Torii

-Character Profile-
PC Name’s: Torii
Race: Konti
Birthday: 19th Day, Winter of 480AV
Age: 32
Gender: Female
Height: 5’2" ft.
Weight: 104 lbs.

Physical Description:

From a moment's glance, it's easy to determine Torii is not a threatening sight at all. Her body could almost be described as petite, largely due to her small size. However she does make an effort to stay in shape. While she certainly doesn't have the strength to wrestle a Jamoura, her fair body's well toned from exercise and has no discernible blemishes.

Torii's long wavy hair falls down to the bottom of her shoulder blades, well tended and cared for. Her deep blue eyes often have some sort of make-up surrounding then, often giving them a rather striking appearance in comparison to her soft face.

Like all Konti, scales creep up and around her body, faintly displayed upon her brow. Thus, when away from her people, she makes every effort to hide them. Jewelry, high-collars, stockings, long sleeves, gloves. She wears a heavy amount of make-up to conceal her identity, as uncomfortable as that might be. This is a large reason why she tries to draw so much attention to her eyes -- so you don't notice the scales or webbing.

Her Gnosis can be located on the back of her left hand, the swirling sigil of Rak'keli being shamefully hidden behind a glove. Not out of shame in her dedication to the goddess. Rather, in shame that she must hide it for her personal safety.

Character Concept:

Personality :

Torii is a kind soul, making every effort she can to avoid harming others. Often this resorts to her inconveniencing herself in order to appease another, but so long as the effort's worth it in the long run, she doesn't mind too much. That being said, occasionally her anger will get the best of her and she'll briefly snap out at another, if only to usually apologize swiftly afterwards. She's a charitable soul and tries to give what she doesn't need to others.

It's due to this that she feels she must go to dangerous places to lend aid. After all, what good is being a healer among a healthy population, when there's a sickly one that needs you? Regardless of hostilities, regardless of danger, she goes where she feels she is most needed. Though she might be afraid, she's brave enough to do what she thinks is right.

She's a humble woman, downplaying her abilities and never outwardly taking pride in what she does. This is a facade. She really does love praise, and is aware of what she can and can not do. She just doesn't want to come off as rude by boasting.

Torii is an easy to make friend, and a very easy to keep one too. She's willing to forgive others for their mistakes to a fault. Though many might wish to take advantage of her friendly nature, she can be shrewd and calculating when the situation calls for it.

When in a panic, she's very quick to cling to another for emotional support and direction. Hopefully this is someone she trusts, but really she's just looking for a leadership figure of any sort in these times of stress. If she feels she could be the leader, she'll take a shot at it, but only if she's confident she would be a good choice.

Ethics:

Torii believes in earning things, not taking them. This sort of creates an odd thought process in which she can admire a thief for pulling off a successful heist, but still shake her head at the thief for stealing in the first place.

She's very quick to show respect for any authority figure, having zero desire to break the law. Even still, she respects justice, not tyranny. And she enjoys personal freedom.

Likes:

  • She enjoys the praise of others, and especially appreciates kind criticism.
  • She spends a good amount of time trying to get her own personal appearance just right (mostly to disguise herself). It's due to this that she likes anything that can help her improve. Jewelry's a flattering gift, if a rather expensive one. Though she
  • Torii is a fan of music and stories. If she has some free time, she greatly enjoys listening to the tales of others. Though admittedly she can be a bit squeemish.

Dislikes:

  • She dislikes violence, and tries her best to avoid it. In concordance with this, she dislikes those who lack mercy.
  • Anything that she considers filthy earns her ire rather quickly. Though she doesn't want to be a snob, she'll turn her nose away from someone who smells like manure.

Character History:

Pre-Creation: :
Torii was born and raised on the White Isle, the result of a union between a Vantha Icewatch and her mother Ari. Life was sweet for her, the girl living a joyous youth among her fellow girls, playing and laughing her days away. She was a good and obedient daughter, taking lessons well from her mother as the older Konti woman tried to prepare her for the future ahead. Ari taught her child a great number of skills, most just practical necessities of life, though left the girl room to learn on her own as well. Every once in a while she spoke of the girl's father, but it was a rare subject.

Her gift was not realized for quite some time. While she was empathetic as any other Konti girl, she lagged behind others who made their discoveries much quicker than her. It wasn't until one of Torii's friends showed her a bandaged cut that she painfully discovered her connection to wounds. She told her mother of the strange sensation, eyes wet from old tears. Surprised as her mother was, she still comforted her daughter, telling her everything would be fine.

Torii's mother predicted that the girl's gift would lead her to becoming a healer of some sort, so Ari directed her daughter to her mother. T'was with her that the young girl took her first steps towards being an accomplished healer. And it was under her grandmother's tutelage that she felt her calling. The call to aid those in need. An admirable goal, if a dangerous one.

It was here that Torii's mother tried to dissuade her, the normally calm pair bursting into an argument as Ari worried for her daughter's safety. But there was no convincing the girl at this point. To Torii, there was no point in wasting her abilities in a place where people were safe. The pair reconciled with one another before the girl's departure, and she promised her family that she would return one day. With that, she simply packed her bags and set off on her journey to find those in need and lend them aid.

Konti Gift
Healer's Sense - If Torii should make direct skin-to-skin contact with someone's injury, whether fresh or a scar, old or new, she gets a sense of what caused it. Should she brush her hand across a stab wound she'd be able to identify if it was from a dagger or a sword or even just a prickly branch. If the wound was caused by something magical then she can sense the wound's arcane origin, but can't pinpoint what sort of magic it was. While she can get a vague sense of who caused the wound (the equivalent of a silhouette), she can't get names or distinct details. Also, upon making contact, she gets a slight sensation of the pain associated with the wound when it was first made.
