Finding the midwife

"He hasn't promised anything of that to my sister. If it's up to him and what's left of his pavilion we're stuck in endrykas for the rest of our lives." If he was honest he might have agreed to that deal if his owner offered it. But that guy was intent to keep all three of them in endrykas, or make them a part of their pavilion, wither they wanted to be or not.

"So first he rapes you and then he gives you your freedom? " That was just plain confusing. "I'm not following his line of thought there." Then again, maybe he was just playing with her mind. She claimed to be free, but from what she said earlier, he doubted she really was. "Then again, I haven't met the guy. Maybe it makes sense when you know him better." He shrugged.

"Do you think he will allow that? I mean, you told me he raped you to get that child. This entire situation, them stealing people, was all to bolster their numbers. From what I understand, which isn't really much yet, being a drykas has a lot to do with their culture and tradition. Do you think he or other drykas will let you teach his child things that go against drykas culture? or let you let the child think some things his people do are wrong? Wouldn't that just be counterproductive for the drykas?" There wasn't any anger in his words this time. Not like when he was arguing the point of slavery, he just was curios as to why she thought she could do that.

Fallan was so much better at explaining this then she was, even in his broken common he had a way of explaining the thoughts that had gone into the decision to capture and assimilate females and children. Every time the other reiterated the circumstance of her pregnancy it was almost a physical blow even though she had thought she had put that pain behind her. Her arms fell so that her hands could surround the ever so slight swell, a protective gesture even as her features turned cold.

"I told him I would never accept a Chevas mark with him, never would be his wife for he had purchased me..and that was all that he would ever be...It upset him." She finally smiled, a softening of her face occurred briefly at the memory of the night he told his family that he was to be a father, and had declared Taylani free. "The Drykas culture is at fault. Some of the people do not approve, many of them left Endrykas..causing even more damage.. Fallan understands what he did was wrong..his son will understand too."

"If your stuck in Endrykas, then wouldn't it be easier to try to change your situation to one that is more palatable? Trust me, I fought long and hard ..even ran off into the grasses knowing that I would be likely to die. Fallan came and got me. Fighting doesn't do anything but rob you of any peace..rob your sister of any peace..that she might be able to find."

Finding the midwife

Anton restrained himself from rolling his eyes at her when she began to say how hard it hit her owner when she told him she would never marry him. That looked like textbook emotional manipulation. At least he thought so. Bloody barbarian drykas, if he had still been in zeltiva he could have looked it up. But these people thought books were unnecessary weight. Something really was wrong with these people.

"And how do you suppose I do that eh." He muttered. "This situation is rather unbearable. Even ignoring the entire being captured and my sister getting... busy with the ankal. I'm afraid of horses, those animals are just large and dangerous. And here they're everywhere. I'm a scholar, I used to study mathematics at the university in zeltiva. These barbarians don't even have a written form of their language, relying on oral history to make sure nothing goes lost. Which is a very bad way to keep things from getting lost in my opinion. " The idea of how much they lost each passing generation or how they kept their administration in check without writing things down just made him ill. "I'm not getting any peace of mind here. So fighting or not I'm not at ease or at peace anyway. Pretty sure my sister feels the same way. My little brother might not, but I'm not letting him become one of the drykas."

Taylani shook her head, and finally understood how frustrated Fallan had to have become with her. She had said much the same things until she was blue in the face last season, and if he had been sold at the auction as she was he would have been saying this the same amount of time. Eventually he will either realize that this was pointless and move forward, or he will do something stupid and get himself killed. She herself had almost been in the latter group.

"You can't live in the past. What happened happened and you can't rewind time." Taylani was sympathetic but she also knew that allowing for continued soaking in the past would do nothing to help him. Perhaps this was why the Drykas generally did not keep male captives, though she couldn't really talk considering she had been just as stubborn. She wouldn't tell him of the webbing, though for her that was when she had broken. When she realized that there was no hope of escape ever, that Fallan would be able to track her no matter how deep into the grasses she fled.

But the webbing wasn't her secret to share, she wasn't even suppose to know about it. So she kept silent on that fact. "Speak to Sharika Nightsong, she is far more knowledgeable on herbs and pregnancy then I ever will be. I won't cause harm to your sister by recommending things that are just detrimental to her emotional well being." She gave a quiet smile, knowing that the last would cause him to burst into another diatribe, though she couldn't help it. She turned and picked up her basket of basil leaves. "I am sorry that this is continuing to be difficult for you." With that she turned, and moved down past the tents, weaving amongt the tent stakes.

Finding the midwife

oocTrying out something new. bold text is spoken out loud. italic ones are thoughts

this entire conversation was frustrating him. Not because she was being stupid or unreasonable. But because she was pointing out flaws in his plans and was saying things that made sense. Don't live in the past, it only hurts. Don't do something foolish. To bad not doing anything foolish or not living in the past was only possible by not disliking the drykas and everything they stand for and by accepting the fact that his owner was probably.... getting busy with his sister. 'Petch my life.' he disheartingly thought. He wasn't going to do that, he just couldn't do that at the moment. It was more then a season old that wound, but it still wasn't healed enough for that.

“I know I can't, still doesn't make it any less difficult to accept what they did to us though.” Anton said in a defeaten tone. “Still doesn't make the urge to struggle or make them pay or redeem themselves for what they did go away.” he nodded at her comment about speaking to sharaika nightsong though he didn't doubt that her response would be exactly the same as the one he got from her.

“I guess I can't fault you for looking out for people.” He responded. When she started to walk away he suddenly thought of something. he reacted and lightly grabbed her by the wrist. letting her go immediately after he got her attention. “Just one more thing, do you know where you can find reasonably flat stones, or any kind of object with a flat surface around here, Stone, wood, whatever and some chalk around here? Don't care about cost, just need it to be cheap and flat. I kinda need it for a project of mine. Usually I would have just used the floor, but it's all dirt around here.”[/i] He did a mental double take, his request could seem slightly strange and rather out of the ordinary. Not to mention totally out of the blue and slightly suspicious with the way he used project.

“I swear to the gods. I'm not planning something dangerous..” 'okay that was a total lie.' he thought so he reworded it. “Well, not intentionally dangerous. Even if it goes completely wrong it's just slightly dangerous anyway. The drykas won't be hurt by it in any way.” He let her go, awkwardly scratching his scars. “Soo, can you help me with that?”

Taylani was brought up short by his hand on her wrist, and immediately she turned her blue eyes up at him. She tried to bite back the glare, understanding that he had no clue how being grabbed by a strange male brought up very bitter memories for her, but she couldn't quite control her darkened expression, or the way her hand pulled back against her body as soon as he had released her. "A simple wait will suffice to stall me." She says evenly, subtly shifting her basket of herbs in front of her. It wasn't his fault, and what he had done was nothing out of the ordinary which was why she didn't lecture him on the reasons why he shouldn't grab at women who had become captive.

"We forage for most things around here, however if you go to the Pavilions that are erected for markets, you will probably be able to buy anything that you need. Or have something crafted. Is there anything else I can help you with?" She carefully asked the last, so that she could answer any more questions before going on her way,

Finding the midwife

Just as his fingers closed around her wrist he already knew that he had done something stupid. She was a captive, she had been captured, grabbing her might have been a bad idea. When she turned around and looked at him with a barely restrained glare he got confirmation that he indeed, screwed up a bit. “Yeah, I'll keep that in mind for next time. Sorry.” He let out an embarrased chuckle.

'market pavilions to check if it's sold, or ask that they'll make it for you. Right got it.' He made a mental note of it. Hoping that he wouldn't get to many weird stares for asking something like that. Still he needed it for his art so no way he could get out of it.

He shook his head when she asked there was anything more he could answer her. “No, I think I know everything I want to know at the moment. Thanks for helping me out with most of it. even though it didn't go like I wanted in some places.” He admitted. “Still thanks for helping anyway. I'll see you around then I guess?” He asked. Shoving his hands in the pockets. Hoping that he hadn't offended her in some way. Even though their viewpoints differed dramatically. And that he thougth she was brainwashed. She was still the most contact he had with non-drykas this season.
