Calla Lily
On the Outside
Name: Calla Lily
Alternate Names Calla, Cal, Lily.
Race: Kelvic (Ferret)
Gender: Female
Age: 3 Years Old. Looks about 16
Birthday: 22nd of Winter, 510
Birthplace: The Slave Market, Sunberth
Appearance: Calla is petite at 5'2" and weighing only 90lb. She has pale, somewhat smooth skin, although in some places, usually covered by clothing, she has scars from harsh owners. Her eyes are pale blue, and natural, wavy brown hair usually caked in dust. Calla usually uses her lower-back length hair to cover a scar she got from a particularly cruel slaver that is positioned next to the edge of her face on the left side.
When working she ties her hair up, though still keeping a small amount of hair down to keep the scar hidden. Calla uses no makeup, even at the slave auctions, unless forced upon her. She believes in natural beauty, and thinks if a master cannot see past her outward looks, they do not deserve to delve deeper.
Character Concept
Calla's feelings are hard to figure out, as she takes measures to hide her emotions. When trapped in her cell, Calla spends time spinning herself into stories, dreaming of a life without captivity, as she knows that with her Kelvic nature to age like a ferret, she doesn't have much time.
Calla has a twin sister, Meli, who is a Wolf Kelvic and typically the more protective of the two. Several attempts at separating the two have failed because of Meli's protective nature.
Calla, though she admits to day dreaming about a slavery-free life, has accepted her fate to live and die as a slave. 'Middle-aged' for a ferret is 5 years of age, and old age sets in at about 8 years old. Calla is well aware that she will live and die as a slave, with her short, ferret lifespan of 10 years at best.
Character History
Calla was born into slavery, and she only knew her parents for a season after she was born. After that, she bounced from slaver to slaver, every time finding a way to escape their clutches, except for one particular master.
Calla was once bought by a highly respected Eypharian man, who tried punishing her into bonding with him. He was the one who gave her a scar just above her right eye, which she goes through great lengths to hide from people.
Calla has had four slave masters so far, and she has confined each one to memory and can easily name each one, how long she was their slave, and how cruel or kind they were.
Spring, 511 To Spring, 511
Her first captor was a middle-age woman, hoping to use Calla as an object to flaunt her wealth. Calla was still only a season and a half old then (About 7 in human years) Calla easily escaped from the woman, as she never realized how Calla could use her ferret form to escape through small gaps in the wall of her slave quarters. Meli was used as a guard dog, frequently left outside in the cold overnight. Calla frequently brought her sister bits of meat she had stolen off the woman.
The woman sent hunters after her, and Calla was soon recaptured and returned to the auction house, rejected by the woman.
Summer, 511 To Winter, 511
The second master was a father of two children, hoping that Calla and Meli would bond with them. The children would constantly argue about which one of them would be bonded with which sister, and frequently forced Calla into her ferret form in order to steal her from the other child. The constant switching between masters made it easy for Calla to slip away when one child grabbed her away from the other when she was in ferret form and ran outside with her. She escaped the child with relative ease and later went back and unlocked Meli’s slave quarters so the two could escape. The two of them later tried to obtain jobs.
Winter, 511 To Fall, 512
Obviously, this aroused suspicion, and they were once again sent back to the Slave Auction. Now three and a half seasons old (and getting very good at escaping captors) The two were sold once again, half a season into fall, to a wealthy Eypharian man who first used Calla as a personal slave and Meli as a guard, then when they were about 14 in Kelvic years, started using both of the twins as body slaves. Calla instantly started plotting ways to escape with her sister, as whenever the slaver went away with Meli, Calla was left alone. Giving her a small window of time to escape. Calla had attempted to escape before, but the man had caught her and whipped her right in front of Meli, who had been chained to a wall for biting the man. At one point, he had whipped the left side of her face, causing a scar above her left eye she still tries to hide. Eventually, Meli managed to attack the man and free them both.
Spring, 513 To Spring, 513
Calla’s last master before present time was a very elderly Konti who was fatally sick, though she didn't show it. Meli was once again, used as a guard while Calla tended to the woman. During the beginning of Calla’s servitude to the woman, Calla was frequently let out into her courtyard, giving her plenty of opportunity to escape, though she didn’t take it. The woman was by far the nicest owner she had ever belonged to, so for once, Calla didn't want to leave.
Calla stayed with the woman long enough for her to teach her self-defense, using a small Balisong (Fan Knife) the woman had engraved with a picture of a ferret and wolf, and the words “Freedom” Inscribed on the handle. As Calla grew attached to the woman, it became easier to learn new things from her, and the woman became Calla's first bond. After bonding, it was incredibly easy for Calla to learn Kontinese, and then how to read and write, rare skills for a slave to own. In her free time, Calla would teach Meli, though with limited supplies and barely any time, the teaching didn't get very far.
Unfortunately, as the spring season was just heating up into summer, the old woman passed away, leaving the only person Calla had ever bonded with, dead.
Summer, 513 To Fall, 513
Calla and Meli were put on a slave wagon to Ravok, where they were sold to yet another master. Calla is still mentally scarred from her severed bonds to the Konti woman, leaving her mind in a somewhat fragile state.

-A Small Balisong with a picture of a wolf and ferret etched into the safe handle, and the words “Freedom” inscribed on the latch handle. There is a simple design of swirls and loops on the blade itself. Calla hides the Balisong in a small pocket crudely sewn on her pants, hidden from view.
Religion
Ionu
Calla always says a quick prayer to Ionu before every escape attempt, though she has little knowledge of the god/ess. Trickery and evasion are key factors in slipping through cracks, and although her faith to Ionu most likely has nothing to do with it, Calla believes that her luck with escaping comes from the god/ess.
Priskil
When Calla was slave to the older
Although Calla does not have the resources to worship the goddess, as any signs of religion in a slave that is differing from their owner could get them whipped. Calla does, however, put her faith in the goddess in dark times, when all hope seems to be lost.
