Appearance: Dark blond hair, light blue eyes. 5'11 and 180 lbs of lean muscle from riding, training and combat. Whist has a slight olive cast to his complexion that's emphasized by the time spent outside with an easily acquired tan. On the right shoulder, he has a Windmark of a circle of horses and a sickle/hoof shaped scar on the lower right side of his back. Thin talon marks on his forearms while learning Falconry via his falcon Razor. His manner of dress is neat and impeccable without being too ostentatious; at least by Kenash standards. Wears falconry gloves frequently. This man's posture is very self-contained and careful not to reveal his feelings. His expression is mostly neutral but will become quietly menacing if someone decides to purposely vex him.

Character Concept
Considering his cousin Banjemin Cherales Mahtu Askara the Tenth's 'eccentric' tastes, Whist tends to give him a very wide berth while saying as little as possible to him. Self control, physically and emotionally, is the most important ideal in his standards, no matter what the situation.
Whist is a very serious guy that tends to be an utter perfectionist. He won't tolerate a repeated mistake in himself so he's even less tolerant of the same thing in others. He's a bit heavy handed with slaves and other lesser mortals of no refinement.
The only things on the planet that can make him laugh out loud or even crack a smile, is his falcon Razor or his Strider, SandStorm. Psychologically, his wish for speed and freedom translate themselves into Whist's admiration for falconry and horses.

Character History
First born son to Whist Amirmoez Askara the II and Shalas Askara, Whist has known a life of pure privilege, wealth and aristocracy. Although his every physical need is met, he's lived a mostly solitary life, seeking his own counsel more often than not. He trusts only himself and his Strider, and his now late great Drykas grandmother, Amethysste (Softgrass)Askara.

After a long and boring lecture of how he was part Drykas, Whist's great grandmother took him on a journey to the Sea of Grass. At 21, he thought he knew everything--until that fateful night. His feet ached, he was very thirsty and hungry for the first time in his life and Amy remained steadfast that they should only sit on the ground quietly.

By the second sunset, Whist's temper grew and he exhaled noisily. "Whissst!" she shushed him to silence, knowing the meaning of his name. "The web is moving with the beat of dozens of mighty hearts. Do not fail me now young man--use your Drykas blood!"

On the verge of dismissing her as a crazy old bag, he felt a faint murmuring of the earth beneath him as a dust cloud approached from the east. Whist listened to the incredibly swift approach of a herd of the infamous Striders of Cyphrus legends.

Maybe one would bow to his impeccable bloodline and follow him like a loyal hound! The youth saw himself sitting proudly astride a beautiful but obedient mare that did everything she was 'told.'

It was a shame that he was lost in the daydream as the magnificent wild herd approached unnaturally quickly. The lead mare neighed a challenging ring that probably meant get out of the way! In reflex, Whist jumped to his feet amidst the swirling equine flesh flowing toward him, at him, around him all at once. Heavy dun clouds of earth choked the air and blurred his vision as the young man tried to get his bearings.

The gorgeous lead mare suddenly turned on him and reared into the air, fully intending to strike him dead for daring to get in her way! Dumbfounded with awe and fear, Whist froze in place, unable to do more than admire her deadly beauty.

A deeper, answering male challenge sounded from a handsome young grulla colt nearby. He screamed again and bared his large white teeth, looking like he might take a sizable bite out of Whist. A gentle(for a horse) hoof came down on the side of the young man's back, knocking him face first to the ground. The Strider stood squarely over Whist, with his ears pinned, eyes rolling white, neck outstretched and his teeth bared!

For reasons unknown Whist now felt safe and protected, despite the tonnage of wild, powerful Striders massing and galloping so close to him. After what seemed an eternity, the mare swirled away and continued her journey with the rest of the herd.

SandStorm nickered softly and sniffed the back of Whist's head in curiosity, causing him to turn on his elbow to stare upwards. The pompous young man disappeared, quickly replaced by a person held in thrall by the breathtaking silvery Strider with the dark markings and dorsal stripe.

Clearly having enough of this nonsense, the colt nudged him imperiously with his nose to get up off the ground already. Whist had a sickle shaped wound in the shape of a hoof on his back, marking him as SandStorm's property now. The young man stumbled to his feet, forgetting thirst, hunger or any other discomforts. He felt only complete.

A couple meters away, a very proud great grandmother led off her great grandson to get a Windmark tattoo. Their heritage would be preserved and assured now.
