He felt a slight pain on his chest as he slowly opened his eyes to the world. His father stood next to his bed. It used to be hard on his back but he had grown accustomed to the solid bed. Aedai lived in a cottage made of wood that his father built or found, he was never really told. There were three rooms in the cottage since it was small, even Aedai's room was small. The first room was where the front door was, and it was the room with the kitchen and a table witch chairs. The other room was his parents bedroom. It made him wonder if everything was already here or if they went through the rough trouble of dragging everything or making everything for the home.

Aedai was young and still learning alot from his parents. His mother would teach him daily, even though he complained, of how to speak in common. She would also take the time to teach him to read in common as well since she had brought books with her to the cottage, books about medicine and plants. There was a lot about Aedai's parents that he didn't know about. There was a lot that he didn't understand, like why live in the middle of the forest where it isn't safe. His father would always tell him it isn't safe. It never made sense to him, he had also wondered at times how his father knew how to fight or guide through the Bronze Woods.

Today his father wanted to teach him how to fight with a spear. He had carved two out with wood that he cut out himself. His father thought it was time Aedai started learning how to defend himself. As Aedai slowly got out of bed, his father stared at him with a warm smile. "Come on, we got a full day to train son," his father said still smiling. Aedai stretched and got into his clothese quickly to get outside and start. He was excited to learn how to fight, since he would often pick up his father's spear and play with it. His mother had served him breakfast, usually food bought in Syrilas, and he swallowed it quickly. "My, my, someone is eager to learn from his father," his mother said, "I would love to see that eagerness whenever I started teaching you something". His father went out the front door and waited outside for Aedai.

He gave her a big smile and a kiss on the cheek, "thanks for the bweakfest". His mother sighed and said, "it's breakfast, brek-fist". Aedai rolled his eyes, and his mother hit his head, "don't roll those eyes at me, where did you learn that?" Aedai responded, "father does whenever you tell him something he doesn't like". His mother crossed her arms, "He is going to hear something from me tonight".

Aedai headed outside, as soon as he did his father threw a wooden stick at him. Aedai didn't catch it and it hit his chest instead. After the small ain subsided he bent over to get the wooden stick. "It has no sharp head so we won't hurt eachother while we are training", said his father.

[Flashback/Training][Bronze Woods]A Spear without a Head

Postby Aedai on July 20th, 2010, 11:27 pm

Aedai held the wooden stick awkwardly but then held the position his father usually held with the stick. Aedai put his left hand on the front of the staff a few inches away from the head, and he put his right hand on the other side of the long stick. The stick was about Aedai's height but just a foot taller. Aedai at the young age of 10 stood at four feet and 5 inches tall. He always wore day in and day out the same clothes to go out and different clothes to sleep. His mother would always wash his clothes by the lake with his father and Aedai as company. A woman should not have to walk in the forest on her own.

His father took notice of Aedais' initiative and shook his head and laughed, "no Aedai you have to use your right hand on the top near the head. You use the hand your most comfortable with as your lead hand ". Aedai turned to his father licking his dry lips, "but I'm comfortable with both hands". His father chuckled and said, "fine give it a try, why don't you use start by giving me some thrust?" With that his father gripped his own wooden stick the same way Aedai gripped except his grip was more firm from experience. He brought the spear back and quickly jabbed it forward, going for a quick thrust. He did it twice to show Aedai how it is done.

Aedai nodded with a smile and went ahead to do the same. He tried it once but when he finished his thrust it was sloppy and slow unlike his fathers'. When he tried again he just wore himself out faster. "That is why I said to use your right hand", said his father, "since you use your right hand just like your mother". Aedai switched hands, putting his right hand as his lead and sliding his left hand down leaving space in the middle. He jabbed just like his father at the open air. It was quicker but still sloppy from his inexperience in handling a spear unlike his father.

Aedai's father pat his head and said, "Don't worry we got all day and we will also work on some sweep attacks as well". Aedai cocked his head to the side, "What is a sweep attack?".
