Location Reed Park

Blade Island's boardwalk park is a perfect place for a stroll to get ones mind clear.

This lazy agricultural settlement rests on the swampy shores of the Middle Suvan at the delta of The Kenash River. The River's slow moving bayou waters have bred a different sort of people - rugged, cultured, and somewhat violent. Sprawling plantations of tobacco and cotton grow on the outskirts of the swamp in the rich Cyphrus soils, while the city itself curls around the bayou and spawns decadence and sins of all sorts. Life is slower in Kenash, but the lack of pace is made up for in the excesses of food and flesh in a city where drinking, debauchery, gambling, slavery, and overbearing plantation families dominate the landscape.

Perhaps one of the most simplistic parks in Kenash is Reed Park. The park itself is born of the necessity to link two solid pieces of land together over a vast boardwalk that elevates walkers above flood zones. Kenash is built on a swamp. Throughout the city there are places this is evident. In Reed Park that fact is starkly evident in every square inch of the park. Subject to tides, the park is soupy mud during low tide with tall elegant reeds growing profusely out of the river mud. At high tide, water sweeps in and the park is almost completely underwater. Because of that fact, boardwalks elevated above the mudflats, keep those passing through and enjoying the park dry and at a beautiful vantage point. Blade Island is utterly beautiful. And in Reed Park this is very obvious.

The park itself teams with life. Birds of all sorts cling to the reeds and the limited number of trees that oversee the wetlands. Shorebirds search for food along the mudflats, while all sorts of otter, seal, and even muskrat search through the reeds. Insect life abounds, encompassing dragonflies, mosquitoes, and butterflies and moths of all sorts. Fish is plentiful in Reed Park as well. And due to this fact, the boardwalks open up into larger decks that have bench seating and vantage points stretching out over fishing holes and locations well renown for their perfect sunsets.

People don't need to pass through Reed Park to enjoy it. Many people come to the park to linger. Whether they be enjoying the sunset with a loved one, fishing for food or pleasure, or perhaps just birdwatching, Reed Park has a great deal to offer its visitors.
