Name: Skidril Winterflame Race: Mixed human (Vanthan mother, outsider father) Age: 23 Date of birth: Night between 6th and 7th, Winter of 590 AV Birthplace: Avanthal Current location: Avanthal Marital status: Married to Neira Frostfawn Proffesion: Woodcarver (HD approved) ~ 5 gm/day Appearance: Height: 5'7'' Weight: 145 lbs Hair Colour: Dark brown Eye Colour: Grey If not for the tikita blood of his father coursing through him, Skidril could unmistakably be taken as a Vantha. But it is there, and all of the man's features pale in comparison to those of chilled blood. His skin is a bit lighter, his eyes one tricked and lacking ability, and finally his hair is just hair. Simple dull fistfuls of brown lawn maintain neatly trimmed on his head, and sun never graces them with portions of its energy. As if a mockery straight from the courts of legacy, the only thing his mother passed onto him was the vanthan height standard. Personality: Calm, caring and patient to a fault, Skidril epitomes most customs of his people. His care for family, Morwen, and the hold (in that order) is unsurpassed. He does feel like something is missing in his everyday life. This little chirp in the armor of his being doesn't concern his father, or the usurping Iceglaze, or even the fact that Neira has yet to bear children... he simply hasn't found a place strong enough to call his own. He's had that feeling for some time now, and as he gets older, the back of his head gets itchier with ideas he isn't likely to ever execute. History: Born as the third of three, Skidril was the smallest jewel in the crown of his parents' marriage. His mother was a cook of high regard, and his father an outsider. Even though the father carried with him the reputation of a decent bard, his appearance and the way he accented Nari never did sit well with the parents of his wife. Even with the family's protests, the relationship still prospered and gave birth to three children. Even with offspring, the relationship couldn't seem to fully root into the barren soil of the northern tundra. And eventually, when enough cracks formed in the seemingly smooth marriage, his parents parted ways. Mother stayed behind in Avanthal, and the father went on a peculiarly long business trip to Lhavit that kept getting extended. After a few seasons, it was pretty clear to the children that their father wasn't coming back. He did want to be part of their lives, so he kept urging them all to move down to Lhavit. For Skidril's mother this was out of the question, her place was in Avanthal, and she knew better than to escape it. In the father's absence, Cheva withdrew, and now a Lacun stood between the parents. Even though Skidril was too young to understand the monumentality of a single pattern shifting, he could clearly observe the repercussions. Soon enough, his mother started bringing another man to their house in quite frequent and lengthy intervals. This new man was a polar opposite of their passionate father, so the children never reacted to him in the wished for manner. They could obviously understand why their mother needed to replace their father when he was still close. So Skidril wrote a letter to his father that mother is likely to marry this Iceglaze, but all he got in return was a quickly quipped together congratulations note. After this it was more or less expected for their father not to show up at the mother's second wedding, and those expectations were readily met. Even though his mother seemed happier, and the Iceglaze seemed decent enough a man, Skidril and his sisters were never fully accepting of him and his son from the first marriage. Sisters found a place in their hearts for the other boy, but for Skidril he was something else entirely. The two became day to day rivals, and not ones of the friendly sort. Not really knowing his way, Skidril found a path to Neira Frostfawn, who would later become his wife. The two have been trying to conceive a child for some years now, but the results have been less than successful. Concept: Skidril is meant to be played as a man pained with the „should I stay, or should I go?“ syndrome. In part he wishes to abandon everything and track down the distant footsteps of the man who fathered him. Even though he is half his father, the wish to leave is kept as a distant third. It still lives only because of the seasonal letters in which his father boasts about grand exploits in Lhavit. To further complicate things, his mother is happily remarried to another Vantha, and both of them have some hold on his decisions. Skidril is a married man himself, and his wife is also a pure Vantha who has no desire to leave home whatsoever. Taking all that into account accompanied by having two more older sisters that have happily settled in Avanthal, Skidril doesn't look very likely to ever leave home despite his wish to do just that. No matter the severity of his wishes, there are too many factors that, like wind eagles, chain him to his birthplace. And maybe because of how his father dealt with this decision, he doesn't ever want to leave anyone. The only real hope for him leaving the city lies in his wife finding a reason to look beyond the horizon. He does secretly hope that day would come, but he also fears it. If he ever gave up wanting to leave entirely, he would try and enter the Icewatch, putting the entirety of his existence in the hands of the north. Much is uncertain until such a time...
