Time stamp: Fall, Day 38
Location: WindReach
There was a chill in the air and a burst of wind could be felt churning through the corridor. The wind had lost its summer warmth and now the icy tendrils of winter were trying to weave itself it the winds very fabric. The chill caused the hair on Kian's arm to stand straight up and sent a shiver rippling thru him. Autumn was here and with it came the usual seasonal problems. Except this year seemed harsher than most. The tremors, while common, seemed to be occurring more often and seemed to have more intensity behind them. With the food and water shortage, the coming winter seemed more foreboding.
Kian shook his head in attempt to free his thoughts of the doom and despair that had crept in. That was when he noticed a boy in front of him. The Yasi was no more than about ten, he had an angular face outlined by his long, unkempt coppery hair. The boy had not noticed his approach, but instead his focus was intent on what lay before him. It appeared to be a partially gutted ginger-furred cliff mouse. Its reddish matted fur had portions of crimson mixed in with it. The Yasi had a glass bladed knife that had been dyed red in the last few moments. He was being cruel to the little rodent slicing at portions of the creature. His maniacal laugh followed the painful squeaks of his quarry.
The boy stopped all of the sudden, when he felt the presence of another. He looked around quickly and his eyes locked with Kian's. The boy stammered a little and he stood. "The rodent was trying to bite me." He spat defensively. "Besides it is just a pest," He added. Kian could tell the boy had been enjoying torturing the little animal but now was approaching embarrassment at having been caught in the act.
The older Inarta approached closer and looked down at the animal with concern and then back to the boy. "It is not me you have to worry about, it is Magedalynn that might not be so forgiving." Kian added a little drama to his voice with the mention of Magedalynn. He bent down to examine the little mouse that was gasping for its last moments of life. "She does not take kindly to unnecessary death or to little Yasi who find joy in causing it." His clear green eyes shot back at the boy like daggers thru the air and they pinned the Yasi where he stood.
The boy attempted to laugh off the newcomers words of warning, yet the words set about his throat and strangled his laughter. A shiver walked down his spine and he stepped closer to Kian and in a whisper asked, "Who is Magedalynn?"
