Edelweiss, Elk Kelvic

White hair like snow, eyes like ice; silver blue gray all depends on the light. Edelweiss is a fair male, his skin pale and without a mark, his body is lanky with long limbs. He has deft and clever hands, with long fingers to craft and make things or undo knots. He is thin but not unhealthily; his cheeks often with a rich pink glow to them from wind and excitement. He is quiet tall, coming just to six feet when his hair’s plastered down. It isn’t often that it is.

His hair at its longest point is just below his chin, often curling or spiking. The back of his hair is the worst, defying gravity at times and curling up and looking like a ducks tail. Edelweiss has sharp features, his longer face coming to a slight rounded chin. He has high cheekbones and large clear eyes. He has a slight thin and long nose that ends in a point. His eye brows are thin and angled giving him a bit of stern gaze even when trying to look friendly.

His slender build is disrupted by wider shoulders but as you look down his body his waist slims again. If you were to glance he has a good backside but he will blame this on his other form; after all Elk are known for their toned backsides. It goes to long and lean legs then to his feet which are sort of big, in truth so are his hands delicate fingers or not. When he walks his toes spread out, another thing he claims to take from his other form. When standing there is a cleft between his first two toes and his last three.

Clothing off there isn’t a mark on him. He has soft skin and soft muscles to boot. No six pack in his future.

Easy going, but a bit silly; Edelweiss wants a home and a rock steady place to belong. A place that’s beautiful and quiet but never boring. A clean and warm home to go back to ever night, and friends to drink with and talk to when his feet are sore and his hands cold from work. In this place will be something he can do to pitch in a help. A hard bag of wants, but one he strives for.

Young as he is, he’s got an old soul. Edelweiss wants to dive into books; to soak up everything he can get his hands on and then some. What’s out there, how do the stars shine? Stories are all well in good but he wants to be able to hold it in his hands and just know what it is. To point at a rock and tell you how it was made. He wants to find mysteries and find out how they started and how they end; but in this he never wants it to end and hopes that there will never be a shortage for him to see and do.

That someone special seems really far away. Like all Kelvic Edelweiss has that driving need to find that someone special to bond with. He wants to find them and to know them; would they always be together? He has heard stories of bonds broken by fights; by blood and by force. That last whispered behind hands. He is too stubborn to allow his need to make anything hasty, they will have to be special but he will find them.

The gods, this is something that interested him greatly. Young age or not he has heard of these powerful beings and he longs to speak to one and ask them question. He refuses to see that they might have better things to do, and vows one day he will see and touch one; and know them for who they are not what the stories say they are. It could be they could answer his questions of the stars of the seasons and of death. Even the one question that has plagued him since it came to mind. Did the gods like Kelvic at all, the race created by man not themselves?

In all he really is an old sort of soul, content with the little everyday things. He is gentle and kind, always bright and warm even to strangers. He believes there is life in everything and a path for everyone that can sometimes be cut short before they find their own end. If he should help someone one day maybe it helps them in ways they would never guess later on; give someone his food and they might go another day and save someone else who will later write a book about a new plant that will save more lives. If he can help someone and it won’t kill him; he will simple as that and for no other reason than the sole belief that one day he will help someone who had really needed it.

Born to two humans, you heard it right. His mother a baker and his father a sheep herder; not the noblest of workings but it did the job and they enjoyed just what they did. It came as a shock to the two humans when their day old son stood up and beamed a bright smile to his parents. His white hair and pale looks were a shock as well, his mother with fire like flames and his father hair like the earth he loved to work. They were confused and they looked to the priest for help.

Whispers had started on about their son who had been possessed by a ghost for the reasons of his pale looks. The priest tried to banish the ghost from the babe but it didn’t do a thing but scare Edelweiss; so named after a flower his father knew from his time in the north. The poor boy was poked prodded and prayed over; he had healers come and try to heal him even. At a week old he shifted for the first time, because he wanted to run; and he did.

Young gangly limbs took him over hills and into fields where he was swallowed by grass only to leap free to gaze at the dragonflies around him. Finally people understood that it was no ghost but a Kelvic; and the priests felt silly for not guessing this sooner. What child could stand the day he was born, or understand what was going around him? From then on his parents turned their attention to each other; and Edelweiss mother was called for cheating on her husband. The babe didn’t care not that he was left alone more he could play and he did.

He spent his first weeks of life lifting rocks and trying to find tree’s like in the books he had taken from his father’s chests. The priests now turned from threats to friends and one kind woman took to teaching him to read and write and Edelweiss ran with it soaking everything up like a wool cloth. Life was gentle and cool and his parents finally decided that it had to be one of their parents who were a Kelvic and it just skipped them. Finally they paid more attention to their son and were a family.

Edelweiss learned to bake; watched lambs be born and old ewes pass. All in one spring he grew before their eyes and started to speak. At a little past two months he started to leave his mother’s side more and more and soon found friends in other children. They loved that he could change to an animal and hardly a day went by that he wasn’t romping on four legs around them. They had grand adventures in their play, rescuing the girls from certain doom. Yet this play could not last for Edelweiss grew so much faster than the children did and he was soon more interested in books then play.

He didn’t stop visiting his friends of course, but they were so young compared to him and soon he was large enough that he let them sit upon his back. The children had ridden with the parents on horses and ponies but never on a friend. Edelweiss didn’t mind it in the slightest for he ran faster than any pony and he just loved to run through the grass. Soon he helped with his father to herd the sheep. Faster than his da’s dog he chased the herd to the right pastures watching them scatter like white birds over the ground. Eight months he stayed at his parent’s side, but now he suddenly finds he wants to leave their side and find his own home.

His mother was expecting another child, and this only upped his need to leave. What’s more his antlers were finally growing in sharp and dangerous and his once soft hooves were now harder and sharper as well. It was just time to leave his home; and his old friends. He had grandeurs of adventure in his blood and in his gaze, of finding just where he might belong and where he might take root. The world was big, trees growing higher than you can see rock that touches the clouds; lands so cold they grow white. What’s more even where he was he had seen little of. His parents not part of a clan, but his friends were.

Their stories of their family and the running herds of horses amazed him. He has seen only ponies and sheep; but to see one of these great striders his friends spoke of made him itch to move and explore this ocean of grass. As he made to leave his father gave him his wagon and some Miza to set him on his way. Purchasing some goods in his little town Edelweiss said his goodbyes and set out. It was time to see this big world and make his dent on it.

Personality Merits and Flaws

Kind, warm gentle; and so much energy at times you might want to shove a cloth in his mouth and push him down a hill. Edelweiss is filled with life to give, and he does to the point it might become unhealthy. He trusts everyone and everything; see’s nothing wrong in anyone. Someone’s a killer, they did it for a reason; they steal; well they need the stuff or the money because their hungry. He would give the clothes off his back to help someone, and never expect anything in return.

This naïve and unsafe way to look at things means he’s a sucker. You can con him into helping you in anything so long as he kills no one or hurt them. He’s not all rainbows and sunshine, when you get him into planning something or get him talking about ideas or knowledge he is all business and can talk you ear off about what something might be. He can turn anything into a debate at the simplest reasons but turning this off might not be as easy. He enjoys the challenge of verbally proving someone wrong and help them see things his way.

When it comes to family and friends he is very protective and anyone in his group has to try and get along or face tears. He is not above using his normal easy going and gentle outlook to manipulate someone into being nice for a while; least around him. His view of life might be pink tinted but he values knowledge and this odd mix can be confusing when he tries to look at things from a step back. Does he help, or does he let nature and fate take control; which was he to believe?

There comes a time when the wind changes and the seasons fall away. These signs might mean a different pair of boots to most, but to Edelweiss it means it’s time to go. He loves life and people but after a while in one place there comes an itch between his shoulders; a ticking of his muscles. These feelings will have him packing his belongings and selling or giving away what he really doesn’t need before setting out. He might have company now and then with someone traveling the same way but when he has this need to travel nothing much can keep this Kelvic still.

- Location of Avanthal - The winter queens frozen lands.
- Straps and buckles of a horse harness - Step here, move there; got it!

How the lore came :
- Location of Avanthal - The winter queens frozen lands.
Edelweiss happened upon luck of seeing a Vantha in search of new stories. The woman was more then happy to tell him a tale of her homeland where the goddess of winter rules kindly on the harsh but beautiful land of endless winter. Enchanted by the story Edelweiss was given its location so he could one day see it for himself.

- Straps and buckles of a horse harness - Step here, move there; got it!
Edelweiss wanting to help his father in some trouble; shifted and took it to himself to get into a horse harness and pull a wagon. Those buckles and straps had been hard to do but he had managed. Since then Edelweiss knows how to at least get into a wagon harness by himself, enough to pull it somewhat safely!

Jervis Hill :
A bright red haired fellow with a strange arm gifted to him by his god to mess with stones and metal stuff. Why he would want a funny arm I don’t know. He comes from a mountain and he’s friendly enough. I think he’s busy. I didn’t even mean to prank him, but it was a good prank he said. I let him think I was just an Elk and he brushed me down. Horses have it nice, who knew I had so many itchy spots? He showed me how to get a fish off the hook, and when a fish is even biting. He’s offered to make me a weapon; I wonder if I will ever need it.
