where the rest of the furs were. Kyo while dragging one of the last furs away, found a sizable sack of coins... peering inside he saw what looked to be a healthy am mount of gold Mizas. He stowed the bag at his side alongside his small bag of coins, grabbing the remaining furs tossing them to the eager hands below.

He jumped off the back of the cart and watched as the two "leaders" of the groups argued over what to do with the traders.

"These people need not die we have made them suffer enough among this mess..." Vic had a pleading tone. The other man spoke up "They've seen our faces so they need to die simple as that..." The two went on back and fourth like this tirelessly. Until Kyo intervened.

He walked right up to the prisoners and picked up one of the fallen soldiers swords, slitting the throat of the old man, then while casting a cold gaze at the other two, "You human'sss like to argue when action ssshould be taken..." Kyo finished the job of executing the prisoners eventually even ending the life of the little girl, which even caused the man wishing for their death's to wince at the brutality.

Kyo tossed the blade to the side when he was finished. giving a look to all their that showed his utter lack of concern for the lives of the merchants. Kyo turned and began to make his way back to the city, meaning to go claim his 100 Mizas.

He made his ends meet and found it a rather enjoyable experience. But simply had no taste for the men's gutless attitudes.

Business as usual.

The Heist

Postby Kyodaija on August 3rd, 2013, 4:04 am

24th of Summer 513 AV

Kyo waltzed into the bar walking directly up to the bar no longer wearing his armor but looking slightly worse for wear with his bandaged up arm and head. Approaching the bartender he simply said "I have come to inform the Heissst is complete... I will take my pay now..."

The bartender made his way to the back and withdrew the sack of coins that looked to hold Kyo's reward money.

He walked off intending to make his way to the smithy, hopefully to get his armor banged back into shape.
