DESCRIPTION: Silver Lake – a pool of fresh water in the middle of an island. Many tales try to explain its origins, although none is believed by scholars and priestesses alike. The most common theory, however, is that after Avalis had ascended to godhood through help of her lover Laviku, he gave her the lake as a present and she wept tears of happiness into it which became the famous vision water. The Konti regard it as sacred and use it for drinking to bathing to healing. The use and export of vision water, however, is supervised closely and must follow strict rules to ensure that the water remains crystal clear and clean. The lake itself is the epitome of serene, natural beauty, lying like a clear space mirroring the sky and clouds in the middle of the island’s plains. Never does Zulrav touch its calm surface under which a world of bushy kelp, coral and stone reef structures, starfish, sea horses and colorful fish unfolds. All life under and around the water is influenced by the effect vision water has on organisms: most fish and algae are paler than usual and some are even granted special powers or senses that are unheard of in the rest of Mizahar. A dozen whispered tales about malevolent creatures resting deeply in the darkest depths, however, are successfully denied by the Mothers Circle. The only truth accepted by everyone is that the supply of vision water never fades and that it is a blessing for those who live in or drink it regularly. The Konti credit the All-Seeing Mother for the wonders vision water does to their race and their city and see the lake as both a present from Her to Her daughters as well as a visible sign of Laviku’s and Avalis’ divine love. The eastern area of Mura, the gleaming capital, partially reaches into Silver Lake with marvelously designed underwater rooms, pretty footbridges and ornamented pavilions for those seeking calm and peace. Especially patients of the Opal Temple seek out this area of serene quiet which is only disturbed by the faint murmur of Bountiful Sea, the fish bazaar that partially stretches into the lake as well. The vision water that partially floods Mura brings various species of fish, tiny sea horses, kelp and corals with it. It is also believed that it augments the special gift all Konti are given through their gnosis mark. While Silver Lake is the trademark of Mura and the Konti, many secrets are buried in its depths of which only a few have been explored and documented in the last five centuries.
