Physical Description:
Fenris is an elder Drykas with steel colored hair grown to his stomach and a long beard. Clothed in muted wool and leather, a great cloak covers his frame. The man's face has the forbearance of chipped onyx and the sardonic wit of a bard. Braids and metal rings are woven into the length of his mane, while the windmark of a prehistoric raven covers his voice box. He is missing the thumb and ring finger on the left hand and has strange images of insects, animals, weapons, musical instruments and glyphs patterned into the extremity. An open fanged maw is tattooed on the inside palm. Fenris wears a wide variety of rings, jewelry and necklaces. Several of these rings bear a stone from each horseclan over the remaining digits and he wears an inlaid spearhead around his neck as well as a variety of loose arrowheads.
Character Concept:
A former usurper. A nomadic warlord now living as a roaming bard, spy, skald, horse tamer, bee keeper and trouble maker. Whether he rises to his base nature or seeks a new path will be written by either a sharp voice or charmed spear.
Character History:
Born many cycles ago to the Sapphire horseclan, Fenris was raised to be a horse tamer and webber. As many young men do, this one found little wisdom in the teaching of his elders, and left to experience the world for himself. This promise of freedom and fast living met the reality of danger involved in exploring the grass and wildlands. He took up with marauders and gypsies, explored new cities, vast cultures and abundant wealth of both knowledge and material worth. He learned to live not only through power and community but by guile and opportunity.
Charmingly charismatic Fenris found others naturally gravitated towards him and the nomadic raider lifestyle he help build. Dining with the worst and even most chivalrous, he entertained kings and killers, zith and knights alike, all through the power of gold, companionship, speech and steel. Appearing as both a carrion feeder and people’s champion, the dichotomy of his reputation held disdain, trust and fanatic belief.
Making one shifting deal too many, his paramour of half truths and predatory symbiosis finally caught up to him as the people of Grassland dethroned the Horselord, dragging him to the underpasses of Endrykas.
Many years later, a different man emerged. Rumors of his return hushed the wind over the fields of grain, but they were only whispers. In some ways those who remembered the man saw little need to take their task further, and those that didn’t saw only a skald and elder bard. He smiled below that beard, using those same whispers to speak to the ears of both man and creature alike.
