Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Fall 4 Riverfall 513 AV

Duce stepped back to analyze his work as he finished tapping the last paper onto the gates of Riverfall for all newcomers to see. He had spent his entire day walking through out the city posting these papers with the help of some of the kids that he played with in the park. Positioning the paper to a more better angle so it could be noticed and read, Duce proof read the paper written in readable if not perfect handwriting aloud. Mizbalar Games are being held in the park today. If you would like to play a game that is fun and tests your skills, look for Duce and the group of Akalak in the fields outside of the Riverfall gates.

Satisfied with his work, Duce returned to the group of adolescent Akalak waiting for his return with bottled up excitement. So can we start now?" One of the boys asked with an enthusiastic tone in his voice. Duce took one last look at the field to confirm that everything was set up correctly before he gave the ok. In the field, there were two baskets on opposite sides with a 50 meter space in between them. "Ok guys I'm just gonna run the rules by you one more time. The point of the game is to get the flag into the other teams basket using hand to hand combat, and your wits. That's basically it. Ready. Set. GO!" Duce said letting the imitation flag hit the ground and backing out of the way so the teams could play their game.

Watching the game carefully to make sure that no one was cheating or getting seriously hurt, Duce decided to take the time to relax and watch the gates for anyone who saw the flyer got interested in the game and decided to give it a try. He really needed a challenge. Playing with the guys was fun, but he needed someone that would really test his skill to it's potential. "Point!" He called out as he tossed a small stone onto one side signalling that the team had scored. The field reset and the game began. He smirked at the acrobatics of one Akalak who's skill impressed him, then winced at the sight of a bigger one rampaging through him and the last line of defense thus scoring a point for his team. Calling out another point and placing a pebble. Duce sighed wishing that someone would come and give him something to do other than be a referee.

Einarr walked the streets exploring the city of Riverfall. His crimson hood pulled up over his face shielding his eyes from the rays of the sun, and hiding his more obvious fiscal features. When a poster plastered to a wall catches his attention.

The young Kelvics interest was peaked, what could these strange looking people do for fun in this city. So he made his way towards the fields that the poster spoke about, making sure to keep his cloak rapped around his body for fear of wandering eyes. It was always the same in large groups, some thing about so many potential threats looking at him for what he was.Around a smaller group of people he always felt safer letting him self be known.
As he exited the gate he scouted around until he spotted a gathering of what he had to guess was the players of the game. Einarr made a beeline towards the one he noticed standing away from the action.
"I'm here for your game." Einarr said bluntly, his deep rich voice seeming to linger on each word.
"I don't know how to play, but I wish to learn." Einarr adds as his eyes scan the fields as he watches young men and woman battle it out to grab a flag. He could feel his hands twitch in excitement as he saw a young score and what must of been his team mates cheer.

"I'm here for your game.I don't know how to play, but I wish to learn. "

Duce heard a voice call out from behind him. Turning around and looking down to someone he expected to be much taller, and an Akalak, Duce put the game in timeout so no one would cheat and so he could see if this person was the challenge that he had been waiting for. "Well it's fairly easy, how ever many players on each side stand at a basket, when the referee says go the players have to get the flag from in the middle of the field and place it in the enemies basket. Once the flag has touched the bottom of the basket that is a point the flag goes back to the middle of the field and the whole thing starts over. You can use hand to hand combat, or weapons as long as you don't kill the other players. Magic is not allowed. Neither are ghost and definitely not Zith. That's basically it. So do you still want to play?

Duce took this time to study the man standing in front of him. Other than being short, he really could not see anything wrong with him. It was just the cloak that made him wonder what was under it. He called the boys over and had them reset the field so the newcomer could play if they decided to and due to the fact that they looked as if they ran from Kenash to Riverfall non stop. Now all he had to do was wait for an answer to see if the man was interested, and if so then things were going to get fun for him as well.

Duece looked back out to the field smiling and amused that someone actually liked the game and wanted to play. He sat and remembering how he and some of the boys started out in the parks training and then betting each other that they could get the old shirt to one tree before the other. Then Mizbalar was created. He smiled to himself thinking that the game had some potential to grow as he imagined hundreds of Akalak fighting over a shirt. It was kind of funny to him. Grown men throwing fists for a shirt. Snapping out of his daydreaming, Duce tuned back in to the mysterious man hoping that he did not miss an answer.

Einarr nodded in the affirmative as his answer as he walked his way over to the open field, he was on edge as he thought about the Akalaks mention of Zith he remembered stories his mother and father told him. The battle on the other hand was another matter, the Akalaks around him where more boy then men. Like he was told this was more a game then any thing else, and in that he had an advantage.
As he stood with the other players the majority of them gave him little more acknowledgement then a nod. In turn he ignored them, and knelt and feigned a prayer as he gathered a handful of dirt.

The game started and one of the Akalak charged towards Einarr most likely challenging him due to his odd clothing and small stature. Einarr remained knelt, feeling the grass beneath his boots, until the Akalak moved into range. Einarr swung up letting the dirt fly and hitting his young opponent square in the eyes, and quickly followed up with kneeing him as hard as he could in the groin. Then grabbing him as he knelt over in pain, and Einarr started throwing a number of punches into his kidneys until letting go and finishing him off with a punch straight to the jaw.

During this stand off Einarr failed to notice the Akalaks friend come up from behind and deliver a kick to his lower back, Einarr grunted in pain before swinging around letting a small challenging war cry that bordered on a growl slip past his lips. Einarr went on the offensive at once at first glance giving into reckless abandonment as he let loose a furry of punches and kicks, and being hit back nearly as much. But to any one who knew how to fight could see Einarr was far from slowing down in his assault while his opponent was, and was placing the second Akalak in front of his fallen friend. Then it happened, a well placed kick to the Akalaks leg caused him to buckle which Einarr followed with shoving him into the first Akalak, causing the second to trip. Einarr was standing over him in an instant, hardly waiting a moment before letting a heavy kick connect with his opponents head knocking him out cold.
By the time Einarr looked up he could feel a number of bruises starting to form across his body and a coppery taste in his mouth caused by a split lip but at least his team had won.

Duce watched as the man took down all of the teenage Akalak with little to no problem. He was surprised that a man so little had that much of experience. Then again, he was fighting boys and and not men. Letting his curiosity take control, Duce walked over to the basket on the other side of the field. "Congrats. You scored one point. Four more to go. How about just me and you this time though seeing that you are clearly an experienced fighter as such. You fight with spirit, and I like it."

Killing the butterflies in his stomach, he waited for on of the boys to start the match. "Three. Two. One..GO!" Not expecting the delayed start Duce wasted time standing there once the game did start and ran for the flag before "Red hood" he decided to call the mystery man until he could figure out his name got to it first. Duce looked at he surrounding to get a pinpoint on Red hood only do see him kneeling on the ground scooping dirt into his hands. Seeing this as an opprotunity, Duce snatched the flag up off the ground as the Akalak boys cheered him on. He rushed for the opponent's bucket. This was going to be easier than he thought. Then again..

Duce stopped with about a quarter of the field left before Red hood's goal. Something was not right. Duce didn't know if it was fear, curiosity, or paranoia that stopped him dead in his track. Which ever it was though he did't like it. He stood there in the open field staring at the cloak as it covered the man's face. Swallowing his nervousness, Duce went back to running toward the basket so e could score a point. Running strait for the man, Duce lunged forward throwing a punch to connect with the opponent's stomach. He was going to win, he knew if. This man being an actual challenge was just a bonus.

Einarr watched the man he spoken to before walk towards him. The blue skinned creature seemed to walk with a sense of authority, or arrogance he couldn't tell. As blue, stood in front of him and spoke Einar spit out a wad of blood that was gathering in his mouth.
"Congrats. You scored one point. Four more to go. How about just me and you this time though seeing that you are clearly an experienced fighter as such. You fight with spirit, and I like it."
"Sure, thing." He said wile wiping some dried blood off his lips. Then headed back towards his position and waited as the others counted down, and knelt down gathering up another handful of dirt. As the counting ended he remained waiting until blue came charging in, unfortunately Einarr waiting for a moment to long and felt the wind knocked out of him as his fist slammed into his gut. With a grunt Einarr grabbed Blues arm and twisted it painfully, then letting go with his right and delivering a uppercut to Blues jaw. As blue staggered he attempted to give him a powerful kick to his chest.

He was right, he did underestimate the man's ability as his arm was taken a hold of and he felt the powerful punch connect with his chin, and had to take a step back to avoid the large kick aimed for his chest. Duce smiled. He was usually the one that got the first hit. "Haha your good. I'll give you that, but enough talking lets play."

Deciding to try a different approach to get around the man, Duce went down low and fast as if he were about to go for the man's legs. He was serious now that he knew how hard the fighter could hit and how fast that they could be sent out. Now only a few feet from the man, Duce pivoted to the left and rose up off the ground sending out high knees trying to get Red hood to move from the basket so he could score a point. He knew that most likely his opponent would go for a block or try to counter and that's when he would strike.

His curiosity taking hold of his mind again, Duce sent out an arm to attempt to quickly snatch the cloak off the man's head so he could at least see some form of identity. Who was this man and where did he come from? And what was with the red hood? Snapping back into the game, Duce threw up another knee and went for an elbow to the head. If this man wanted to play Mizbalar, then he was going to give him the best game in history.

Einarr felt his blood pumping as adrenaline coursed through his body. This man easily out classed the two others Einarr fought earlier, and he could feel it taking a toll on his body. Every hit was better timed, aimed, and hit a hell of a lot harder.

As Blue slid to the left and delivered his knee into Einarrs side, Einarr let out a grunt in pain, institutionally moved his hand to the area leaving him self open to his attackers elbow as it collided with his temple. Every thing went black for a moment, as his eyes cleared his hood was being grabbed by Blue and been pulled. Einarr quickly slide out of the cloak entirely. As the sun hit his eyes Einarrs upper lip curled into a snarl his canines jutting out from his mouth, and his golden eyes filled with a wild look.

Einarr then stepped in grabbing Blues shirt as he became unbalanced from the pull Einarrs cloak, and attempted to head but him. Followed by a knee to the groin. Then attempting to grab the flag from him.

Duce winced at the pain of the headbutt connecting to his chest, but that didn't stop him from pulling the red cloak off from his opponent. On the other hand though, he did lose the flag. He watched as the blue haired man snatched the flag out of his hand and proceeded to take it to the basket to score his second point. Duce flexed his chest as he stabilized himself standing back up strait. Now the chase was on.

Using his leg muscles to run across the field after the man, Duce had a smile made up of a mixture of excitement, and determination as he slowly closed the gap between he and his prey. This was the hunt. Getting in an arms lenth of range, Duce grabbed the shoulder of the blue haired man yanking on him to get him to slow down, or fall. either way he was going to get the flag back. He took the time to look back over to the sidelines to see more people gathering to witness the game being played.

Seeing that he had no other alternative, Duce put one foot ahead of the man's short legs causing them both to fall, and the flag to blow in the wind before landing on the ground not to far away. Caressing his elbow from the hard rock that he hit it on, Duce looked over to his opponent to see his current status. Taking no chances to waist time, Duce crawled across the ground while trying to get back up at the same time. Though he had been only hit three times, his entire body ached for some apparent reason making it harder for him to move his lucid muscles as he wanted. Focusing on nothing but the flag and his goal Duce spit blood out of his mouth from the uppercut and headed for victory.

Einarr ran as quickly as he could once he grabbed the flag away from Blue, He hadn't had a work out like this in a long time, his legs where burning and his body ached from all the constant hits he was taking from his opponent. Einarr started to doubt the chances of keeping this up, perhaps in any other environment he would have a better chancing of winning but out here in the open fields his style of fighting couldn't quite stack up to his foes better controlled fighting style.

He let out a gasp of surprise as he felt him self fall with Blue, his eyes followed the flag as he flew away in the wind. Snarling in annoyance as Blue picked him self back up and started to crawl towards it. Following him a split second later he moves as fast as he could manage before trying to tackle Blue back to the ground, then raining blows in close range, limiting the power behind both their strikes but hopefully Blue wouldn't be used to this wild style of fighting and his pain tolerance would give out before Einarrs did.
