Surviving in the Wildlands just got to be significantly more difficult.

While Sylira is by far the most civilized region of Mizahar, countless surprises and encounters await the traveler in its rural wilderness. Called the Wildlands, Syliran's wilderness is comprised of gradual rolling hills in the south that become deep wilderness in the north. Ruins abound throughout the wildlands, and only the well-marked roads are safe.

"You just... can," the huntress commented as she continued walking forward. Eyes fixated on the path that stretched before each of them. Seeking any signs of animal life- piles of dung, snapped branches, fallen leaves, broken. Their crackling flesh littering the ground nearby recent prints. But still, finding none.
"Aello," she whispered, her voice as distant as she.
She stepped around another tree. Feet rising high before each movement, each return to the earth. Gliding over roots, through underbrush. Rustling the fronds; shaking the leaves. They inched silently beside the tops of acorns. Berets with pointed felt hoods. Her fist tightening around the supple curve of her father's old bow as she made her way along. The sun beating upon her skin for the better part of a full bell.
Until she finally found them- a set of relatively new tracks. Teardrops facing one another. Only marginally pleased with herself, the huntress waved Ana over and pointed to them.
These would be the ones to follow.
OOCSorry my posts have just plain sucked lately. |

Ana followed after Aello, maneuvering as silently as her newfound temporary companion. Finding it still rather difficult with the forest envirement, being much more of an urban thief than a silent hunter. She couldn't help but feel a tad more nervous the farther they went into the dense foliage and thick trees. Her eyes flicked to the sky more than once to check the time and how much daylight she had left; and if this Aello didn't know where she needed to go then Ana had better get to work on making her way back to Nyka. Halting next to Aello to look at some indents in the ground, she wondered. Did an animal make those? It reminded her of a footprint.
Without saying a word they continued on, following after the tracks for what seemed to be an a millenium, until of course, Ana lost Aello in a particularly thick thicket of trees and bushes. "He-hey, wait" she whispered quietly, watching the figure become but a shadow and finally a wisp of cloth lost to the whims of directionless meanings. Coming out of it only to find that Ana was ten times more lost than she formerly was. Well, this little expedition has just gone so swell.. Sigh.. Lets see.. Ana leaned against a tree, her arms going a little slack with dissapointment. Thinking to herself. Truthfully she hadn't the slightest idea, she was lost, and misdirected.
What had that one girl said.. Alea..? This compass thing can get me unlost? Ana fiddled with her shortbow for a bit, not wanting to set it down but at the same time needing her hands to be free. There wasn't any way she could defend herself with a weapon she was incompentent with. Settling on slinging the bow up and around, past her body so the curve rested into her back and the string kept the bow from falling away. That was probably a really bad thing to do but at the moment she couldn't bring herself to care, taking the compass out from her shirt to pop it open and watch the little arrow swirl around uncertainl in rapid circles.
"How the petch is this suppose to help me?" Ana mumbled, confused by the device. Taking it from her neck she held it waist level in both hands and continued to watch the arrow spin. The compass itself was extrodinairly well made, and in a metal that Ana could only muse was gold, on the inside when it was open it had two arrows pointing in opposite directions. One arrow was tipped red, and the other blue, to what reasoning, Ana couldn't guess. Maybe they were indicators of which direction to go? Hotter or Colder styled. The red signalled you were getting closer to your destination, and the blue meant you were getting farther away.
The red arrow stopped somewheres to the right towards a letter E but veering downwards to the letter S. Aello had said North there were some cliffs.. That sounded like the area Ana needed to go. There was a letter N. Mayhaps N for North?Ana grimaced as she tried to figure the compass out, turning it, and watching how the arrow moved with her movements until finally Ana decided to keep the compass itself straight but turned her body around a bit to watch the compass' arrow move more until it finally landed on the letter N. Looking up to that direction, the way looked like more dissapointment but Ana didn't have any choice.
The trek had taken most of the day, most of her energy, and the red in the sky emblazoned with yellow, pinks, and fading blues giving unto the blackness of a quickening night time. Ana had just barely made it to the city, to its walls, and finally its gates.. Just in time to get back to the Hostel.
NoteI really didn't want to end this thread on this note, but I guess I have little choice, and I really don't want to bother with it anymore.. |
